Hi, well let me introduce Myself..
David, Live far south of Adelaide, walk down the street to play at SLGC.
Currently playing off 18.9, Not working for now so hope to improve that a bit.
Love the internet for the information and tips
Hate the internet for the Trolls and personal attacks on others

For the reason above, You won’t hear from me very often but I read a lot.
Let’s all play fair and maybe I will contribute as my skill improves…
    David

Hey David, welcome aboard the good ship Goldy pop golf a lot…

Can’t say there’s too many trolls around here, but there are some short ugly looking fellas by all accounts (I’m still learning from the inside jokes and innuendo) …

A lot of the regulars know each other IRL so there’s a bit of sledging and inside jokes. Take it as in good humour rather than as might appear nasty bitchiness.

Tell us more about your golfing exploits etc. Maybe start a journal / journey thread? Or, write up your recent rounds when you play in the “How’d you play this week” thread. And, what’s in your golf gear set up at the moment? Check out the proshop thread on that topic …

The more content to read the better to keep everyone amused at work. I’m convinced none of them work!

They all “work” but more time here at times!

@ “work” is different to doing “work”

Nothing to say on chipping – too depressing

By saying that, aren’t you actual saying something?

    Yes you’re right

We’ve even heard some manufacturers have taken to retool their demo clubs to a stronger loft than their standard just so they can better compete …

    From here: https://sports.yahoo.com/golf-equipment-truths-iron-faces-113000225.html

    WTF?

    Seriously?

Anyone in the know? Is this for real?

I would suggest if they have put it in print, it is more likely than not, FACT.

Are you suggesting a lack of journalism integrity? Or, just the mere demise in journalism?

Thought I’d have a bit of a review of the Sunday round. Was a situation where I started pushing the long clubs and then switched to a hook and that cost me as I wasn’t playing safe for hooks.

My shorter full swings were pretty good most of the day though which is good.

    So the tee shirs went:
    – Started on 16 with a 4h big push into the trees that combined with a weak AW chip meant bogey (got a bit lucky but the punch from the trees was very good)
    – 18 push into the trees but ok
    – 1 5i draw good
    – 2 Mini Driver was very good
    – 4 4h straight
    – 6 push into the trees
    – 7 straight drive
    – 8 top into the water then pushed the retee but fine
    – 10 driver went where I aimed it into the end of the bunker (avoiding water but was hoping for a little bit of draw)
    – 11 push into the trees
    – 12 hook wet
    – 13 long par 3 was a hooked 6i to continue the hook run
    – 14 hook bunker
    – 15 hook wet
    Many many shots lost there

Other full swings were a happier story:
    – 17 PW GIR
    – 18 5i just short which is what I expected
    – 1 9i GIR but short
    – 2 6i hook
    – 3 9i thin push was GIR but a loooong way away
    – 4 LW a little short but good
    – 5 PW draw GIR
    – 6 AW a little short but good
    – 7 8i hooked but fine, SW pulled into the bunker
    – 8 LW good
    – 9 LW to 15ft
    – 10 9i from the bunker was a bit thin but just over – good shot
    – 11 SW to 15ft
    – 12 SW just long from 118 uphill!
    – 13 6i hook ended up fine
    – 14 SW from fairway bunker was fat, SW to green was good to 15ft

Have to sort out the longer clubs but wedges and short irons were right where I want them

Hmmm, ok, crazy idea from a hacker…

But, could “maybe” your push and hook issue be related? In that …

    – push is an in to out path that has clubface square to PATH… but as you apply thought, effort to getting hands square to target line, it then hooks?

    So.

Instead of thinking hands are issue, think alignment of ball in stance. If you move ball a tad forward, like 1-2cm in your stance and swing the same, that bit further forward would give your swing time to square to the target line and then you’d have clubhead square to path and sqaure to target line?

The hook impact then goes away because you’re not trying to force the hands, just let it happen off the swing sequence.

    ???

The good great news is my back is not sore this morning after playing 18 holes at Surfers Paradise GC yesterday. It was a shambrose event and trying to belt shots off the tee is where I tend to do damage.

As typical with these events, the obligatory 3 tee shots per player were required and I was done and dusted by the 3rd hole. Driver was playing very well yesterday.

Irons were generally ok. Couple of fat shots but only when trying WAY too hard. When I played smart and remembered to SWING using technique rather than try and HIT the ball, contact, direction and distance were good.

I hit GIR on every Par 3, and we used my shot on two of them. One of which was 2m from the pin, the other 4m.

One 65m approach shot, second shot, off one off my drives I stuck to 1m and put the putt away.

Another hole, par 4, playing 270m and I was pin high with my drive. The 2 club northerly was a little help. It had finished in the sand though, but we played it and I dropped a 65* open face shot to 1m and putted it out.

I feel my game was ok and the lead up practice helped for a change. More importantly my focus and PSR to click into technique vs outcome was much better.

Finally a decent round… last OOM at Gardiners.
Started on 17 with two wipes.
Got going on the 1st and finished the front with 21pts.. followed with 16pts, for an overall 37pts.

A few four pointers helped… so did being in a fun group.

    What’s your handicap now Ink?
