Had my left knee strapped as I hurt it at squash – was pretty sore by the end but held up ok

    Referencing this

I have strained something or some things in my knee – mostly just aches but sometimes it’s sharper

Will take a while to heal I suspect but I’ve bought a couple of braces and will monitor it

need to take care of that

Yeah will be being careful with it for a while

These things often get to the feels fine stage and then you overdo it thinking it’s healed and it goes bang again

Knee went fine – no excuse for the poor shots

Played Kooralbyn off the blue tees today – off 13 for the day because the slope and scratch ratings are so high
    Started wipe finished wipe

    6 pars 8 bogies 2 doubles 1 triple 1 wipe

6/14 fairways – 3 dropped shots including 2 lost off the tee hooks (1 reload 1 hazard), a couple others that tested the approach, but overall drove reasonably well

4 GIR – this was the disappointing part of the day – dropped 10 shots with poor approaches mostly fat – work to do

3/8 up and downs – not too bad overall – didn’t get any good bounces but plenty of poor ones.

33 putts – no 3 putts but also didn’t drop anything good either

Some good signs but those fat approach shots are not good

Played Caboolture today off 10, starting on 10
Had my left knee strapped as I hurt it at squash – was pretty sore by the end but held up ok

Played the back 9 pretty well for 3 over 38, but faltered on the front for 9 over 45 – so 12 over 83 for 34 points

    1 birdie 5 pars 11 bogies 1 double

5/13 fairways + 4 through or close – no shots dropped off the tee but some luck in that. Happy to achieve that though.

6 GIR – dropped a shot from a weak toed 5 iron on 14. Overall struck the ball pretty well – definitely on the track I want it to be on.

    4/13 up and downs
0/2 LW bunker shots – cost 3 shots as the second only just came out and stuck in the grass above the lip requiring just a chunk out
0/2 LW chip – chunk out of the deep grass was as good as could be expected – no dropped, so 1 dropped
0/1 SW bunker shot – cost 1 shot
0/1 LW lob – no drops though as it was short sided bunker carry and I was very happy with the shot
1/5 PW chip – 4 dropped shots, no misfits but distance control wasn’t good enough

    35 putts – 3 3 putts – 1 from 60ft is understandable, shame about the other 2 from more like 25

Kooralbyn next weekend – can’t wait – hope the knee is improved

    Unfortunately I’m a non starter.

Too much of the home bottled to consume instead?

And I didn’t get a chance to watch Holey Moley last night, but it is the type of entertainment that appeals to me because I am a low-brow peasant.

A bit beneath our resident knowledge worker.

Great for another low brow peasant like me

Well when I say great I mean I got a few laughs out of it – as I usually do when watching one of those types of “smash the contestant” shows

The commentary got a few laughs too – will be interesting to see what new jokes they can keep coming up with about everyone’s favourite-named planet

Not gunna be compulsory viewing though – but if nothing more exciting is on I’ll give it some more eye time

First round of BF Match Play championship today at Redcliffe, which was is great condition

Gave my opponent 4 shots and we see sawed for the front nine with me getting up a hole then back to all square over and over

Midway through the back I surged to 3 up but then 2 short missed putts in a row and a very bad chip got us even after 15

He had a shot on 16 and went 1 up but I birdied 17 to bring it back AS

We had to play 18 twice to separate us but my second 2 putt par held off his 3 putt bogey the second time we played it so I won after 19

Good contest but round 2 will be a month away as my opponent isn’t playing the next BF game

Good grind out win Weets. If the next round is a designated MP round and your opponent can’t make it, isn’t that a win be default. Designated match dates should mean just that.

Thanks Commish – although it was frustrating to give up a solid lead it was very positive to turn it around with a birdie par par finish to win it

We are a bit more flexible as a social club and allow a window within which the games must be played

If he doesn’t make McLeod it may be a forfeit, although because everyone completed round 1 yesterday we are in front of plan

    Go Weets

If I keep going like this and you keep going like you are you’ll overtake me soon

or we could meet at the same intersection.

Somewhat better but still pretty average at Carbrook today off 9

    9 over 14 points front
    6 over 17 points back
15 over 31 points (had a triple on a no shot hole)

    1 birdie 6 Lars 7 bogies 3 doubles 1 triple (picked up a 1 footer)

    7/14 fairways – 4 shots dropped, w from a topped wet 3h on 1 and 2 from a hooked wet driver on 3 (was a great start)

7 GIR – dropped 3 shots from a thin LW on 1 (that was the triple wipe), and a 6i into a tree followed by a 6i punch into a tree on 5

    1/10 up and down – 8 dropped
    1/2 LW chips 1 dropped
    0/4 PW chips 3 dropped (1 was 3rd into a par 5 so missed a birdie)
    0/4 Texas 4 dropped – that’s very disappointing

    35 putts – 1 dropped from a 3 putt

Not great form to take into matchplay next weekend at Redcliffe
