Good to see your handicap is coming down Cap’n. I had another poor round yesterday so the way it’s going we’ll be close to similar handicaps come late October. I played off 15 yesterday (back blue markers so high adjustment) but still couldn’t play to it. ????

    Afternoon all,

After catching up with some of the well known knobs from this place for pizza last night I realised I hadn’t posted on this site for years. So this post is for me to say hello, and for you to relate what a good bloke I am, how incredibly handsome and well hung I may also be, and to invite me to come and play an elite golf course at genuine 1970s prices.

    Who??? ????

First round of our clubbies on Monday at Southern. Playing off 10 for the day as we were off the white tees and shotgun start. Stroke round and counting putts. Also playing our semi final of the doubles matchplay.
42 back 9 as we hit off on the 10 th. 15 putts
Down in the match – 2 down

    40 front 9 with 15 putts
82 nett 72 with 30 putts. Good enough for a ball dtl and somewhere in contention for B grade. Early days.

    Lost the match 2 & 1 after 3 of us birdied 8th

Cranbourne next Monday for the second round and then Keysborough the 17th for the final round……then it’s off to rainy NSW later that week for tbe NATS. Lost. 4 off the handicap after Monday….
Now 8.5…….no chance for the brass yacht ?

After a crazy year of wet weather, the gods…PJ ..decided to give us a break and turn on a superb day for the 7th running of the PJ Memorial event

It was great to be on the course again for just my 3rd game of the year, playing with Blacksnake and Greywolfe. A thoroughly enjoyable round, even though I still need the L plates for the remote buggy…note to self, do not leave remote in pocket when bending down to look at putting line. Special thanks to Blacksnake for his distance guidance…110m was it? And of course it was fantastic to have the SOI operating again…Nationals look out!

Thank you to all that played and contributed to this years funds, a total of $685.00 raised. Thank you Chris for keeping our company on the day as usual and for bringing such an amazing cake…now who was it that took home the balance of leftovers? You were very naughty in arranging the lunch!!

Results for the day: Yes Francie…Golflinked! 😛

    Winner: Schmuck 42pts
    R/Up: Barenski 38
    3rd: Greywolfe 35
    4th: Zookeeper 31
    5th: Commish 30
    6th: Snorkelguru 27
    7th: Peppas 26
    8th: Blacksnake 25
    9th: Rami (N/Score)

    NTP’s
    2nd: Commish
    4th: Zookeeper
    6th: Barenski
    9th: Peppas (Nearest in 2)
    17th: Commish

Snorkelguru invited his mate, Rami, who is new to golf and hopefully we will see him at future L4G event, even though he went through the Blacksnake interrogation process at lunch…”So, which call centre do you work at?” Absolute classic Blacksnake…and Rami took it well, firing back “How ironic that you have BLACK in your name!” 🙂

Ha….wish I was there to see his remote buggy disaster but I can imagine…..I’ve had a few close calls myself. I’m paranoid with mine any time we play a course with water. I’ve seen a few go in the drink and being rendered useless.

Looking forward to getting up to NSW in October and challengiing you to a buggy race. ?

Haven’t been in here for yonks, or at all!

3rd game for 2022 and was expecting to be super rusty.

Kooindah Waters was the venue, the 7th running of the L4G/PJ Memorial Event.

Starting off the 10th tee, playing off 16 so wasn’t expecting much. 3 bogeys to begin with followed by a wipe, 3 putt bogey, par, bogey 3 putt bogey and a one putt bogey to finish the 9 on 16pts.

Began the first nine with a par, (short birdie putt missed), par, bogey bogey, birdie, birdie, bogey, par (short birdie putt missed again!) and finally a wipe, (just to throw the anchor out eh France!) 😛 22pt for 38pt total, brought the GA down from 14.1 to 13.4

Bloody dumb-arse with the Nationals coming up, no flag dropping off for another 5 games!!

Will make defending the Brass Yacht very difficult.

Ha….always said your handicap was too big…even though you haven’t played much. You can put a lot of good holes together on your day and with that handicap it’s a good score. Good to see you aren’t handbraking but it may be that I’m going to have to give you around 8 shots each game. I’ll have to play out of my skin to get hold of the Brass Yacht and you saw the results of our mid year tourney on tbe Murray earlier this year. I’ve got a few more rounds before I travel to NSW and 3 of those are our clubbies so I’ll be trying to play around my current handicap.

Well done on today though. Some of my memories fom 4 years ago popped up on FB when I travelled up. Good times.

Having a look around it’s going to be tough to find a course to host us on a Sunday without much notice.

We could play at the Par 3 Course at Terrey Hills. It’s cheap, you don’t have to book and it’s a fun little course.

    http://www.par3golf.com.au

We could then have lunch and drinks down the road at the Terrey Hills Tavern.

    Just an idea.

Sadly I will be a scratching this year. I Have to be in regional Victoria, for grand kids birthday party, and to check on progress of house.
So have fun boys and girls, play well, avoid the national Naga

See you in 2023 on the Murray or some other venue.

Ahh…another chance to win without you…..sad you can’t be there.

Just a little boasting after today……

I’ve been playing fairly poorly of late (26 & 26 points) the last two rounds. Had to play our doubles handicap matchplay today as it was our last day to play it or we forfeited. I found out when I turned up that my partner had a positive Covid test on Saturday night and couldn’t play. I had to play aginst the two other players by myself. One is off about 4 handicap and the other off 6…I was playing off 10….

Shotgun start off the 2nd at Commonwealth GC and playing stableford. Won the 2nd and 3rd hole and managed to be 3 up after 8 (the front 9)
    Lost the 10th
    Won the 11th
    Halved the 12th
Lost the 13th (after 3 putting)
    Halved the 14th (after 3 putting)…getting nervous
    Halved the 15th (NTP)
    Won 16th…and 5 & 4 or somthing around that?

So satisfying that I kept it together and hopefully my partner and I can go futher….

As for my round……18 and 15 for 33 points and a BDTL and NTP.

Probably back to crap next week at Cape Schanck?

Masters Cup yesterday at Southern. 120 odd players including Southern members and Vic Pol GC members….and ladies. Shotgun start after the telecast finished and after a hot breakfast.
Playing Stableford off white tees and 12 handicap.

Started on 13th (2nd hardest hole) Holed the my bunker shot for birdie and four points….pared the 14th (hardest hole) one putt. Birdied the 15th with one putt, pared 16th, birdied 17 and one putt and bogied 18 after a chip out.
    Front 9 had 21 points.
Back 9 had 23 points (with a wjpe on 10)

44 points won the day overall and gets my name on the perpetual frame and a new golf bag. (I was going to buy a new one)

Just one of those days where nearly everything went perfect.
    10 FIR
    9 GIR
    1 Sand save
    29 putts
    14 pars or better

    34pts today, golf is great!!!

I got back “on the horse” on Thursday at Moonah Links (open course)……..first game after the Murray trip. 14 on the front and 21 on the back off 11. 35 points got me nothing but a little bit of self pride….

Did you tell everyone that you love golf as well???

    No….

Stableford yesterday at Lang Lang…..playing off 12 hcp and white tees and also playing a 7 handicapper in the scratch matchplay.

18 points on tne front and square in the match.
    15 points on the back.

Lost the matchplay 3&2 after a couple of double bogeys and a bogey.

Nothi g down the line but managed a ball for nearst the pin on the 9th.
