31 points today off 12 at Glades in a decent and gusty wind – had my chances but short game was terrible and the driver got the hooks on the last few holes after being pushy all day – driver in the end cost me 5 shots while short game cost me 10 plus 4 3 putts.

    5/14 fairways
    7 GIR
    1/11 up and down
    37 putts

Been striking my chips much better lately but not today

I think setup will correct the driver because I was trying to change it to fix my push and I suspect over did it

    Hit some good irons though

2 birdies were dropping 15ft putts so that made up a little with the putter, plus left myself some very long putts on tough greens

    Chipping was very frustrating

So, if you’d gone fishing it would’ve been a mixed bag? Few pelagics, couple of reef species and the staple of a feed of flathead.

What was your daily handicap at the Glades? Which tees did you play? What was the DSR?

I’ll just stalk your GA record.

So, in the absence of anywhere fun for me to document my updates and progression, I will just use my #twinnings thread to update the house.

I have been playing with some website I found where you can plot your way around each hole with distances and alignments and all that so I now have my tee shots mapped out and sorted to know where i need to put the ball for the best chance of a par round.

disappointingly, there are only a couple of times where I will be teeing off with Ink’s head, most of the holes will be big dog.
I will be making use of Ink’s head on 1 though, as shown on the attached

What’s the website you found / are using?

I tend to just use Google maps with satellite view or Google Earth if I’m looking at a new course. Then when playing do nothing as planned.

I am thinking one that has had a run before.
The Gold Coast courses are more of a fun party, colourful type of attire compared to the more traditional elegant attire that will get the nod at my future home course.
At this point I have this planned ….. dammit, I am still trying to work out how to do photos

Postings pics is a PITA. Nice to see you won the battle.

I think we discussed this previously… Isn’t the rule blue and green shouldn’t be seen unless there’s a colour in between?

    So, white belt?

Impending charity golf day next Monday, so thought I’d better start warming up the golf muscles. Been hitting 30-50 balls with wedges then walking a few holes at the home track. Started Friday afternoon.

It’s been ugly and a mixed bag.

    But.

I walked 9 holes yesterday and shot 2 over OTS. Front 9, back markers.

I still don’t know what I did different or why the swing was so much better. I just know I felt more relaxed, have no back pain and seemed to feel easy swing with freely hinging wrists that just flowed with the body swing. Very surreal still.

Wasn’t all FIR and GIR either. Sand saves, and chips to easy one putt distance helped the par results tick along.

Greens are rough as they recover from coring and renovations. I honestly think there were a couple of putts that would have had a chance if the green wasn’t so rough and slow.

Luck was also on my side with no ugly lies and even when I hit one a bit ugly, I still had a shot and managed to recover.

If only I could bottle the feeling, sensation, swing sequence and easy effort to pull it out at will every time I play.

Mentally I was relaxed. Focus was on shot at hand and errant shots forgotten quickly. Almost like I was in a ‘it doesn’t matter, move on, focus on the next shot” mindset but at the same time was focused on execution of each shot when at the ball. I recall this feeling when I shot my PB round and even back 9… A very surreal feeling with no tension or anxiety. Just calm and focussed. I need to work out how to turn that on.

My game this weekend will knock off a played to 7.3 that I had at Palm Meadows, on 31 July 2016.
Then our game at the Flats will drop off my 6.0 from Royal Pines in September 2016.

But then I will still have a score from November 2016 in there for some time yet
    Good times

Isn’t there something in the new world handicap system rules starting 1 January that said any games older than 2 years on a GA record would be wiped? Something about having to then the resubmit 5 cards to establish handicap under the new system?

I could be dreaming, or making it up.

It could be the first issue to discuss in the rules sub forum.

I could just be making content for this forum to look busy.

Maybe the answer is simple. You need to play more golf?

More frustrating rubbish today for 30 points at Robina Woods from a shotgun start off 15, playing off 12

    Started double birdie par bogey
The the front nine was 7 bogeys followed by 2 doubles
Finished with a wipe to put the cream on the cake

My short game is improving in the sense of not hitting any mishits but my touch isn’t good enough and I didn’t make any putts of note today – just a couple of 4-6 ft 2nd putts

30 points with 2 birdies is crap

Tee wasn’t too bad although a bit of luck saved a 3h

Dropped 9 shots from poor iron and wedge shots – very very bad

8 over on the short game with only 2 up and downs despite plenty of fairly straightforward chipa

You went out there and try your best. Seriously, I would be absolutely super happy if I get 30. Wow, you are very lucky, you golf different course every week. You must know a lot of movers and shakers golfers.

Weeti is the club mascot stalwart for a social golf group based in SE Qld. They play different courses each couple of weeks. I think it’s because they’re not allowed back to a course due to shenanigans. Something to do with gumboots, goats and, ah, I’ll let you use your imagination…

My youngest daughter’s boyfriend has a job there as a lifesaver. Starts in January I think.

Perhaps his training should have started earlier, sooner, so he could have saved this fella from embarrassment.

I find I score much better if I do not add up my score as I go around. Just write down the result and any tracking your doing at the end of each hole and then move on. Add it up when finished whole 18.

Everytime I score better and then start to think score I lose shots by stupid errors.

It’s the focus on score, outcome, that stuffs me up the most. Maybe try playing thinking only about the shot at hand and not think score. If you catch yourself thinking score, or future shot, last shot error, then stop for a minute and refocus on the shot at hand.

My PB is an 86 OTS, 14 over which was 8 over after 5 holes, -2 for back 8, but double bogey on 18. I started thinking score waiting on the 18th tee!

Thank you Hack. I will try your method the next few weeks.
Tempting to add the score though….

Perhaps that’s the key. Understanding why you need to add up or know how you’re scoring…

Have you read “The Golfers Mind” or ‘Golf is not a game of perfect” by Dr Bob Rotella?

And please accept our apologies Della, we’ll pipe down and allow you to keep your thread all about you and your game
    😀

All good. Plenty of free time. Just work and golf now. Pretty boring life. I did asked Weetix for your bio, just in case I might step on your toes. So both of you are single digit hcp., How exciting and really great Bumpunrun.

Did said bio include his fetish for colour coordinated golf attire?
