    Lol

    That’s an excellent question

I have hit so many crap hybrid and iron shots trying to play safe that I couldn’t even guess at the number

I suspect part of it is trying to hard to hit it straight that we dont make a good swing

At Nats the fella called Sandy
Told a limericks he thought was quite dandy
    No surprise from that dude
    It was awful rude
Perhaps because he was feeling so randy?

I am into my second week with working from home and before we finished in the office, a couple of use from my team have made a pact* that we are not going to shave and obviously not get a haircut until we’re back in the office and then that haircut will be a mullet.

So far so good, Mrs Bumpette and I are currently in negotiations about me not shaving for this indefinite time frame because she knows she won’t like it, but it’s definitely starting to grow on me.

*I am 1000% certain that it will be only me with a beard and mullet when we get back

    Look forward to the pics

Social groups and things like personal training limited to 2 – suspect that may be the final nail in the golf column

Unless they go to groups of 2 I suppose but would that make sense for clubs?

Played Sandy Gallop today with 6 others. Got a great deal at $5 each. Course isn’t in great condition but is a fun layout where you don’t need driver much if at all – you have to plot your way around. But there are some short par 4s you can go for.

Played off 8, par 70 and had 83 off the stick and 32 points – 15 and 17.

    7 pars 10 bogies 1 triple

9/14 fairways – dropped 1 shot off the tee with a hooked 6i into a hazard on 6. Driver was slicey most of the day but didn’t cost me.

6 GIR – they are small greens so that wasn’t too bad, but missed some I should have. Dropped 2 shots after the hooked 6i above on 6 by punching OOB. Dropped another from a fat punch shot after going for the green on 12.

4/13 up and down – the small greens and gnarly grass around them made chipping interesting. Nothing bad but wasn’t leaving them close. Dropped 8 shots:
    1/2 8i chips for 1 dropped
0/3 PW chips for 3 dropped
2/5 LW chips for 3 dropped
0/1 LW lob but didn’t count as a dropped shot
0/1 SW bunker shots for 1 dropped
    1/1 Texas

33 putts – putted ok and only 1 3 putt, dropped a couple outside of 10ft for 2 of the LW up and downs

Full swing was a bit off much of today especially with driver so I need to sort that out

For individual club comps it doesn’t matter how they compare to other clubs, but I am equally suspicious of the 1 or 2 shot differences between tees at an individual club

I have no actual data, just a sense that forward tees are a bit easier relative to back tees compared to the 1 or 2 shots you get on your playing cap

That adds nothing to the question of whether they are robust enough

We played Gailes yesterday and a member at Jindalee had a lower cap there than at his home course – but those who have played both tell me that Jindalee is an easier not harder course

So I remain doubtful about the quality of the ratings

As the shutdowns expand and borders close I think that forums like this will be great as a way to keep in touch and feel a bit less isolated. With Victoria and NSW announcing shutdowns, and WA I believe, I think Qld will be shortly behind. It is going to be tough particularly as there is no forecast end date. I will miss the golf when it is not an option.

But all of that is inconsequential compared to everyone’s health – I hope that everyone here and all of our friends and family come through this crisis healthy and whole. And financial – that is going to be a long term challenge for us all.

I hope that our governments are not going too hard too early but although politicians give us all the shits at times I believe that they are doing their best to manage this situation as best as possible. And I hope we will all be patient and recognise that they are in an impossible situation where no matter what they do bad things will happen. And I hope that everyone here will act sensibly and rationally.

    God bless us all
