A ‘welcome back’ from the club GM today said there was an exemption where groups maintained a 50 meter distance.
I don’t have a spares 50 meters lying around the workshop but if I did, I could attach them to a belt around my middle. Then if everyone else did the same, we’d always have 50 meters between us.

Or perhaps we’ll just use a bit of uncommon sense. Certainly none of that in the government.

Those Vic regional restrictions have now been amended to say there are no limits on the number of players on golf courses provided they can keep their distancing and no groups larger than 10.

I did hit a few Driver shots into the net today. Ugly!

I suppose that’s somewhat better than shooting a few ugly drivers.

On earlier reply, we *could* set up a few chairs. Perhaps we could claim it was non-alcoholic beer or wine and keep the relevant containers just over the fence. The coppers would need a search warrant to search over the fence.

    Yeah…nah.

Golf courses are open in Regional…and operating normally (or Covid normal) – no staying on premises, masks required, no comp. But groups of 4 are on.

Can I ask why there is no comp??

Of course you can ask but don’t expect a reasonable answer.

Question….. If regional Victoria is mostly free of Covid and I presume would like to stay that way, but the Greater Metro area of Melbourne is shall we say the more infectious and major contributor to the spreading of the virus, why would your Premier say to those in Greater Melbourne, “Off you go to Regional Victoria and beyond because they need your $$$’s”? Mind you the only beyond is NSW cause all the other borders are closed to Vic from what I can gather. I would have thought there are far more businesses in the Greater Metro area that have or will fold by Xmas than in Regional Vic.

Only say this because some ignorant pricks decided it was alright for them to head off to Regional NSW rather than get caught stuck in Greater Metro Sydney and look what resulted from those little escapades.

No, the metro gnomes are still not allowed of their pen and are still on a 5km leash.
Regional Vics are now allowed to go anywhere in Vic except metro M. They just can’t do anything when they get there. Shops, restaurants, cafes can all open with a max of 10 indoors and 20 outside. No home visits. Outdoor recreation max of 20 pers per venue. A golf course cannot operate like that even if you separated the course from the clubhouse.

Dan and his team of advisors have again proved that they are a pack of dickheads.

So he has opened regional Vic up to regional Vics?

Yeah. We’ve been a closed shop for weeks except for supermarkets, medical and essential workers (permit needed).

So, now we can go anywhere in regional Vic but if we stop somewhere where there’s more than a handful of others, we could be hit with a $5000+ fine.

Golf courses were not listed in the govt published specs, unless it was added after I read them. GA website says golf is allowed, with masks and no comps.
But courses are opening, so lets not rock the boat.
Still no home vists except for sex buddy (partner) or single bubble buddy. Yet I can play golf with a few buddies, have a drink with them in the bar (max 10) or outside (max 20) or as a gathering in a public place (max 10). But not at anyone’s home. A max of 5 would do. Two of the guys live at the end of a court. We set up a few chairs on the road and have a public gathering.

I just heard a bit of Dan’s waffling during a news bulletin.
Something about waiting on numbers early this week to decide whether to open up regional Vic this week or next.
Is he hoping for something greater than zero as an excuse to keep us locked down?

We sound like a bunch of old blokes carrying on in the bar about the good old days. I wish we could be them right now.

It’s expected to piss down this arvo, still warm and sunny atm but the temp has dropped a couple of degrees to 24°.
The rain will drench everything all weekend so we won’t feel so bad about not playing.

Another Vets match has been cancelled ( third in a month). It is great that the Shepparton cluster is contained. Seeing that it is 600 km from here, it seems silly that we have been in lock down as a result of that out break. I guess it is easier to lock down a whole State, to remove the incentive for folks to escape to the country. It is just as boring here too, why bother!

If Dan is consistent with his logic, next time a grass fire breaks out in a suburb he should lock off the whole state in case the fire spreads..

Yeah. If you’re in the path of a raging fire, you can only leave home if death is imminent. But you can only go a maximum of 5km because you might take the highly transmissible fire with you.
    Good logic.

We’ve had to move a few Vets events too. From state events (from Sept to Nov), to district events (championships from next week for 3 weeks).
Our club’s MM is another victim. I can see that, when golf does resume, it’ll be a medal every week.

I said that last year – that everyone, sooner or later, will get infected. The vaccine does not provide immunity but it does pre-arm the immune system to attack the infection immediately instead of waiting until the body has been overrun. The outcome is that infected people do not get as sick.

The government objective is to prevent, as far as possible, for the health system to not be in crisis and to be able to cope with the worst cases. Hence governments world wide are pushing for everyone to get vaccinated.

Spring tomorrow. When watching the weather on tv tonight (alright I was doing the dishes), I didn’t take any notice of what’s happening elsewhere. But here in Vic, it will be a lovely mid 20s almost everywhere. Great for golf.

But that man in black says we aren’t allowed out to play, the bastard!
