    to play more?

The use of the word “more” is a touch superfluous there.
    My goal is to play.

I’ve already organised that I will play with Placegetter, date and venue TBA, but we’ve said we will and that we’ll do a range session before that too.

    I’m in

I played the local club competition today. Score 90 ( 1 birdie, 2 pars, 12 bogeys, 3 doubles) 36 points

    Two steps forward
    1) I hit 10/14 fairways. Mostly with a fade shape, cause it works for me. The draws 50% success, but only one push into the trees.
    2) Good fairway shots with 7 Wood and 3 hybrid ( both Cobras with baffler rails)
    3) my approach shots with irons improved ( I play 6-GW) in accuracy. The misses were small ones.

    One step back
    1) Bump and run shots were a strong point of my approach game during summer. Now they are ineffective in the soggy conditions.
    2) My pitching / wedge shots today landed short or I just dug a trench in the soft fairways. There was not much run even when I used a 7 iron.
    3) The stronger grip I tried today de-lofted the 4W ( no baffler rails) and I took deep-ish divots until I realized what I was doing and corrected for it.
    4) I missed two putts from close in again. One I didn’t take enough time to get aligned. I was worried about standing on another player’s line. The other I hit just a tad too firmly and it did a loop around the hole and escaped.

I am thinking of trying some Cleveland CBX2 wedges for the wetter months ( about 9/12 here) . They have more bounce and a wider sole. One of our playing group gave us a demonstration of how to hit low, spinny wedge shots into the green today. Very impressive performance!

2 steps forward was 3. 1 step back was 4. You are now officially worse off than when you started.

Darn! You are right. I am going backwards ( slowly)

    1 step forward. Acceptance

I don’t have a long list of excuses.
I just didn’t play enough to reach my goals.

The good news is that I should be able to meet my whole year goals by the end of the year

    to play more?

Positive thoughts people. Come October, when you check in at the airport, if your temperature is within the prescribed range and you have no other symptoms, them you hop on a plane and head to NSW. If not, STAY THE FUCK AT HOME.

Or, you could opt to drive, just leave 2 weeks earlier than expected and keep to yourself on the way up.

I don’t know the suburbs where the hot spots in Vic are at the moment, so I can’t really comment on what may be causing the spike. But I will hazard a guess and presume they are total dumb fucks.

The best part is… I know that those of you in Vic who desire to attend the Nats are doing the right thing anyway because that is the type of people you are. It will happen and you will be there.

Let’s just call those suburbs ‘migrant’ suburbs. You should’ve seen the arrogant, young dumb fuck being interviewed on tv. There was no way he was going to keep his distance from others, wear a mask or even stay away from granny. If he catches the virus, he’ll survive because he’s young and tough. If he passes it to granny and she dies, bad luck.

Why do you have to call it migrant surburbs?

    Any of these work?

‘Hood, medina, ghetto, burbs, outlying district
    residential area
    dormitory area/town
    commuter belt
    conurbation
    suburbia
    fringes
    outskirts
    purlieus
    garden suburb
    bedroom area
    boomburb
    faubourg
    banlieue
    barrio

How did this thread go from talking about the largest golf green, to mouldys putting to hitting potato wedges.

    Alcohol most likely!

    Two steps forward;
    Today in a 9 hole social “comp” I scored a 41.
    Driver shots showed improvement.
    Short game was good-ish
Fade shots had longer distance and less side spin

    One step back:
Tee shots hit the fairway most times but still lacking distance
Chips were not close to the pin ( >3 m) , on the green, but not near the pin.

Is distance impacting on your scoring? How much of a gap from your current distance vs your expectation?

So I returned to the other forum after a long absence and thought it was strange there was nothing going on until I came across this.

Have started golf back up and want to document it here to try and motivate myself to stick to it and improve. The goal for me has always been to break 90, I have never done it despite shooting 90 on the dot several times but going back 6-7 years ago now. Since then have probably played max 5 times a year and worked on nothing so have always had a huge slice.

I’ve had 2 lessons now and essentially re building my swing to fix 2 issues I have, opening the club face and casting hitting from right to left. Lessons have gone well so will be practicing hard in the next couple weeks before my 3rd one. Will also be signing up to a club for the first time ever.

    Lets see how this goes.

    Hi Special

Are Victorians allowed in NSW. The way things are going we might be locked out? 😉

Only banned for non essential so you need golf so it’s essential.

Any chance for a November reschedule maybe? Still keen.

. I doubt is as we’ve got our Nationals event late October. Not sure how the funds will be

It may be worth looking at reset for 2021?

    Nationals 2021?

Weve had this discussions a few times over the year- It wont work as nationals even as much support each year comes out of a local member base, adn many that wont/cant travel. Or they only come a single day.

If we can get it on a first half of year ie May 2021 we may have a small contingent that wants to go.
