It’s still golf … just different

Folks at Sun City West’s Pebblebrook Golf Club may think they have stepped into a time warp when the 3rd Annual Desert Hickory Golf Tournament tees off Feb. 28 to March 1. Nearly 80 hickory golfers from all over the United States and abroad – a passionate group of players who use antique wood shafted clubs – are expected to take part in one of the “newest” stops on the growing national hickory golf circuit.

Tournament founder Ken Holtz of Sun City West has been an avid hickory player and collector for decades.

“We have developed a good base of hickory players in the Phoenix area over the past few years and it only seemed natural to put together a tournament in this part of the country and get it on the National Society of Hickory Golfers’ (the sanctioning body for hickory golf) tournament schedule,” Holtz said.
