    Stab at Warra today.
Rain threatened a few times but we didn’t get wet.
How’d I play? Not particularly well. Too many 1-points, a few wipes, short chips and putts.
    13 out, 17 back for a 30 point total.
More of the same tomorrow, unless it’s too wet to play.

MM stroke & putting yesterday with Olinda club @ Beacy.
Some good, some bad. Lost a couple of balls, nett79. In stab terms, three wipes, only two 3-pointers.
Perfect weather for golf, course was in good condition, although the greens were a bit slow, even on the Hills course. I left around six putts a couple of inches short.
Annoyingly, they still have the “don’t touch the flag sticks” rule in place, when the rest of the country has moved on.

I expected that my good round on Tuesday would have cost me a stroke off my playing ‘cap, but I was left on 17 by .1.
Stab at Warra today, 33 points. As I have three 31 point flags, this will cost me that stroke.

Vets at Lang Lang today. Single stab, but average scores determined which tean won.
West Gipps beat South Gipps by one point, 28/27. I passed the trophy on to our captain so it won’t have to decorate my dining room for another year.

How did I play? Only one wipe, 31 points.

The usual mid-week stab at Warra tomorrow.

An audit / recount has been conducted and that found that South beat West by 0.1
So, congratulations to South Gippsland Vets.

    Regular stab at Warra today.
A couple of wipes, half a dozen pars, one birdie, 36 points.
Was playing off 17, that’ll be back to 16.

Pennant at Warra today. The team won 4 1/2 to 2 1/2.
I didn’t play at all well, drives were weak, chips were short and putts preferred to slink past holes rather than drop. My opponent played better and I went 2 down on our 18th hole.

Lang Lang tomorrow for West Gippsland vs South Gippsland. Hopefully I do a bit better than today.

    BB Stab at Warra today.
Neither of us played well. Not enough pars. We both wiped one hole. The 36 point total put us around the middle of the field, so no cookies for us.
Weather, course, etc were all excellent.

Pennant at Warra tomorrow against Deep Creek. We’d better win because we’re up against them again in two weeks at their course.

I’m in the market for a new bag. Anyone got any recommendations for a bargain cheap price?

Don’t buy cheap and nasty, you’ll never be happy with it.

So it turns out that the comp win I had in December was, unbeknownst to me, a monthly medal win. My first one anywhere as it happens.

The upshot is that I’m in the final on Sunday week. And thanks to the combined efforts of COVID and Dictator Dan…there are only 7 monthly medal winners.

    Could be fun.

How could you not know it was a MM ?
Well done and good luck in Medal of Medalists.

    Stab at Warra today.
    17 out, 14 back for a 31 point total.
Four pars out, only two back in with a wipe as well.
Most drives were fairly straight but a few were quite wide. A couple of 3-putts.
Lovely weather. Xman’s rain still not here.
Tomorrow off, then 4 days of golf.

    Par at Warra today.
Started slowly with 3 down after 3 but it didn’t get better. Three halves and 3 more losses meant -6 at the change.
A little better on the back nine where I had 3 wins and only two more losses.
So, I finished the day on -5 which equates to 31 stab points. Not a disastrous score but should have been better.

Vets at Yallourn today. Stab, shotgun, started on the 14th off a 19 handicap.
Started with three 2-points, but wiped 17 & 18 with some errant shots. More errant shots on the front nine causing 1-pointers and only a few 3-points with a total 17 points for that half.
Back to the back nine for our last 4 holes and a few more 3-pointers (including the index-19 511m 13th) for a 16 point sum.
Total of 33 points was just small enough to miss out on a ball DTL.

CB80 joined us as a recce for the upcoming Eastern Zone Challenge there in April.

Our sponsor for the event was a retirement village / aged care facility so we had to let the chick from there give her spiel, then our AGM which had been postponed from last year.

Lunch was good and the course was in very good condition although the greens were somewhat slow.

    Back to Warra tomorrow.

CB, I hope you’re not relying on Vic Veterans Golf Assoc for programming.
They managed to err when transcribing our entries for their booklet and I see that at least one of yours is wrong as well.
The Eastern Zone Challenge is at Yallourn but not on 12 Mar (not a Monday anyway) as listed, but booked for 12 April. I see that you have a Woorayl event list for 12 Apr, so you might want to change that if you want to maximise attendance.

Played Par with Olinda Golf Club at Beacy.
I started well with 4 pars for +4, playing off 17 on Lakes/Hills front. But I couldn’t maintain that progress, having pulled that back to +2 at the halfway mark. Onto the Hills course and my putts persisted in lipping out with five losses in a row on the first 5 holes. Then I parred the 6th (index 18 so that was only a half) but I did win the NTP on that one. Finished that 9 with a -4 for an overall -2.
So, not too bad. Most drives were straight up the middle with only a couple of poor drives. All the lipping out putts annoyed me.
Out for pennant tomorrow – the team captain wants to get everyone qualified for the finals (need two games).
Vets event at Yallourn on Monday.

See you at Yallourn on Monday. South have put together a good strong group of players in an attempt to win back the coveted trophy.

West vs South is not on until 1st March at Langy. The trophy has been sitting on my dining table for the last year.
