My old approach put too much pressure on the short game by scoring against always getting up and down unless it was really in a bad place

At the same time scoring an iron just offline and finding a bunker the same as one I top 10m isn’t right either

So still some work to do

Changed my scoring system around for Sunday’s review – putting more of the responsibility on the long game when it puts me in a very difficult up and down situation, including any bunker shot

Reasoning is that even the best in the world get about 50% from the bunkers so for me any up and down from the sand is basically a bonus shot

So Sunday I was 9 over
    0 driver
    -1 hybrid – pulled 35m left
-3 irons – 2 big pushes on first 2 holes, both ending up as pars but the +1 will go to the LW bunker shot on 1 and the 15 footer on 2, big pull on 12 into a bunker well short of the green
    0 for wedges – +1 for PW to 2ft on 3, -1 for fat SW on 14
-2 for iron punch shots, both clipped trees
+1 for LW bunker shot on 1 to 2ft
0 for PW chips although I didn’t get any up and down they weren’t bad
0 for LW chips as it finished inside 5ft
-3 for Texas wedges – 2/5 up and down
    -1 for putting – +2 for saves outside 5ft, -3 for misses inside 5 and a 3 putt

So -6 long game -3 short game

Played Redcliffe today and the course was lovely with the greens especially being very smooth and fast

Off 11 had a 9 over 80 for 38 points to win within our 3 groups

Would have preferred to play that way last week in Club Champs but that’s golf for you!

Drove as well as I ever have and didn’t drop a shot with driver – although could have on 15 but got lucky

Hit a few wayward irons and hybrids which I’ll need to clean up

Chipped ok and putted pretty well

    Nice day for it

Pacific next week for round 3 of the club champs but I’m out of contention for those

    Thanks XR

    I didn’t!

Drove well mostly 8/14 but was poor on the greens and also on approaches
5 GIR isn’t abysmal but they are saucers surrounded by patchwork rough and the greens were rocks that even wedges wouldn’t stay on
    88 net 77 and 30 points

SO we don’t have anyone on here from non-lock down states, still playing golf?

    Playing Virginia tomorrow

I’m surprised you remembered, I was only there for half a year in 2001 before I got my stupid full time golf career ruining job

Do you mean marriage and children?

Played at RiverLakes off the white tees off 6

Finished with 34 points which equates to an 8 over 78 – been a while since I scored in the 70’s so that felt good

    Handicap down 0.1 to 9.6
My highest flag is now 10.9 but my only flag below 9 – a 6.4 at Nudgee from April – is dropping in 2 games so that will be a challenge to replace

Next week at Virginia – Greg Norman’s old club – will be round 2 of club champs
Round 1 was a write off so I need to perform in all 3 remaining rounds to have a chance

I agree but we are in the minority
    Anastasia got re-elected here
WA was a landslide for the king of lockdowns and border closures
Dan is looking like a shoe in in Victoria
Australians overall seem very happy to be locked down and restricted

    I hear ya

My raise is going triple as much over on the back as the front

    4 over 40
    12 over 48
    Double
    Wipe double
    Bogey
    3 putt bogie
    Bogie
    Par
    3 putt triple
    Double
    Par
    That’s horrible golf right there

After the downpour all week we weren’t sure how playable Keperra would be – but the course handled it well and Sunday was perfect weather

    My game wasn’t so good
Decent 4 over 18 point front
But poor 12 over 12 point back nine

So 30 points – not terrible but felt pretty rubbish

Had a similar sort of round yeaterday….19 and 11. A little frustrating isn’t it.

    Sure is

It hurt to make the turn 4 over and then go double on 10 and lose the tee shot on 11 – not a bad shot it just bounced into the tree line and then gone in very clear open ground; golf is aa bitch sometimes – to be effectively 4 over after 2 holes for the back

    Bloody golf
