DavidMParticipantSLGC, Stroke, First round of Club Champ’s.
Wrist still giving me problems, Handicap out 4 strokes, My last 20 rounds all up against my Cap. Played off 23.
Reviewing a grip video during the week I realized I had let me grip slip a bit, made an effort to straighten up, it worked!
Pared the first two holes and apart from two bad holes (6 on a par 3 & 8 on a par 5) couldn’t do much wrong.
Drives were mostly off-center hits, on the clubface but still mostly OK. Chips were mostly long..
Came in with a score of 66 to be placed second overall
That’s GOLF You just never know where it’s coming from.Saturday, Second round of Club Champs (or Chumps)
Played the first 9 in two over my handicap, played the next 9 in 12 over !!
for a total of 84. could not swing a club in any rhythm. Played the last four holes in the rain.
66 & 84 was enough to qualify for the quarters on Sunday.
Sunday, fairly even on the first 9 but won the last two to be 2 up at the turn.
Won the next two as well, when suddenly my opponent forgot how to count!!
Corrected his scoring on the next four holes!! It was becoming quite a joke.
Finished on the 16th 4 up
Didn’t play all that well but put some good drives in play that made it hard for my opponent (who was a short hitter).
Going to be a very even match next Saturday, We both play long and erratic and have the same handicap.
Can’t wait.3 users liked this post.

OldBogeyParticipantAnother ‘practice’ round at Warra today.
Drives were mostly good but a few went a little wayward. I did manage to get caught up among the trees on a few holes and I managed to do some holes really well.I started with 3 pars for 9 points in 3 holes then the wheels went wobbly. 3 bogeys and 3 wipes for another 6 points for an opening 15 points.
Back nine started with another wipe then things came good. 1 double bogey (my only 1 point for the day), 2 bogeys, 3 pars and 2 birdies. That’s another 22 points for a 37 point total which won the day, except there was nothing to win because comps are not allowed. The birdie on 15 (a par 3) would have normally won a ball, but not today. From Thursday, it’s all back to normal comps, bars open, etc. Country life is so much better than locked down metro Melb.
People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

OldBogeyParticipantStab at Warra today but this time it was finally a comp.
17 out, 14 back in, for a 31 point total. Why couldn’t I play like I did on Tuesday?People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

For sure Francie. But we all knew that.
Actually, I’ve been putting numerous crap rounds together, but I suppose that doesn’t count.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

Actually, I’ve been putting numerous crap rounds together, but I suppose that doesn’t count. How do you define a crap round.?
Ask yourself whats causing the crap rounds… which part of game is letting you down
Do you ever practice the part of game which is letting you down at moment, such as chipping or putting (although your putting seems to be be above ISG/ L4G standard) do you practice with an improvement goal in mind.
Even playing a comp round do you focus on your process (not outcome).

I think I concentrate too much on the process when I should just focus on the desired outcome.
Unfortunately all parts of the game let me down. A few poor drives, some duffed or misdirected fairway shots, too many approaches left short and the odd 3-putt. I’m always trying to improve my swing, a tweak here, another there. The end result is some good holes and too many poor holes.Today I had 35 points, 17 out, 18 back in. A wipe or two, at least one 3-putt (maybe 2), some pars and a birdie. Too much variety.

IF Dan ever gives early release for good behaviour from our Covid sentence, Dancer and I will come up to Warra for a game.

BarenskiModeratorFirst 18 hole round on Friday, since April 24, at the PJ Day…and it showed early.
2 easy wipes to start the day followed by 3 2 pointers, a wipe and a 1 pointer to be 7 points after 7 holes. Truly shite golf.
Another couple of 2 pointers to finish the front 9 on 11 points.
Starting the back nine with a par I thought things were looking up until I wiped the 11th. From there it was bogey, par, bogey, birdie (very nearly Ace no.3), sandy par, sandy par, bogey, to finish with 22pts. 33 in total and to my shock horror .2 wiped off the handicap…that wasn’t supposed to happen!! 😉
In the end I was happy with the finish, hopefully won’t be so long between games and I can build on that finish.

DavidMParticipantSaturday, Club champs, Semi-Finals.
Three lucky breaks for my opponent in the first 4 holes, saw him out to an early lead.
Stayed just behind till the ninth, lost that one, to turn 2 down.
Downhill from there, to lose on the 14th. He went on to win on Sunday, well played!
My chipping let me down, chuned too many, and hard to recover a shot, we were evenly matched.
My second try at match play, liked it but a different feeling to my normal golf.
Will try again next year.1 user liked this post.

OldBogeyParticipantRegular stab round at Warra today. It was bloody windy but otherwise fine and good for golf.
19 out and back for a 38 total.
One birdie, 5 pars, but also 2 doubles and a wipe. Currently leading but with only half the field in, I won’t hold that spot for long.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.
