CommishParticipantBaby steps Special. The Stride of Pride will come soon enough. Main part is to enjoy what you are doing, no matter the score. Something I forgot about for a while and the golf just did not improve, it has of late thankfully but still lots of improvement to come, just as yourself.

CommishParticipantWarm up and off the 10th Blue Big Boy Tees

Should be happy with 36pts. It’s ok.I would be.

CommishParticipantI played the local club competition today. Score 90 ( 1 birdie, 2 pars, 12 bogeys, 3 doubles) 36 points
Two steps forward
1) I hit 10/14 fairways. Mostly with a fade shape, cause it works for me. The draws 50% success, but only one push into the trees.
2) Good fairway shots with 7 Wood and 3 hybrid ( both Cobras with baffler rails)
3) my approach shots with irons improved ( I play 6-GW) in accuracy. The misses were small ones. One step back
1) Bump and run shots were a strong point of my approach game during summer. Now they are ineffective in the soggy conditions.
2) My pitching / wedge shots today landed short or I just dug a trench in the soft fairways. There was not much run even when I used a 7 iron.
3) The stronger grip I tried today de-lofted the 4W ( no baffler rails) and I took deep-ish divots until I realized what I was doing and corrected for it.
4) I missed two putts from close in again. One I didn’t take enough time to get aligned. I was worried about standing on another player’s line. The other I hit just a tad too firmly and it did a loop around the hole and escaped.I am thinking of trying some Cleveland CBX2 wedges for the wetter months ( about 9/12 here) . They have more bounce and a wider sole. One of our playing group gave us a demonstration of how to hit low, spinny wedge shots into the green today. Very impressive performance!

2 steps forward was 3. 1 step back was 4. You are now officially worse off than when you started.
CommishParticipantSeems most will not reach the achievable…. so feel free to reset the reset button from now until the end of year. Fair to say it will be a new calendar from the 1/7/20. Maybe a current then 30/9/ to 31/12/20.. I for one will not be making mine so ambitious.

CommishParticipantIsn’t the right hand meant to be passive??
CommishParticipantHow did this thread go from talking about the largest golf green, to mouldys putting to hitting potato wedges.
It’s just what we do, because we are ssooooo good at it.

CommishParticipantBit quiet around here. Where has everybody gone. Did you all get lost or something?
Anastasia has them locked away…

CommishParticipantInfeed
Is that the opposite of an outfeed??
Maybe an instarve?
Huh!!
CommishParticipantFair comment Commish, however the difference with the Melaska video is that he explains why a stronger grip helps as well as he shows how to test whether your grip is actually doing what you think it is. I have been told to use a strong grip by my coach and i thought I was doing it as per instruction. No-one had shown me how to check whether it was working in squaring the club face at full arm extension. I am sure Special can choose whether or not he wants to use Melaska’s advice/ teaching pearls of wisdom, as a well as continuing with his personal coach.
Are you using your left or right hand to get a strong grip?

CommishParticipantFar from me being one to tar many with the same brush, but fark me there were some stupid individuals protesting in Melbourne today.
It really does go a long way in limiting any further sort of intelligence banter in their favour, for the long foreseeable futureAnd here is my public retraction.
There are dumb people in Brisbane too.The couple of protesters today in Brisbane against 5G, lockdown and vaccines show that there ridiculously stupid all over and state borders are no barrier to dumbness.
What is really scary is that some of those stupid individuals seem to have positions of power.
Hey Pom, welcome back to the fold. Glad you found the new homestead. AND yep, we are going to over politically correct ourselves into obscurity. A loud minority of opinionated, over zealous, self effacing no it alls with Uni degrees as a Master in ” Who Gives A Fuck” will always lead a silent majority by the nose. Because we allow it to be so.
CommishParticipantPositive thoughts people. Come October, when you check in at the airport, if your temperature is within the prescribed range and you have no other symptoms, them you hop on a plane and head to NSW. If not, STAY THE FUCK AT HOME.
Or, you could opt to drive, just leave 2 weeks earlier than expected and keep to yourself on the way up.
I don’t know the suburbs where the hot spots in Vic are at the moment, so I can’t really comment on what may be causing the spike. But I will hazard a guess and presume they are total dumb fucks.
The best part is… I know that those of you in Vic who desire to attend the Nats are doing the right thing anyway because that is the type of people you are. It will happen and you will be there.

CommishParticipantDriver: 325 yards7-iron: 205 yards – driver
3-wood: 295 yards
4-hybrid: 275 yards
4-iron: 255 yards
5-iron: 235 yards
6-iron: 220 yards
8-iron: 190 yards – 3W
9-iron: 175 yards – 5W
Pitching wedge: 160 yards – 4H
47 degree wedge: 145 yards – 5H
53 degree wedge: 127 yards – 7i…clearly we have a club gap issue
58 degree wedge: 110 yards – 9i…same issueFFS!
I’m glad you did those distances… saved me posting mine. I just say… Ditto
how jacked are his lofts if he needs a 47 wedge and a PW?
I was of the belief that a PW was around 47/48 degs. His PW must be at about 44 which is basically a 9i. If that be the case then it would suggest his 4i is lofted somewhere between a 2&3i.
CommishParticipantMike’s advice on grip was the missing link for me.
It may have been the missing link for you, but that may not be the case for Special. He seems to be going OK with the advice his coach is giving him at present. Perhaps he should continue on that path and see what eventuates before he starts doing the
‘You Tube Tango’. No better way to get confused than having 25 different video experts telling you 25 different things to all achieve the same result. Funnily enough, you end up 2 steps forward – 1 step back. -
