At risk of bringing the average age of this discussion down a notch, it’s an interesting question BM posed and Commish has eloquently captured in his response.
As a 48yo with ongoing lower back issues I have had to readjust my expectations and approach to both improvement and playing. Previous thoughts were filtered with feel isn’t real, what I think I’m doing isn’t even close to what I think, and lessons are best.
Using that same approach and knowledge from 3 years of lessons and practice etc. I have recalibrated my goals and playing approach. In short I have realised I have a functional playable swing and need to fine-tune my short game to score better.
I don’t need to think in terms of positions or concepts, I need to keep my current swing repeatable and work on short game skills.
So, for me, the TGM type discussion or overly detailed analysis of the golf swing had never really worked and I now doubt will ever need to be. But, I 100% support and encourage others who do like that approach.
So, where are they all?
Over in the previous house- BM was nice enough to invite them over!

?February 14, 2020 at 11:50 pm #9481BrownmanParticipantI have been injured for some time and just started to get back in the groove so to speak,in the meantime the cap has drifted out to double figures especially now the new h/crap has been thrust upon us,..but just using 3/4 swings (aquired motion) and no other force than centrifugal i have finally got back into singles –just,…i did find that even using a very simple swing that if one doesnt take care of essentials, swing can still go astray,,i made a big effort to actually see the clubhead take dirt of the ground, boy that made a big difference to get back on track…….and im swinging with nearly no pain….i love this system,it allows one to concentrate on different sections of the swing ,then intergrate in again……easier.

No worries understand
Mac used to practice at the range I practiced at in Los Angeles. My mentor pro at the time had Mac caddy for him back in late 60;’s or ’70s Some funny stories.
Mac used to practice at the range after dropping his wife off for medical stuff. We watched him hit left and right-handed drivers off the deck. perfe3ct either way he hit it. I wish I would have taken more notice then, I was still early in my game development and didn’t really know who he was.
PS Feel free to pop by here if you are bored!

Depends on how we define expectations. Ours or his.

I looked into the TGM stuff but found it too confusing and technical. Hence, no contribution from me in this thread.
Don’t be put off by lack of interaction, reply posts, or others posting about TGM. You never know when someone may stumble on something you post and it ignites a discussion. Maybe? instead of a TGM thread, you do your own journal / journey thread?
In the meantime, I’m sure you get get lots if feedback posting on GolfWRX … they do seem quite forthright in their opinions and discussions on that forum at times.

We are a simple lot Brownman, but I for one am always interested in how others see things golf. I do not post in the TGM thread because as I have previously intimated, the technical/physics side of things is above my brain wavelength. I may not understand it all, but enjoy reading what others have found. Trying to conceptualise what is offered gives me something to do in the backyard as well. Doesn’t normally lead to anything, but it is still a bit of fun trying to achieve what is proffered. Even though I know I am doomed to failure before I start. 🙁 Although there are times when something clicks and a slight improvement in the striking or accuracy will step in. Don’t know why it happens but I am certainly happy to have it on board for as long as it lasts. Unfortunately I generally fall back into bad habits and lose what was found.
Maybe if you could do a TGM for dummies thread whereby what Homer was espousing in his own vernacular can be explained in a way us less minded folk can understand would be helpful. ” Brownman Deciphers the Teachings of TGM. ” Would be a good read me thinks.

OK, so here we go with possibly the first offerings of ” Brownman Deciphers the Teachings of TGM. ”
Can you explain in basic terms what you mean by the 3 hinges and their varying angles? What do they help you do? Once understood, I gather they are a good practice regime.
Also glad you got to enjoy some sunshine, fresh air and doing something golf related.
