Can break 80Participant4BBB Stab at Warra today.
We had 40 points which was ok but well off the winners.
As miscore now keeps track of social rounds, I entered mine as a social while partner recorded team scores. I had 15 & 18 for a 33 total, with no wipes. I played the front nine with a pink ball and played like a sheila, then switched to a yellow for the back nine.Placebo effect ?
Can break 80Participantplayed in south gippsland open mixed day at Lang Lang (the new home of golf today). (course was in terrific condition and greens just a little slower than “normal Lang lang speed) (those readers who have played course will know what I mean)
been baby sitting grand kids all week so was nice an relaxed with low expectations on out come.
good process from start and didn’t want to let partner down.I played well to game plan and had 80 OTS= 35 points. Lady partner of 14 had 32 so we combined well and had 67 points for a win. (she is also coached by the super coach, so that was a nice connection for us.)
wife is happy with the nice voucher I won, as will give her more things to buy for new house.
good part about game was that I didnt have an out on card and even better was very consistent as didnt score worse than 5 on any hole, this is second time this year I have done this in a round and 2 out of last 4 rounds where haven’t had an out, so getting some degree of consistency back in my game.
travelling this week to country, and back on Friday just in time for club championships next Saturday.
Can break 80ParticipantWhat caused the DB’s CB80?
I hit 4 DB today too. ( just to make you feel better) Mine were caused by 3 putts and one muck up tee shot and poor second shot trying to make up for the tee shot. The greens at Heywood have more slope and I didn’t do well at short putts ( speed control) , So near, yet so far. How can a ball bend at 90 degrees over less than a metre?
4 DB were caused by 3 poor tee shots and 1 x3 putt.. All caused by not committing to the shots. What made it worse was that it was on my home course, where should know not to have DB.
lesson with coach next Friday will focus me again-

Can break 80ParticipantVets at Lang Lang today. Single stab, but average scores determined which tean won.
West Gipps beat South Gipps by one point, 28/27. I passed the trophy on to our captain so it won’t have to decorate my dining room for another year. How did I play? Only one wipe, 31 points.
The usual mid-week stab at Warra tomorrow.
Well done to the Wests at the new home of golf. South had 8 players not turn up so this didnt help us.
My score was 26 points today, which didnt help team South.
2Pars, 12 Bogeys, 4 DB.
game is down at moment.
90 OTS, follows on from my 89 at Keysborough on Thursday.
Baby sitting duties over the weekend and will be same next weekend, but its lovely thing to do and playing with grand children is far more enjoyable playing bad golf.
So I need to really focus and improve 10 to 12 shots within 2weeks if going to be competitive in club championships and in pennant.
Can break 80ParticipantWho is going to watch this new show with a mini golf theme?? Have a watch and see some golf pros on it.
Golfer Girl, Becky Kay, some Golf Australia people.
Should be fun to see them get smashed up!
watched first half hour and decided it was a combination of mini golf and the UK show called wipe out.
lost interest in show after first episode.
The US commentator really ended it for me, not even funny. It was really sad that a great golf personality like Greg Norman could put his name to this show…….
Can break 80ParticipantBack out playing again after sale of house and moving process now complete.
Yesterday played in Golf Australia 4bbb championship (old Mazda tournament) at keys borough GC with Wozz.
we combined well together for 38 points. winners had 49.
highlights of game Wozz birdied 17 4/3 and 18 3/4 so a good finish of 20 to our first 9
l
me I lost 2 balls o n13th and 14. then pared 4 in a row for 17th and helped hold us o n18 points on holes 1to 9.
good fun to paly with Wozz again and have a nice meal at end.next week is MM at Langy followed by club championships in mid march and pennant. focus now is on improvement of game to be in top 12 in club championships and win a lot of matches this year.
Can break 80ParticipantVets at Yallourn today. Stab, shotgun, started on the 14th off a 19 handicap.
Started with three 2-points, but wiped 17 & 18 with some errant shots. More errant shots on the front nine causing 1-pointers and only a few 3-points with a total 17 points for that half.
Back to the back nine for our last 4 holes and a few more 3-pointers (including the index-19 511m 13th) for a 16 point sum.
Total of 33 points was just small enough to miss out on a ball DTL.CB80 joined us as a recce for the upcoming Eastern Zone Challenge there in April.
Our sponsor for the event was a retirement village / aged care facility so we had to let the chick from there give her spiel, then our AGM which had been postponed from last year.
Lunch was good and the course was in very good condition although the greens were somewhat slow.
Back to Warra tomorrow.
Thanks OB
enjoyed Yallourn course, my game was off today maybe due to early start with taxi pick up at 6.00am. ddint sleep in taxi on way to course.
31 points – no outs on any hole which is second round in a row with out a wipe. process was good and stayed focussed and chipped well.
At least I broke 90. = 3 pars 13 bogeys 2 DB
1 highlight of day was a 5 on Par 5 13th.(index3) driver hit tree off tee and dropped straight down, hit 3w from a reasonable lie, then another 3w into wind to 140m mark, then a punched 4 iron to 2m from pin, rolled the putt nicely into cup.2 highlight Dancer having 39 points to finish 2nd in C grade so well done to him, it was a happy drive home.
South have adjusted our fixture before hand to 12th April for Eastern zone challenge, and look forward to playing to a different game plan next time i play Yallourn.
see you Monday 1st at Langy We are currently at 44 players, so we have a bit of ringing around to do to get our numbers up to give good challenge.

