I think the joy from the Driver finally behaving and becoming a reliable tight draw/ straight shot made other minor issues, minor!

I could have been slightly critical of my fades with Driver being too” spinny” and fading too much/ short. They were still playable and some of the excess movement right was probably wind effect. I should have launched them more left to allow for the wind, but I wasn’t sure if the weight adjustment would lead to no fade at all.

Practising in wild weather is good training for those days when the elements make golf difficult.

    Two steps forward
    1) Tee shots into the wind ; I teed the ball a little lower and further back in my stance and got a low penetrating drive.
    2) I have added 11 gm of weight ( lead tape) to the heel side of my driver, Now I am getting my Driver’s face closed at impact. No more right sided push/ fade shots.

    One step back.
    1) can’t think of one.

    You are welcome.Madam.

There is a lot of advertising hype about golf product. Sometimes it is helpful to have an opinion of a owner of the equipment to discuss pros/ cons. Opinions are like arse holes, we all have one.

I should have prefaced my postings with the fact that I am a senior golfer / mid handicap. The problem I find with product evaluations I see is that it is usually a Pro level player giving his opinion. Occasionally they have a mid -handicapper guest presenters doing the evaluation. I can identify with those guys and their less than perfect swings. Still just hitting a club a few times isn’t a great evaluation. For me it takes a few games to get a feel for a club.

I think I have solved the spectacles fogging up when wearing a face mask.

We used to use a solution called ” Clear Dip” by Butler when I worked in dental surgery. It kept the mouth mirror clear of fog and also my spectacles. It isn’t easy to source. It works.

An alternative idea I heard of but haven’t tried yet is to dip your lends in a weak solution of pure soap and let it dry. I have some Lux flakes ( pure soap) so I will give this a try. The flakes dissolve in very hot water. You can also use this idea as a lube for changing motorcycle tyres, rather than buying tyre grease.

Another option I saw on Face Book is to fold a facial tissue in on both edges to reduce the width, then fold it over in thirds. The idea is that you line the bridge of your nose with the tissue and overlay the mask to hold it in place.I tried it and it works, especially with fabric home made masks.

Played the new Yellow version for 3 holes last Sunday.
nice click off the tee shots, and irons,
greens where we played were soft and bumpy, so its hard to judge a ball short game performance, but lets just say the ball was too good for that type of green.
I ended up playing another 3 holes with a GOKER flower ball perfect ball for those greens.

The new trail balls now get 6 weeks virus leave, before the next on course test.
I will be able to evaluate on putting matt in lounge, and 20m chips in back yard.

So I take it you are in Melbourne?
I have another 11 Vision balls to test ( ProV?) but I am reluctant to use them in case I lose them in the mud. A $2 ball gone forever, submerged under the fairway isn’t so disappointing.

I have a compliant ! The lovely yellow Vision Ball that Bogey Golfer gave me to try is obviously not bright enough for me to find it in the OOB Coboboonee Forest adjacent to the Heywood golf course.

Before that the ball was very good to hit, durable and I scored well with it.

I played at Heywood Golf Course today. It was cold and rained intermittently. It had obviously rained a lot since last week as the fairways had turns to mush. I wanted to evaluate a set of clubs I have been acquiring for my wife’s upcoming birthday.

    Two steps forward

    1) The 14 degree GX7 mini Driver was a reliable club off the tee for draw shaped shots.
    2) I eventually got used to playing variable length irons again. The Cleveland HB Launcher irons were pretty good on the soft conditions.

    One step back

    1) The use of a 4 degree bounce in the mud was a big messy mistake.
    2) I had to play without my glasses because of fogging issues wearing a mask.

What a difference a week makes in winter. Last week the Heywood Golf course was in great condition, firm fairways and fast greens. Then it rained over the weekend. Being on north slopes of Mount Clay, it must be sand over a clay base on the fairways. Once the clay is soaked the water stays in place. Today the fairways wee soggy and the greens not so fast ( suites me) . There are some nice views of the Volcanic Mt. Napier and Mt . Eccles, great forest adjacent and farm lands. Rather large Kangaroo mobs often sun themselves and look on golfers with disdain. All in all, a nice and challenging 18 hole course in SW Victoria. Keep it in the fairways, or else!

    Your advice is most welcome.

I think I need to take very short putts more seriously. I ran one around the rim from 300 mm out yesterday( too fast). The other 3 occasions my second putt ran up to the lip and stopped. The greens were wet and slower than usual. I am getting better at lag putting.

Distance control with short chips was an issue yesterday. Too short mostly. Using less loft is something I will try today, but it will be at a different golf course with faster greens. Hybrid is a possible solution with a putting action. I usually use GW, Pw, 9i from further out.

Playing in swirling winds of 50-60 k.p.h. and hail isn’t a lot of fun.

    Two steps forward
    1) My iron approach shots were reasonably good shape wise and I hit the back of the greens a few times when I clubbed up to make sure I hit the green.
    2) I managed to keep a lot of shots low and out of the wind.

    One step back

    1) 4 by three putts. plus several botched tee shots.

I hit an 82 today. I wondered if I have hit my limit, being twice what my last effort was for 9 holes!

    Two steps forward
    1) My tee shots were much better in shape and consistency and I even got a 221m total Driver shot.
    2) I got my single length 19 degree hybrid to work today. The trick is to play the ball either middle or slightly back of stance. In reality it gives a 3 iron like flight, not a usual Hybrid high trajectory. SL hybrids are in essence designed to replace an iron in the single length set, not as a rescue club only. I used it three times today for partial shots; one punch shot out of the trees, one bump and run from 77 m out and one putter style roll onto the green.

    One step back
    1) 3 putts twice. Second putt was close, but no cigar.

Don’t think about the score while playing, just the process to get your next shot in the best possible place. The score will take care of itself.

I am surprised that you managed to paint the house while recovering from Rheumatic fever. That is a nasty disease, but luckily not that common these days. Possibly with antibiotic usefulness declining, it will come back to haunt us.
    Enjoy your golf!
