OldBogeyParticipantPlayed Par with Olinda Golf Club at Beacy.
I started well with 4 pars for +4, playing off 17 on Lakes/Hills front. But I couldn’t maintain that progress, having pulled that back to +2 at the halfway mark. Onto the Hills course and my putts persisted in lipping out with five losses in a row on the first 5 holes. Then I parred the 6th (index 18 so that was only a half) but I did win the NTP on that one. Finished that 9 with a -4 for an overall -2.
So, not too bad. Most drives were straight up the middle with only a couple of poor drives. All the lipping out putts annoyed me.
Out for pennant tomorrow – the team captain wants to get everyone qualified for the finals (need two games).

OldBogeyParticipantWell, vaccinations are about to commence and they should get around to all of us by the end of the year.
It will be interesting to see what effect the vaccinations have.
The vaccine does not make the patient immune to coronavirus, it just pre-arms the immune system to recognise covid-19 as an evil invader and start the fight immediately, thus reducing the severity of the infection. Life saving no doubt, but not immunity. Some people will be asymptomatic but still infectious. The question has not yet been answered as to whether a recovered covid-19 patient is then immune and whether they will be immune from variants of the strain and to what extent.
Being an old fart means I should be up towards the top of the ‘early adopter’ list. But being in country Victoria means our list will come well after the city folk.
These, and other questions will all be answered, eventually.

OldBogeyParticipantStab at Warra today. Good to be back playing after the lock down.
Lost two balls, the first on the first when my green approach curved left to the adjoining 9th tee and couldn’t be found. The second lost ball was on the 3rd hole. Tee shot was nicely over the creek, turned right on the slope of the ground and was easily found under the trees. Second shot needed a low punch under the trees and up the fairway toward the green. It flew perfectly but found an exposed tree root beyond the trees, was deflected up and I heard it land some seconds later but it also could not be found.Final result was 31 points which would have been a good result if those two balls hadn’t gone hiding and I had those 4 lost points.
Ambrose on Saturday so I’ll play away.

OldBogeyParticipantnext week is going to be hot, in Victoria, so lots of people will flock to the beaches, and or get outside in sun and fresh air and enjoy them selves, the ingredients for health living, instead of being cooped up in side.
Anyone want to bet against the lock down extending to end of February, even into March.…….
Betting against it? No way!
Commandant Dan is always wanting to show that he’s the boss instead of setting reasonable limitations. Any excuse to push his peasants around. He’s probably descended from the sheriff of Nottingham.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

OldBogeyParticipantDay off tomorrow and dropped from Sunday’s pennant match after my loss. But that’s 70km away at Traralgon so I’ll enjoy the sleep in.
Serious question and not having a dig at you this time, but isn’t it generally accepted and expected that the fellas in the team who aren’t playing that week still go with the team?
Either caddying or sitting in the cart drinking beers supporting the players that week? No, caddies are very rare, the odd wife or kid.
Most players drink enough without further encouragement.
Even the ’emergency’ player is not expected to be present.
We have 12 or 13 players in our team and only need 7 for each match. Imagine the catering problems if twice as many turned up, or none did after allowing for them. There are multiple matches at the course which is closed to others until mid arvo.
The emergency player should always turn up, with his clubs, warm up on practice fairway or in the net and have a practice putt, and be ready to play, until he is told he is not required that game.
I have seen on so many occasions where players fall over in car park, or hurt back in warm up, or get a phone call on way to course that a players car has broken down, etc ,etc and cannot play, and the emergency is needed.
for those team who dont have emergency ready, they are 1 match down, also if emergency plays, he often wins.I agree CB, but that’s not how the locals do it.

OldBogeyParticipantThat Dastardly Dan is a complete fuckwit, isn’t he?
Yes, there’s the possibility of the contagion spreading from the few escaped cases. But why strangle the entire State of Victoria? Over 90% of the population is nowhere near the danger zone, but we all have to stay at home for a week.
All production ceases, no one earns their wages, businesses have to close.
Dan’s salary won’t be deducted for the week, no skin off his nose.Ah, but his Big Tennis goes on regardless. Wouldn’t do to let the rest of the world know that we all live in a police state prison.
He could have just declared a zone or two, like other states have done. But he’d much rather big note himself.

OldBogeyParticipantRegular stab at Warra today.
My right hip is still playing up, so it’s time for a few days off.
I was surprised just how well I hit some shots considering I was basically playing off the left foot all day with just the right toe helping to steady me. Needless to say that not all shots went well.
One birdie, three pars, but also three wipes. 27 points.I’ve pulled out from Saturday, not in the team for Sunday, I’ll see how I am for next week.

OldBogeyParticipantUsual Tues stab at Warra today, playing off my regular 16 handicap.
15 out, 16 back in for a 31 point total.
Highlight was getting onto the 17th green for 2 (wiped it completely yesterday), but the birdie putt lipped out.
Lowlight was that my right hip ‘went’ on me on an early tee and gave me curry for the rest of the round.Day off tomorrow and dropped from Sunday’s pennant match after my loss. But that’s 70km away at Traralgon so I’ll enjoy the sleep in.

OldBogeyParticipantYesterday was oldies’ nine hole at Warra.
Finished with 20 points after a strong start, but weakened with a 1-point on 16 and a wipe on 17 even with an extra shot.
That means my bodgie 22 handicap will be back to 20 for next time. It could have been worse: if I hadn’t buggered those two holes, I would’ve finished with 23, dropped 5 strokes and lost on countback.Still, it’s a non-serious format and we have a few laughs.

OldBogeyParticipantPennant at Trafalgar against Morwell.
I lost on our 18th hole: 1 down.
The team had a draw 3 1/2 to 3 1/2.

OldBogeyParticipantAgain, the forecast was for thunderstorms, flooding, etc.
Here, just east of Melb, had barely a few drops, nothing in the rain gauge, mostly sunny. It has only dropped below 30° in the last half hour. Grass was dry to mow.Maybe a bit of rain later, or when I’m teeing off tomorrow.
