Well done Weeti! Reckon your next 6 rounds can go lower 8. Are all lad in your group?

Thanks Della – I’m replacing a flag this Sunday and then have a little space
8 would be amazing – not sure I’m playing that consistently but hope it comes together

We have ladies in our group – Kylie plays both the Brisbane Fairways and most of the between games and she and Sharon are coming to some of the Sunshine Coast Nats replacement next month

We have 5 ladies members at Brisbane Fairways

Played Pacific with 11 other intrepid Queenslanders today in fine conditions. Course was a bit rough – preferred lie which I used quite a bit although most lies weren’t terrible just a bit scratchy. Greens were sandy and still recovering from coring – but it’s that time of year and I think they took advantage of when they were members only for covid to get it done so no complaints.

Was a strange day because I didn’t play terribly well but also not terribly badly either and with some good putting could have had a very good score. But positively I had nothing worse than a bogey all day (no birdies though), and finished with the same ball I started with.

    6 pars 12 bogies off 11 for a
    43 16 back
    41 19 front
    84 35 result

9/14 fairways – better than it felt but only 1 dropped shot from a topped 3h on 10 our first hole. Couple of other less than stellar tee shots but overall they were pretty decent.

7 GIR + 3 texas – again better than it felt and many very long putts were left for me to mess up. Dropped 1 shot from a pushed 6 iron on 1 after a cracking 260m 3h off the tee (big sloped help on that shot). Wasn’t hitting my distances very well and got away with a couple of thin wedge shots into greens. Overall not terrible but so much margin for improvement still.

2/11 up and downs – not great but:

      {content}

0/4 bunker shots but the shots were solid, apart from 1 that came out much softer than I expected but it did come out
0/1 LW pitch over a bunker that I struck very well to about 8ft so happy with that
0/1 PW chip but after a big pushed 6i left me a long way from the flag and it was a good aggressive chip, just a touch too aggressive
2/4 Texas – which along with 36 putts shows much of the problem today was the flat stick

      {content}

36 putts + 4 texas – not good and didn’t drop a long putt at all, although saved a few pars after weak first long putts

Will flag and may squeeze me under 10 – was in Pacific’s comp so won’t know until a lot later

Was it that mini driver that you flushed on 10 at Royal Pines from 110 out?

    It was indeed

    Flew like a bird

I think you are exaggerating a little how far out I was – was more like 160
I just channelled Goldy in my club selection, that’s all

Mini Driver ? What loft are you using in mini- Driver and Driver? I was thinking maybe increased loft will help control the side spin issue.

    12 degrees SLDR Mini Driver

    It’s a bit of a beast

At some point I’m going to have to test it off the tee more – could be that it’s almost as long as my driver and as you say the extra loft may make it a more reliable fairway finder

what does your Arcoss stats tell you between driver and hybrid?

My Arcoss has been on mute for quite a while now
The GPS wasn’t registering properly and it was useless
And one of the sensors has died

Dunno whether I will try and resurrect them at some point or not

My GPS readings though indicate that 3 hybrid is a reliable 200 to 210 from the fairway and a bit more of the tee

Driver lately has been about 230 to 240m generally

Is there a driver backup plan? you might not need a driver on every PAR 4 and 5.

Plenty of hybrids off the tee and irons at times as well

I don’t play the mini driver so much off the tee as if the 3h 210m or so isn’t the right layup I may as well.hit driver

Only 10 strokes to go Weeti. You have plenty of time.

    It’s not quite that far

Had an 8 over 3 games back and a 9 over yesterday so par is 8 shots away

I hope I get there sometime – feels like it has taken a very long time indeed

Down to 10.3 GL – played to 10.0

Could have easily been better today – hope I can get the front nine form going consistently

0.9 to go to my next goal

    Perfect timing for Sunny Coast??

I have made it harder for myself by dropping a shot already – but I’ll happily drop more if I can keep hitting the ball well

What is a Texas wedge? A chipper?

    Putter from off the green

Texas courses are legendary for being hard and flat and windy so the story goes that chipping is hard so they use putter a lot

Better play today off 9 at Colonial, although stumbled my way home when it could have been an excellent round
Started off 18 in shotgun and was 2 over after 11 with 1 birdie and 3 bogies
But then went double double and got the hooks with driver so was 7 over the last 7 with the 2 doubles and 3 bogies
But 36 points isn’t something to complain about and 81 is solid golf so happy Weetie
Was a 4BBB and we had 45 points for 3rd of count back for 2nd. Winners had 49 with one of the pair having 45 all by himself!

    38 front 43 back for 21 and 15 points – 9 over 81 and 36 points
    1 birdie
    9 pars
    6 bogies
    2 doubles

9/14 fairways – driver started great bit got hooky at the end – not sure if I was closing the face ar address – something to work on at the range. 1 dropped shot from a hook straight into trees.

8 GIR – best number for a while and also had 7 other holes where I wasn’t far off leaving straight forward PW chips or Texas wedges. Dropped 2 shots from a wet 6i pushed off the tee on the par 3 12th. Only real shocking iron shot all day.

5/12 up and downs – chipped quite well including a chip in birdie on 1 and 2 others that were close.
3/8 PW chips – 4 dropped shots as 1 was for GIR on a par 5, also the chip in saved a shot
    1/2 Texas – 1 dropped
1/1 LW sand – dropped a 20ft par putt so the save belongs to the putter, but it was a very good sand shot just couldn’t aim at the flag

31 putts – 2 3 putts – greens were pretty poor today but they didn’t cause the 3 putts – both were from weak first putts downhill

Overall very happy – hopefully I can sort the driver out
But struck the ball well mostly, and chipped pretty well for me

It is always a bit of catchup as you improve your swing and then have to figure our how much to adjust on course after watching balls flying past the flag

Better than the alternative feeling though

He came down a bit from his performance

Still a way to go for a guy with the short game of a scratch marker

Bit off today at Mt Warren Park, which was in pretty good condition and played tough in quite strong wind

My 14 19 33 off 11 was equal 2nd best score of our 12, but Sandy smashed the field with a 38

    7 pars 9 bogies 1 double 1 triple
Felt worse than that as I didn’t drop a putt all day and seemed to manage bad bounces whenever I gave the course a chance to bite me

7/14 fairways – 1 dropped shot off the tee on 1 when my drive stayed in a tree it bounced up into which led to my wipe on the opening hole. Overall drove pretty well

5 GIR – 4 shots dropped from iron shots that left me in places that were difficult to get up and down and in 1 case required a dropped. Bit disappointing because of a couple of pushed 5 irons that cost me including a drop – they weren’t that far off line but they just bounced into bad spots. The wind certainly added to the challenge of finding the green.

5/13 up and down – dropped 5 shots
1/6 PW chips but only 2 dropped shots as the others were either not realistic up and downs (1) or were inside 6ft so the penalty is on the putter (2)
    1/3 LW chips – 2 shots dropped
    3/4 Texas – 1 dropped

33 putts – dropped 4 from 2×3 putts and 2 missed up and downs inside 6ft I should have made

Not a terrible score considering I didn’t feel I played well, the wind made things very tough and I got some tough bounces so no complaints. Only major disappointment was mishit LW pitch and then PW chip and 3 putt on 1 leading to a wipe when it should have been at least a double and a point.

    who got the 💩

Benny Lefty on countback from Dinner Box

    24 points each! 14 10 went down to 10 14!

    Very special.
