Stab at Warra yesterday. Hadn’t played since monday due to wet weather.
We (usual partner in crime & I) contemplated our 11:22 start time in consultation with the weather radar and concluded that 1:06 (last group, off the 10th) gave us a better chance of a dry run. As the time approached, we were at the course sheltering from rain but were hopeful of it clearing, which it did.
We had a clear run, except for all the slow pokes ahead. We joined up with another pair doing their second nine and played 15 to 18 as a four. We immediately caught the three in front again but they let us through on the 1st.
Fine weather ensued but we waited on every hole for the groups ahead. On the 9th tee, we encouraged them to get a bloody move on as the weather was closing in. Not their fault as they had been held up by others ahead. Needless to say, halfway down the 9th, the heavens opened up and gave us a drenching. I wiped the 9th and submitted my 33 points.
Back at the clubhouse and after spending a few minutes under the verandah organising my gear, the clouds gave way to glorious sunshine. We could’ve just sheltered under trees on the 9th and stayed dry !!!!

It seemed like we were waiting all day but the end result was that it only took 3H 20min for the 18 holes. Around a third of the field didn’t finish their round, so we were lucky to be mostly dry.

Today is the pennant final. I was down as emergency so I went to Yallourn to see them off then came back home. Our opponents, Garfield, have been strong all season. If they continue their form today, we’ll have a tough time beating them.

I noticed at Yallourn that the electrical plug on my cart trailer was hanging loose and the 110 Kph bitumen had destroyed it, so replacing it gave me something to do on my return.

Off to the club at 4:30 for ‘pennant finals celebrations’ even if we don’t win the pennant.

    Oldies’ nine hole this morning.
Handicap (their system) was 21 which allowed me two shots on two holes (index 1 & 3).
Four 3-points and one 1-point for a 21 point total. Won the day (on countback) and will lose those 3 strokes off handicap for next time.
$4 comp fee to win $10. Good thing we don’t play for the money.

Pennant match at Mirboo North today. A little drizzle as I headed out east but none once I got into the hills to the south. No rain at all on the course, just a bit windy.
I lost my match 3&1 and the team lost, but we’re still in the final next week.
With two losses, I probably won’t be selected.

Another bloody 4BBB at Warra yesterday. Partner and I started off with matching scores, in points, of 2,2,2,3 but then we started to get some variety. But we both wiped the 8th with the wind causing some havoc. Only 1 point scored in our four.
20 points out, but some 1 pointers on the back meant we only accumulated 36 points, well off from the winners’ circle.

Glorious golfing weather all week and this weekend here in Gippsland.
Sydneysiders have been promised a torrential dumping this weekend, down from SEQ. I hope all you critics of Melb weather remain safe and dry while we play golf.

Enjoy Obe, naturally I’m sure your scores will reflect the wonderful weather you’re having.

Thanks Bumpy. Sat is just a 4BBB, but Sunday is a pennant match so I hope I get my brain working.

    Stab at Warra today.
    12/12 for 24 points.
About four wipes, a couple of 3-putts, 3-pointers were rare.
    Perfect weather, no excuses.

Stab at Morwell with the Vets.
Played some nice shots but also too much rubbish. I think it was 3 wipes and some 3-putts. So, to come in with 32 points wasn’t too bad, but could have been a lot better.
The course was in excellent condition. The weather was a bit cool to start and didn’t really warm up to mid 20s until the end of our round.

    Oldies’ nine hole this morning.
    3 x 1-point, 1 x 3-point = 16 points.
Only had a couple of good shots. Start was too early. Time now for a nana nap.

    Stab at Warra today.
For a change, I started well and banked a few extra points. Until I wiped the 6th, 7th & 8th.
Three or four 3-putts certainly didn’t help.
    Another 30 point round.
All my flagged rounds are low thirties except for a solitary 36.

As an adjunct to today’s report, the cops had set up a breathalyzer at a roundabout on my way home, both on Saturday and today. On both days all I’d had was coffee and both times they just waved me through without testing.

That’s a shame……pity they didn’t put your trailer for your cart off the road. You might have to walk then. πŸ˜‰

The trailer was new when I bought the cart. Perfect working order.
There’s still a lot of walking when one uses a cart, just a lot less of it.
I certainly couldn’t play four days in a row if I walked them. But I can with a cart.

    4BBB Stab at Warra today.
We had 40 points which was ok but well off the winners.
As miscore now keeps track of social rounds, I entered mine as a social while partner recorded team scores. I had 15 & 18 for a 33 total, with no wipes. I played the front nine with a pink ball and played like a sheila, then switched to a yellow for the back nine.
