Hoping against hope that restrictions are eased before Friday. Have entered in the Beaufort GC Annual Tournament this weekend (absolute cracker of a weekend). But unfortunately still locked down to 25km.

    Fingers Crossed.

Just go the town folk at Beaufort will be very pleased to see you, and will welcome you.

from driving around lately seems there are no police patrolling the regional areas.
dont get caught for speeding, as that is only way they will track you down

    enjoy the tournament.

My handicap was 19 because the previous anchor was 14.0
An anchor of 20.2 means that will be taken into account after my next handicap calc.
My anchor should now be 16 (from 11/6/2020), but that won’t be used in my handicap for another couple of rounds.

That should’ve said an anchor of 15.2 allowing a hard cap of 20.2

Can I save 5 strokes per round? For tomorrow? I wish.

Today I had 32 points with 33 putts. That was three 1-putts. Only one 3-point but five 1-points.
I just kept shaving holes, like a good nurse but a poor golfer.

The 32 points meant 93 and your GA went out 0.9 shots to 19.9 giving you a daily hcap of 19.
    great consistency
    .
    So just play bogey golf.

Stab at Warra yesterday. No comp but handicapped.
No wipes but only four 3-pointers and nine 1-pointers. 31 points
34 putts with a few 3-putts. Greens were uneven near the holes – too many feet on the soft ground.
    Weather was good, 10°

Why would you submit a card for handicap when not in a non comp round…especially if greens are not good and it is cold and not favourable for good scoring.

better to use non comp rounds as practice to play holes a different way to develop a different game plan. ie play 1st hole with a 5 iron off tee, or take 2 extra clubs for approach every shot and hit to back of green, or hit into bunkers to practice getting out every time.

by the way the feet marks around the hole are what Putting Guru Dave Pelz referred to as lumpy donuts

Although a ‘non comp’ round, it was still handicapped.
Just to get rid of that bloody anchor and get a fair handicap.

according to your golf link you got a flag last round (non comp) of 22.6 but handicap stayed at 19.0 and your new anchor is now pushed out to 20.2
Looking back over you last 10 rounds your best Stfd score is 31 points, with 2 flags dropping off your cap in next 2 rounds your Cap is only going to get higher the more rounds you put in under 34 points.

    Your scoring has been amazingly consistent with last 10 rounds of 94, 94 98 98 93 96 95 93 99 94
Your daily handicap is 18 = 89 so you need to find a way to save 5 shots per round in order for your GA anchor to come down.

    hope you can achieve this

My question (for anyone really) . What is wrong with being steep? When I hear people say this it sounds like you have an incurable disease. Or you need to be moved to an secluded island away from proficient golfers .. hahah

Just want to know what is really bad about it ? I’m thinking I’ve been doing this for decades and kinda just deal with it

The ball flight will tell you what is happening in your swing.
If the ball is barely off ground and hitting fat lots of times probably too shallow.
If souring high ball and big deep sods for divots probably too steep.

best thing is to forget the advice you hear from internet golf instruction sites.

BUT If you are really need to know, book a lesson with teaching pro who will tell you in 1 minute fif you are too steep or too flat and then probably stuff your swing if he tells you, your swing is too steep and you for some reason want to change to flat because you dont like it steep.

My son in law were on baby sitting duty again this morning, so we went up to Heywood for 9 holes.
Sunshine, no wind, but very soggy underfoot. All shots today had zero roll.

I started off well , but it didn’t last . I eventually worked out I was holding the driver too close to the end of the grip. Once I choked down a bit, I started to hit decent tee shots. Next I need to work out why I am topping my fairway woods suddenly. I changed my head position a tad to enable me to see the line better and my putting improved. When I did miss , it wasn’t by much. The greens were wet with dew still, so speed control was a bit iffy. Iron shots into the greens were working well at full distance and chipping was getting on the green, closer to the pin.

I played bogey golf +1=46. The crows took 4 balls today. My grandson was impressed by the flock of Kangaroos.

    Two steps
    1) Better putting
    2) better chipping and approach shots

    One step back
    1) Unreliable fairway wood strikes/ topping them. Possibly weight too far back.

    Its a herd of Kangaroos

    a flock is for birds

I played in a inter- district Vets competition at the Millicent golf club, situated near Mt Burr. As the name suggests it was hilly. Although it didn’t rain , the pre- frontal wind kept building up to around 30 kph.

It was the first time I had played the course and it showed on hole#10 where we started. I hit a reasonable drive off the tee, but my second shot over the rise hit the steep down slope and ran off the fairway, resting next to a tree. I tried to bump it out , but managed only to run it into another tree 20 m further down the hill. A double bogey start again! I should have been more conservative and just hit a safe, over the crest shot.

    Forward steps
    1) Driving distance wasn’t bad even with the wind conditions
    2) I hit a ripper 7W 164 m high into a green that stopped dead.
    3) Longer approach shots with 4&5 hybrids and 4 Wood went well.

    Backward steps
    1) I mishit my 6 Hybrid 4 times
    2) I mishit 3 fairway wood shots/ should have used the Hybrid!
    3) 5 by 3 putts
    4) Missed fairways 5 times; three pushes and two pulled shots. I think I was trying to hit too hard into the wind
    5) tentative chipping with higher lofted clubs lead to poor results. I am better of using my PW more.

I hit 98 off the stick today. I could not get my putting to work, hitting 41 total . So many times I rolled the the ball up to the hole, but they didn’t drop.

5 x 3 putt greens suggests problems with distance control.
Always a bit more difficult on greens you are not familiar with.
Still its not always about score

Pennant final today at Phillip Island.
A great day for club at we won Div 1 and Div 3 finals

I played Div 3 this year, and today in the final I had dancer on that bag as caddy today, he focussed me and got me a 8&7 win.

I was getting 3 shots today on 4th, 8th and 12th but game was over before needed the shot on 12th hole.

Now pennant is over I can focus on brining handicap down again.
Its going to be a big week at the club

Tomorrow I go and play Royal Melbourne with JRG which will be enjoyable as it can get

Played at Lang Lang today. Great to get back and walk the course. The club offered a burger/steak sandwich and chips in the price. We had 36 turn up and there were a lot praising the conditions. Played off the back markers.

    Played off 11 and had 81 OTS (41 & 40) for nett 70 and 29 putts.

    Perfect weather..

Ï did see that a whole group from Southern GC played so I figured it was the Police golf day.
Thanks for the praises of course, it really is the new home of golf, and in better condition than lots of other more expensive inner city courses.
    Glad you enjoyed.
