Had a hit yesterday at GPJ’s old home (Beacon Hills) with Marian. Played the back nine of the hills first and then the Lakes nine.

A little rusty initially and had 43 on the front and 39 on the back. A couple of birdies but a number of double bogies. Chipping was pretty average as I left a lot short but it was just a practice round so no damage.

It’s been a few years since I was last there but the hilly walk is getting tougher for this COVID FAT CARRIER so it may be a few more years before I go back?

Gaz, I travelled up there yesterday with Marian and had a hit. Ended up having to hit off on the 10th and then played the Lakes nine. Greens were nice.

Marian apparently had a free game for us but when she went to the Pro shop they made her pay? Nothing (gear wise) in the pro shop and a lot of poorly attired “players” wandering the course. We did manage to get through two groups ahead of us as the kindly allowed us through when we caught up with them. Got around the in just around 4 hours but it’s a little tougher walk – even though I was glad I had my MGI AT buggy – for this black duck and Marian was buggered too.

Nice to re-visit but I’m happy at Southern. By the way…who are the “cohorts”. One of them doesn’t have the initials “TL”??

Good stuff! Before you know it you won’t have any 2017 games in your 20 handicap rounds!

Yeah 2023 should see some movement..🤦‍♂️

It turns out I have 9 games from 2017 in my last 20, so I’m thinking Commish is right on the money.

You blokes should get out there and play a bit more. Golf can be fun.
The oldest round in my last 20 is 3 Nov, six weeks ago.

    Some people have a life..

20 rounds every 6 weeks sounds like a life I could deal with tbh

You can look forward to it in 25 yrs when you retire. Prior to that you have a working life to lead. You did however get a taste of it whilst in the unemployed transition stage..😃

25yrs until ‘retirement’? Only if he’s 25 now … no one works full time past 50 these days, do they?

Unfortunately I have been. I’ve done 11 years since I turned 50 as full time and SHIFT WORK. I think I’ve earned some part time…..which starts tomorrow. 🙂

Three threads about how shite high handicappers are and how they could be better. Hardly a good way to make me feel welcome as a new member round these parts 🙂

What’s new these days lads? 3 years off golf….but I’m back. Searching for a local comp to bandit my way to 47 points. Any options?

    Welcome back “brother”.

9.1 no more…. great round Pete.

Nup….not golflinked Commish…..as we were playing a teams event and individual cards weren’t completed. 🙂 A little like Barneski manipulating the system. 🙂

My bad. Home track comps are always a single stab with either a 2bbb, 2bAgg or 2b multiplier in conjunction.
Hopefully, there is a repetitive repeat effort into the future. Maybe when you go on permanent hols??😉😊

Yep thanks Commish. I’m hopeful to put a few good rounds in the summer cup in January. I’m on leave and they will be my next comp games. Still got a few years before I’m permanently on holidays.

Played a 2 ball multiply (Stableford) at Gardiners Run yesterday. Playing off the white tees and the low rating had my 9.1 (G/L) convert to a 7 handicap for the day. I paired up with another lefty who was playing off 6. Par for the course is 72. The scoring was multiplying of each players stableford score….i.e 3 x3 = 9 for the hole. I kept my score on my GPS to see how I was travelling……..we hit off the back 9 first…

    Back 9 – 20 points (37 OTS) 1 x birdie – 14 putts
    Front 9 – 21 points (37 OTS) – 14 putts

    FIR – 9
    GIR – 10
Sand saves – 3 (One from a fairway bunker)
    Par or better – 15
    Putts – 28

And that…….ladies and gentlemen…..is my BEST EVER score since I took this game up over 40 years ago.

As for our combined 2 ball score – 95 odd. About 10 points in front of second. We had about 7 – nine point holes and only wiped one hole when my partner had 3 in the bunker on the 3rd hole

Well done Francie. Are you going to join the club there so you can do that every week?

Wouldn’t mind as I generally play ok around there. I must admit conditions were pretty perfect but not sure I want to travel an hour each way all the time.

I did notice that is was “Rozzer Day” on the timesheets when I booked in for the twilight comp.
Fairways are very good. Rough on most holes is cut short after first cut.
Some work on the green fringes on some holes and the greens are not as quick as they could be.
You should be good for 40pts off The White Tees Francie

    Well Micky…..you must be Nostradamus…..had 41 points (74 OTS) playing off 7. 😉

Thanks Micky. We are playing a pairs event called 2 ball multiplier. You both play stableford for the hole and multiply the 2 point scores. i.e one player has 4 for 3 and the other player has 4 for 3. 3 x 3 is 9……or similar. They reckon it’s funny when one player has 4 for 4 (or similar) and his partner wipes the hole…so nothing for the hole. No pressure. 🙂
