By the time you realise this part of my signature doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm.

Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.

Meditation makes doing nothing quite respectable.

Not played, yet, but just wanted to find this thread in anticipation. Have a group booked in for the back marker at the home track on Friday. Hoping the rain doesn’t make it too wet under foot, or stays around until then, because like a witch, I don’t cope well with getting wet (on a golf course).

Undecided if I should clean the clubs and sort out the golf bag just yet. Might wait until after another couple of practice sessions.

Played McLeod yesterday. Overall the course condition was very good. We got a bit wet but dried off by the end.

    I played terribly. 23 points off 12. 25 over.
    7 dropped from bad putts
7 dropped from not getting up and down
3 dropped from bad iron and hybrid shots
    7 dropped from driver – 5 from 2 drives!
1 dropped from 4i tee shot on a par 4

    Nothing good all day
1 par on 10 our first hole
    11 bogies
    4 doubles
    2 triples

Can’t like the post. Just feels wrong.

    25 over… Sheesh.

Maybe you need to do more manual outdoor work. Results seemed better when you were a DYI labourer if memory serves.

Getting on trackman for every ‘range’ session would be great value… Knowing actual path to face etc while grooving swing changes would be awesome. At $20-25k per unit, the $30pw is awesome value!

That putting area setup is brilliant too.

Will be interesting to see if it gets too busy at times and what impacts that has on use of various areas etc.

What’s your “superstition” about taking a practice swing as part of your PSR?

Are you feeling more ‘productive’ with your practise time having the strike plan and drills testing?

Sure, but let’s be blunt. I have only done one full session of each in the last three weeks, so I think it is a bit early to expect that I will be seeing a lot of change. I do like having a plan for my practice sessions – I find hitting balls on the range boring and I struggle to keep at other forms of practice for any dedicated time. So having tasks to accomplish is certainly more productive.

I’m interested to see, hear, your progress over time. Keep us updated.

Played Bribie with Brisbane Fairways today in what can only be described as brutal humidity. The course was in excellent condition given the heavy rains and the greens being scarified recently. Played off 11.

Had 4 over front for 18 points and 8 over back for 17 points – 35 points all up which was good enough for second of a group of 20

    1 birdie 8 pars 6 bogies 2 doubles 1 triple
    2 wipes

7/14 fairways – drove it pretty well but Bribie isn’t generous so some slightly off line drives meant having to punch under and around trees. Only 1 dropped shot from a draw on 10 where most of the day I was hitting fades. Had 5 holes where I was punching out.

4 GIR – not where it needs to be. Hit a 4i on 2 into the trees and lost so cost me 2 shots. But should have done better.

5/13 up and down – some good putts dropped helped here. Dropped 8 shots:
    2/3 8i chips
    1/3 PW chips
    0/3 SW bunker shots
    1/3 Texas wedges

32 putts – 2 3 putts were disappointing, but dropped a few longer putts as well so not too bad.

Always enjoy the challenge of Bribie. The greens on the back were pretty rough but that’s a small issue.

McLeod next week for an in between game

Bit difficult to get GIR stats better with 5x punch out second shots due to Driver?

Is it time for a short game lesson?

So I had stableford yesterday at Rosebud and another somewhat scrappy day. Dwayne was behaving very well but had some inconsistent strike patterns on the irons which was leading to some mishits that got me into trouble a few times. Add in a couple of three putts and one par for the day (which was actually an awesome hole), and I was lucky to get away with 30 points.

Completed a full round of practice before golf so won’t be off to the range today, but will use the time to review some more of the strike plan videos to better understand that program. And I am booked in for a lesson next Saturday with coach to review full swing and talk about what I should be doing to improve things going forward.

I can’t help but wonder if the inconsistent iron strikes were in some way, some how, linked with the drill work you mentioned earlier.

My coaches have all referenced postive skill development and drills like the process of hitting high, low, draw, fade type shots with each iron. Which BTW I struggle with, but do find beneficial, in building feeling of face control and even understanding of swing mechanics.