Can break 80ParticipantPlayed Par with Olinda Golf Club at Beacy.
I started well with 4 pars for +4, playing off 17 on Lakes/Hills front. But I couldn’t maintain that progress, having pulled that back to +2 at the halfway mark. Onto the Hills course and my putts persisted in lipping out with five losses in a row on the first 5 holes. Then I parred the 6th (index 18 so that was only a half) but I did win the NTP on that one. Finished that 9 with a -4 for an overall -2.
So, not too bad. Most drives were straight up the middle with only a couple of poor drives. All the lipping out putts annoyed me.
Out for pennant tomorrow – the team captain wants to get everyone qualified for the finals (need two games).
Vets event at Yallourn on Monday.See you at Yallourn on Monday. South have put together a good strong group of players in an attempt to win back the coveted trophy.
Can break 80ParticipantGreat to back on course for a OOM, congratulations Muffman thanks to Muzz, Peter and John for the company enjoyable as always. Muzz me consistent as always.

Can break 80Participanthow far? would you need a train?
There’s a queue for that train
Do we need to wear masks on the train.?
Can break 80Participantnext week is going to be hot, in Victoria, so lots of people will flock to the beaches, and or get outside in sun and fresh air and enjoy them selves, the ingredients for health living, instead of being cooped up in side.
Anyone want to bet against the lock down extending to end of February, even into March.…….
Can break 80ParticipantDay off tomorrow and dropped from Sunday’s pennant match after my loss. But that’s 70km away at Traralgon so I’ll enjoy the sleep in.
Serious question and not having a dig at you this time, but isn’t it generally accepted and expected that the fellas in the team who aren’t playing that week still go with the team?
Either caddying or sitting in the cart drinking beers supporting the players that week? No, caddies are very rare, the odd wife or kid.
Most players drink enough without further encouragement.
Even the ’emergency’ player is not expected to be present.
We have 12 or 13 players in our team and only need 7 for each match. Imagine the catering problems if twice as many turned up, or none did after allowing for them. There are multiple matches at the course which is closed to others until mid arvo.
The emergency player should always turn up, with his clubs, warm up on practice fairway or in the net and have a practice putt, and be ready to play, until he is told he is not required that game.
I have seen on so many occasions where players fall over in car park, or hurt back in warm up, or get a phone call on way to course that a players car has broken down, etc ,etc and cannot play, and the emergency is needed.
for those team who dont have emergency ready, they are 1 match down, also if emergency plays, he often wins.
Can break 80ParticipantI played nine holes with my son-in-law and my 2 year old grandson in the cart yesterday. New age baby sitting! We took in turns to make sure the little fella didn’t run into a swinging club. He is fast! He took great delight in hammering a red castle tee into the ground then hitting the ball with a plastic club. We might have another leftie in the family!
My son -in-law made par for the 9. He was happy!
I was trying to keep the ball in play off the tee. I did O.K. except on an attempted fade that went left on hole 6 and clipped the trees. Same on hole 9. I have realized that my fade shot is essentially going straight, so I need to aim where I want it to go, not left of and expecting a fade at the end. I practised my hybrid shots and hit a few good ones. I played 10 & 11 alone until I caught up with a 4-some on 12, so I quit. I was hungry!
My score was 2 pars, 8 bogeys and one double. I hit several 200 m > drives. Only one three putt on a par 5 ( on for 4 after my 207 m drive rolled under a pine tree and my punch out shot clipped the tree).enjoy grandchildren while you can, they grow up so quickly.
great effort of par from your son in law.It looks like we Victorians have to enjoy every game of golf we play as it seems we are destined to be back on the lockdown merry go round for all of this year.

Can break 80ParticipantTony and I went to Warrnambool to play today. It has been a while since either of us had played that course. The weather was cool-ish, misty wain and a southerly wind; typical SW Victorian conditions. Fairways were lush and greens fast ( for us) and bunkers had soft sand in them. I found the course to be very scenic.
The course has many uphill and down sale fairways, some with side hill lies. Using a push cart we were felling the effect after a few hours. I hit 7 pars, 8 bogeys and 3 doubles. 85 strokes , plus three unplayable lies penalties.
Two steps forward
1) I hit most fairways ( missed two right side) and on the shipwreck holes I used my 19 Hybrid off the tee to find the fairways with reasonable distance.
2) I used the 4W a few times today with accuracy. One Step back
1) I took too long to come to terms with the fast greens ( to many 3 putts / 40 putts in total), plus I ran out of fairway length once, hooked a Hybrid into the weeds, and one where I hit a ball a bit wide into the deep rough. All unplayable. I should have been more conservative.Warrnambool is a Gr8 course, and one I have on my 2021 tournament list. The event is on in mid November.
really tests your game. -
