OldBogeyParticipantStab at Warra today (what else?).
Most drives were straight today, for a change.
No wipes, three 1-points, five 3-points, = 38 points.
No money, but a ball dtl should be forthcoming.
And it will trim some more points off my ‘cap.

OldBogeyParticipantStab at Warra yesterday.
Scattered a few drives, waiting on every hole for those in front didn’t help. I felt uncoordinated.
On 2nd hole, hit the big cypress on the left, took out a magpie with 2nd shot, down the hill for 3, back of the green for 4, then on and missed the putt for a wipe. Ran out of shots on 6 (index 18). Good drive, then bunker, flew the green, on for 4, missed the putt.
All the rest were ones and twos (points) with nothing noteworthy.

OldBogeyParticipantThree threads about how shite high handicappers are and how they could be better. Hardly a good way to make me feel welcome as a new member round these parts 🙂
What’s new these days lads? 3 years off golf….but I’m back. Searching for a local comp to bandit my way to 47 points. Any options?
Where are you, Tonk?

OldBogeyParticipantGood stuff! Before you know it you won’t have any 2017 games in your 20 handicap rounds!
Yeah 2023 should see some movement..🤦♂️
It turns out I have 9 games from 2017 in my last 20, so I’m thinking Commish is right on the money.
You blokes should get out there and play a bit more. Golf can be fun.
The oldest round in my last 20 is 3 Nov, six weeks ago.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

OldBogeyParticipantThe usual stab at Warra today.
Front nine wasn’t too bad with 17 points and no dramas.
Back nine started with two wipes and another on 15 for another 13 points.
30 point total.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

OldBogeyParticipantOldies’ nine hole at Warra this morning. My handicap (they do it differently) had crept out to 22, which gives me 2 shots on two of the holes. You’d think I could do something worthwhile with that, but no.
Two 3-points but three 1-points for a 17 total.
So, I’ll be out to 23 for next time – 3 two shot holes. I won’t know what to do with them all.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

OldBogeyParticipantPlayed a 2 ball multiply (Stableford) at Gardiners Run yesterday. Playing off the white tees and the low rating had my 9.1 (G/L) convert to a 7 handicap for the day. I paired up with another lefty who was playing off 6. Par for the course is 72. The scoring was multiplying of each players stableford score….i.e 3 x3 = 9 for the hole. I kept my score on my GPS to see how I was travelling……..we hit off the back 9 first…
Back 9 – 20 points (37 OTS) 1 x birdie – 14 putts
Front 9 – 21 points (37 OTS) – 14 puttsFIR – 9
GIR – 10
Sand saves – 3 (One from a fairway bunker)
Par or better – 15
Putts – 28And that…….ladies and gentlemen…..is my BEST EVER score since I took this game up over 40 years ago.
As for our combined 2 ball score – 95 odd. About 10 points in front of second. We had about 7 – nine point holes and only wiped one hole when my partner had 3 in the bunker on the 3rd hole
Well done Francie. Are you going to join the club there so you can do that every week?

Front nine was characterised by nearly all 2-points, except for 1 wipe and one 3-point. So, that’s 17 points.
Back nine had no wipes but a heap of 1-points for just another 13 points.Off the 13th tee, I belted a ball straight into a gobbler (pine tree down to the ground) and had to re-tee, but still managed a 1-point. Happy to achieve the recovery.

OldBogeyParticipantVeterans’ golf resumed today, conveniently playing stab at Drouin. Drouin is somewhat longer than Warra with a heap of par5s and long par4s.
Shotgun start from the 6th, I had three 1-point and a 2 point on the front. Back nine had a wipe and some 1s but enough 3-points to garner 17 points. Returning to the front I had a 4-point birdie on the 1st but also a wipe and too many 1-points for another 15.Total: 32 points.
Second in A grade was 37 points which suggests it might have been a bit tough out there, with showers rolling through. But C grade was led by two players with 46 points. The course was in excellent condition although I found the greens a bit slow.
Back to Warra tomorrow.
we will have to better line up the Vets games so I can come and play some West events, the venues which are closer than some of the South ones.
Our next event is at schitt creek in Jan.

OldBogeyParticipantSince when is a 330m hole not driver, lob wedge, ever?!?
That’s the play every single day of the weekIf only I could hit the ball as well as you, Bumpy.
Provided my driver doesn’t put the ball into trouble, for me it’s driver & 4H or 9i depending on how well the driver went. It’s actually only a little over 300m so there’s no need for a big hit, but it’s still driver every time. My driver is no less accurate in direction than any other club in the bag.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

OldBogeyParticipantMM stroke at Warra today.
Except for one hole, I pIayed reasonably. One par, three doubles, one Bo Derek. The 5th hole is a short, level par4 with no bunkers. But there’s a road down the left side and a gully along the right side. My first drive went nicely up the left side but my ball took a sharp bounce left and through the fence OOB. Second drive repeated the first, bouncing through the fence. Third drive was deliberately pushed right but nestled against the trunk of a huge cypress with the only option being a chip onto the fairway, for 6. Hit up the fairway for 7, on for 8 and two putts.
Nett 80.
The 5th is indeed a tough hole and only 330 ish m in length = So 6I off tee, 9 I short, chip on take your 5. look happy
That’s giving up before you start. I’d rather go for a birdie chance, 1 fault and it’s a par, 2 faults and I have a 5. Your method leaves no room for errors and no chance of improving my position.
