xrmanParticipantWell done Weetbix! It shows you are improving when you can overcome some poor shots and still break 80.

xrmanParticipantStroke at Warra yesterday.
Nett 34 out, nett 44 back. Damnit !
No 3-putts but only four 1-putts.course should be in good condition after Super 6 event in mid December.
BUT did you break 100 for the dayNo, I didn’t.
There’s a pro-am tomorrow, so the course is still in excellent condition.
No excuses except for the wind which affected putting more than anything else. I just kept hitting trees.I feel your pain. The strong easterly winds were a curse. the best that I could figure out was to curve it into the wind and allow the ball to straighten out in t. The par 5 #16 hole at our course runs West to East. With the wind blowing hard it is a par 6!
Are the easterly winds due to the annual upwelling which occurs along your coastline about this time of year.?
I am not sure about the wind direction being related to the up welling. It strong though, even for here.

xrmanParticipant7 a.m. practice session
1) Tee shots sorted by stance change
2) putting face control improved by slight grip change that stopped me closing the face. Line it up and let it go and don’t look up.
3) Hybrid chipping worked out two methods that worked; one for level chips and one for up and over rises.
4) chipping with LW/SW no fat and thin shots using Steve Johnson’s lead hand strong/ trail hand weak grip.Golf is fun again.

xrmanParticipantIt wasn’t my best day on the course today. It was blowing hard from the East and I found it hard to find the fairways off the tee.
Then at the other end of the hole I missed a few sitters.
92 OTS; far too many doubles ( 6)
On the bright side , my short game worked OK.1 user liked this post.
xrmanParticipantI played in the local Stableford comp this morning. The weather was cool and overcast with light winds, then it rained, then the wind strengthened from the South and it got a bit warmer at the end.
I played consistently average golf! 89 OTS.( 4pars, 11 bogeys and three doubles)
I hit 6/14 fairways, 8 GIR, 2 up and downs. The down side was 38 putts. Today it felt like there was a force field around the hole. Not just for me but we all struggled to drop them today. I got the long ones close, but anything within 8 m I missed.
I was consistently leaving the Driver face open at impact today. Not a lot ( no huge slices) but I rolled a tee shot into the trees on the right on hole #4 and had to punch out, then the same on Hole #9, and mishit the approach shot with my 6 Hybrid into the weeds left side. Or how to hit double bogeys.
Two steps
1) Driver distance has improved
2) short game accuracy was improvedOne Step back
1) This is a hard one to determine. My putter speed control was off today, leaving too many short from inside 8 m. But, my faded tee shots were initially a bit too far right start line wise and went too far right. I got it better as the game went on. My last tee shot was an attempted fade with my 4W. I turned it over and ended up 20 m wide of the green, left side. Oops!1 user liked this post.
xrmanParticipantI played a 9 hole practice round using recycled Kirkland Signature balls.
Those balls really spin high. I noticed a slight drop in driver distance, but any shot to the green stopped dead.2 users liked this post.
xrmanParticipantSo in review I am accurate with 9 i and shorter clubs, not bad distance wise with 7 , 8 iron and a bit hit and miss with the 6 Hybrid.

xrmanParticipantI did a quick 10 holes before my booster Covid shot this arvo. Geoff from Adelaide is down for a visit for a few days.
I tried to hit my tee shots straight and hit 6/8 fairways. My average drive was 200 m / best 224m . I am happy with that.
4/10 GIR: 2/6 up and downs;18 putts and average approach shot was 118 m.
one birdie, 5 pars, 3 bogeys and one double on a par three ( 3 putted it/ it was very fast in comparison to the other greens)OTS 44 .
One thing for sure is that it is easier to hit the greens from 10 m closer after a good tee shot.
I missed the green on hole 1 when I misjudged the club to get to the green with the wind behind me. Used GW and ended 10 m short
I missed the green on hole 2 when my 7 iron shot drifted right and into the bunker with the wind. Pin high though.
Missed the green right just on #3 with 8 iron.
Missed the green right on #4 with GW ( ? wind maybe)
Missed #5 with 4 W tee shot left
on #6 my tee shot went through the dog leg just ( 211m) so I had no shot other than a punch shot out from the trees, but got GIR.
Got GIR with 71 m SW shot
Missed the green on 8 par 3 ( windy hill) and the 6 Hybrid shot blew right by 20 m
Missed the green on #9 with a punch shot from 124 m out, ran through the green.
Hit the green with a 7 i 128 m out on #10
xrmanParticipantWe played Agg Stab last Monday at Vets. My partner and I played a good 9 holes each, which didn’t really make the cut.
xrmanParticipantone birdie, 5 pars, 9 bogeys and 3 doubles; 87 OTS
handicap drop to 14
xrmanParticipantone birdie, 5 pars, 9 bogeys and 3 doubles; 87 OTS
xrmanParticipantWell I didn’t manage to replicate my form. My tee shots were a bit wayward. Not disastrous, but not in the middle of the fairway either. I gave the short 3 Hybrid a good work out with punch shots, 7 iron lateral chips and a few wedges over the trees needed to get back into play. My approach shots got me back into contention and putting worked today.
It was a combined Stableford 2 man team event. My partner had a bad back 9 but came home with a wet sail on the front 9, scoring a series of pars in a row.Two steps
1) chipping and putting worked
2) punch shots with the single length hybrid workedOne step back
Driver shot aim was off and my fades either went too far right or not at all.
xrmanParticipantStrange days indeed! I think climate change will eventually make SW Victoria the new Queensland ( I should live that long) .
The other day we had what could best be described as a tropical storm. 60 mm of heavy rain in an hour and hail stones that smashed through laser light roofing and damage both my cars and caravan ( slight dents). Then some dry still days with a bit of humidity.Today I went out to check my cart batteries ( confirmed as dead) and walked 9 holes. No wind, just a hint of a breeze. It feels eerie.
I played the back 9 working on getting used to my new Driver. I hit 6/7 fairways and my average distance was 196m / longest 216 m. I only hit 2/9 GIR as I was approaching from 145 m on average. I missed left and right but mostly pin high. I got up and down 2/7 and total putts 15. it should have been 14, because I missed a very short putt on the 13th hole for a 3 putt.Arccos is telling me that my Driver distance and approach shots are the reason I am 1.6 strokes off performing at 8 handicap. I agree with the approach shots. Even when I am approaching from closer in, my control of my irons is not great at present. Distance with my Driver I think is pretty good for my age. It is a filter they will no doubt add to Arccos in time.
Now if I can play like this tomorrow in the Vets comp I will be very happy.
