WeetbixParticipantSurely 3 birdies is THE highlight?
WeetbixParticipantWhat started well ended up being a poor and Poo worthy performance at RiverLakes. The course was in good condition, but the greens were furry and slow and a bit bumpy. But as a value course it was really good.
Played off 6 which I think is my lowest playing handicap ever
Finished with 3 over and 19 points on the back, but after an excellent first 7 holes to be 1 over with 17 points the writing was on the wall with 2 1 point birdies on 17 and 18
And it was to be that I had a 7 over 43 for 13 points on the front which was 3 behind my nearest Poo competitor, although well off NAGA
1 birdie 8 pars 7 bogies 2 doubles
Story of the collapse was a case of the pulls/hooks that led to a lot of bogeys and a couple of doubles, and a lack of good short game shots to recover
6/13 fairways – 1 dropped with driver that ran 270m to find the very edge of a hazard that cut into the fairway in line with the pin and needed to be chipped out, 1 dropped from pulled into a tree.
8 GIR – good stat but 6 were in the first 8 holes. 1 draw 3h cost me a shot, but I had wedges and short irons into greens that I messed up badly and didn’t save.
3/9 up and downs – all 3 Texas were up and down, nothing else. 2 dropped from LW bunker shots, 2 from LW chips and 2 from PW chips.
34 putts – 2 3 putts offset by 1 25 footer for birdie. Didn’t putt too badly as the first 3 putt was from 60ft, although the 2nd was from a weak fat 2nd putt.
I think I was setting up a bit closed because I was avoiding the fades which I’ve had a bit of lately, and the No Turn Cast training info said that people often get the hooks with this while their body and hands learn new patterns so may have been a bit of that too
Oh well – hopefully better next week
WeetbixParticipantWhat would your ruling have been if it wasn’t Senior Champs?
I still would have said the same thing. My protests did not change the outcome on the day, and would like to know what your ruling here is Captain?
Have a look at 15.3.b and tell me what you think.
15.3 Ball or Ball-Marker Helping or Interfering with Play?
Maybe find that rule and then scroll up a bit?
Or I could have totally f#€ked up!
15-3 it is

WeetbixParticipantWell I think if length is an issue I wouldn’t penalise my TSIP stats because of that – even if I don’t have a club to reach the green – I imagine as the years go by that will become a reality for me too
Most courses we play will only have a few par 4s over 360m off the white tees – handicap will have to handle that – so even with a 190-200m tee game most par 4s are in play

WeetbixParticipantHow was your IPIR?
WeetbixParticipantMaybe – I don’t see the similarities myself but that’s why there are different instructors and approaches because we all connect the dots differently
I like Malaska and he is definitely on the same path as Monte because they both were impacted by the method that was pushed of holding lag and pulling the handle and are pushing back against that

WeetbixParticipantYep
I’ve heard numerous times that for the pros not losing shots is even more important than making birdies so my statistical approach is focussed on removing waste
But my course management is still focussed on scoring and where possible I attack par 5s in 2
And as my 40-60m pitch game improves I will take on more par 4s and aim to get closer to the green rather than lay back in my more comfortable 70m plus range -
