Hack2489ParticipantWell the ball striking wasn’t quite as good today but it wasn’t too bad at Moonah Open. The course was in excellent condition although the greens were surprisingly slow even though they looked schmick.
Finished with 3 over 39 front for 19 and 8 over 43 back for 19 as well so 10 over and 38 points
9 pars 8 bogies 1 double
8/14 fairways – driver wasn’t too bad today but cost me from a low hook into a bunker on 8 requiring a SW escape
8 GIR – a few poor shots but mostly hit the ball ok. Had a few hooks that made pars difficult but overall not too bad. Dropped 2 shots from a hooked 7i into a bunker left on 13 which left no realistic up and down as the ball rolled way down the hill, a thin PW from the heavy rough on 14 requiring an AW wedge from the same rough next shot. Thin 7i on 15 and hooked 9i on 16 and 17 left extremely difficult pars but I gave the drops to my short game below.
2/8 up and downs – technically 1 bit again 1 was from a bad putt inside 3ft. Dropped 5 shots – 4 from Texas wedges, 1 8i chip on 15 which was a good chip as I was in a difficult position.
36 putts + 4 Texas – dropped 2 shots from a 3 putt (from 60ft at least so the 9i before shares a lot of the blame), and a short miss on 10. Putted much better and made some good second putts after short first putts on the slow greens.
Very happy with the 10 over on a challenging course and got me down to 10.0 handicap.
How does 3 over on the front 9, then 8 over on the back 9, equal 10 over for the round?

Hack2489ParticipantMy return to Queensland golf wasn’t too good yesterday. 17 over 88 at Surfers Paradise. Driver was off which wasn’t good on such a tight course – but it wasn’t on its lonesome by a long way.
Got some unlucky breaks too which definitely cost me on the scorecard.
Onwards and upwards though
Or downwards rather
What’s SPGC like. I’m playing there Monday week in a Charity day.

Hack2489ParticipantI find I score much better if I do not add up my score as I go around. Just write down the result and any tracking your doing at the end of each hole and then move on. Add it up when finished whole 18.
Everytime I score better and then start to think score I lose shots by stupid errors.
It’s the focus on score, outcome, that stuffs me up the most. Maybe try playing thinking only about the shot at hand and not think score. If you catch yourself thinking score, or future shot, last shot error, then stop for a minute and refocus on the shot at hand.
My PB is an 86 OTS, 14 over which was 8 over after 5 holes, -2 for back 8, but double bogey on 18. I started thinking score waiting on the 18th tee!

What size are your shoes and are they left + right or right + left?
Hmmm, these shoes … what about lie angle and length? Are they standard or more upright? And flex. What flex profile? Are they tipped?

Hack2489ParticipantHi Hack. Been out with the AP’s? Or surf too good or back too bad?
Well, now that you ask, the golf clubs have collected dust.
And, with that, I feel this needs more content, so I think I need to give surf reports.
So, the first comes from Tullamarine.
Yes, all you Victoria wannabe golfers need to think surf check. Get out there, it’s goin’ off

Hack2489ParticipantAside from Bumps political aspirations, it would seem L4G now has 97 registered users …
Why are they not all contributing?

Hack2489Participantdo we have the ability to delete posts after we’ve done them?
more often than not I say things that I shouldn’t which will then probably be mined by the boffins in the ALP and used against me when I do dabble in politics, so I would delete them off ISG after a moment of reflection…
can I do that here too?Can we just clarify your political aspirations are to stand for pre-selection with the Labor party? You’re worried the candidate screening process may dig up some dirt on you? Your own party? What?
Has that ever happened in Australia? With the Labor party?

Hack2489ParticipantI sort of liked the last read feature on that other site, instead of having to trawl the pages, or am I missing something…..
A little arrow shows up for latest post- we are still looking at how to do the last read set up.
This platform is very basic set up- have to upgrade to get more features like ISG has.
Well pick away at tweaks where we can and hopefully find some further functions via these free bolt ons.
Logged in users ‘should’ have a “WORDPRESS” icon in the top left, that when clicked shows a “dashboard”. You can customise your own dashboard and it includes ‘recent posts’. Is that the sort of thing you need?
If so, the same functionality should be able to be incorporated into the ‘main’ forum area as a ‘widget’… either left, right, top or bottom of page, in the “page” layout settings.
I’ll just add this disclaimer, my knowledge here is much like getting golf swing tips from random people off the internet.

Hack2489ParticipantAs you’ll all no doubt hear in the mainstream media today, the ‘productivity commission’ has released it’s DRAFT report into Mental Health in Australia.
News reports seem to have jumped onto two aspects:
1. The cost per day, and
2. Having ‘well being’ counselors in schoolsFor those interested, you can read the full report, and a good overview summary here: https://www.pc.gov.au/inquiries/current/mental-health/draft
It’s open for written submissions until 23 January 2020.
I can’t help but think with the experience of many in the L4G ‘community’ we may have some valid points to add in a submission, either as a group, or individually.
The SUMMARY of the DRAFT report is worth a read.

Hack2489ParticipantFMD.
Bloke at the end of my street had a heart attack on Sunday. The news in the street is he split his Aorta. He was found laying on his driveway by a neighbour.
That’s very sad…but surely you aren’t blaming DS for it???
As reported, studies have shown an increased risk factor due to Daylight Savings.
But.
I’m sure those that are pro daylight saving will no doubt suggest other factors like diet and exercise were contributing factors too.
