Redcliffe off the blues today and a shotgun start. 37pts which I was very happy with considering I stuffed by back on Fathers Day.

Played off six. First nine holes made everything for par. Something like 6 one puttS🤛

    Only one birdie

Slow deteriorating of game on last 5 holes. And a three putt. Should move my cap a bit

Media estimates suggest that one million Victorians will move to Qld and NSW over the next 12 months.
Before covid-19, Melbourne was on track to overtake Sydney in population in the next couple of years. That estimate is now out to 20 years or more, if ever, due to the massive reduction in employment as an ongoing consequence of the severe lockdown.

They wont be moving in the next 12mths!

Maybe 12mths from when the borders let Vics in;)

Bit off today at Mt Warren Park, which was in pretty good condition and played tough in quite strong wind

My 14 19 33 off 11 was equal 2nd best score of our 12, but Sandy smashed the field with a 38

    7 pars 9 bogies 1 double 1 triple
Felt worse than that as I didn’t drop a putt all day and seemed to manage bad bounces whenever I gave the course a chance to bite me

7/14 fairways – 1 dropped shot off the tee on 1 when my drive stayed in a tree it bounced up into which led to my wipe on the opening hole. Overall drove pretty well

5 GIR – 4 shots dropped from iron shots that left me in places that were difficult to get up and down and in 1 case required a dropped. Bit disappointing because of a couple of pushed 5 irons that cost me including a drop – they weren’t that far off line but they just bounced into bad spots. The wind certainly added to the challenge of finding the green.

5/13 up and down – dropped 5 shots
1/6 PW chips but only 2 dropped shots as the others were either not realistic up and downs (1) or were inside 6ft so the penalty is on the putter (2)
    1/3 LW chips – 2 shots dropped
    3/4 Texas – 1 dropped

33 putts – dropped 4 from 2×3 putts and 2 missed up and downs inside 6ft I should have made

Not a terrible score considering I didn’t feel I played well, the wind made things very tough and I got some tough bounces so no complaints. Only major disappointment was mishit LW pitch and then PW chip and 3 putt on 1 leading to a wipe when it should have been at least a double and a point.

It sure is an interesting one, Commish.
One hand, she has done a very commendable job in ensuring that our numbers are so low and that unexplained community transmission has been all but zero.
The flip side is that there are a lot, a very lot of businesses falling over who rely on not just international or interstate tourists, but movement of Queenslanders too.
They hurt even more when we get rewarded with the greatest interstate tourism opportunity in a lifetime in getting the big dance to know that it won’t actually help, rather some big wigs lob in taking all of the seats away from the fans.

My supervisor at work looked to book a few nights at Broadbeach over Christmas, a mere $800 a night, more than double… that’s not going to help anyone.

wow $800pn! that is nuts you can come stay at my place for half of that;)

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

And this coming from your erudite self who owns a cat. Minus 100 points for you, Pal.

    Wow flashback to 2018!

The “how did you play” threads should be taken out of the”golf course” category. Perhaps a whole new category can be created for these.

    fixed moved to Practice Range

I’ve never played a round of golf on the practice range before,,, might have to give it a go. Surely I couldn’t go any worse… Hmmm

You have been doing it all wrong all these years Commish!

    PS

    Practice Range
This area is to discuss your golf game, swing, strategy, techniques and/or feel free to start an improvement journal to track your game progress.

I’m not liking the tone that this thread has taken, all I am taking out of this is that somehow the lower handicappers are now the bad guys when the whole point is to bag out higher ones and what they do wrong.

Let’s bring the focus back to the high hanficappers please.

No matter what anyone thinks- lower handicappers are lower for a reason, and higher ones are not;)

I find myself in the uncomfortable position of agreeing with OB on a few of these points. Given that I play (or did play) every week with a group of low single-digit players, my view is the following:

    1. They don’t take enough club
I do enjoy the “this is my 220m club” call. I did that with my 3h. I once hit it 213m. It became my 213m club.
I think this one is fair. But can equally apply to low handicappers…but I do think is more prevalent in high handicappers.

    2. They don’t know their miss
Also fair…mostly in that there are so many options. Having said that…I know my miss is an filthy armsy-pull left…but hey…I try not to limit myself.

    3. They overthink shots
Hmmm…agree with OB. especially in the putting area. The amount of time and analysis that some of the lower handicap guys put into the putts is frightening. Possibly that’s why they are lower…but I digress…

    4. They get too angry after bad shots
Again…uncomfortably…agreeing with Mr Not my Pants. Choppers know they are choppers, and generally speaking accept that they are on the handicap they are on for a reason. With Mouldy being an obvious exception. I have seen some of the best club chucks of my life since playing with the low handicappers.

    5. They never play for bogey
Yeah…I call bullshit on this one. Most high handicappers rejoice in bogey. Most low handicappers think the round is fucked as soon as they drop a shot.

    Now…off to have a shower.

tell us about your 73mtr club please!
