Hack2489ParticipantAgreed.
Even getting to the direct / private ‘messages’ “envelope” icon thingy is a PITA….
Only way I’ve found is to click on my own username in a thread post which then takes you to your “public” profile… Why can’t we get to it from our “dashboard” or ‘user control’ or ‘profile’ link?
C’mon @madam stop the hill billy hijinx up there are the Woodford hippy fest and do some bloody “admin” …
Oh wait, maybe your ARE doing an ‘admin’ … Did you take your edge trimmer and exit mould spray?

Hack2489ParticipantSounds like a good plan
And, like all good plans, highly likely to go off track.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to see you (or anyone posting in here) but, don’t you have an analysis of your round at Ocean Shores to write up? I’m keen to read how the back nine treated you.

Hack2489ParticipantHaving time with the caddie, her driving the cart on our outings, is great dad n daughter time, so yeah, there’s that aspect for me.
I also use it for health benefits too. Exercise, walking around, moving the body in different ways. Fits well with my surfing since the ocean is better with offshore winds, and it’s nearly always onshore by mid morning to lunchtime. I can golf in the afternoon and into the evening which also stops me just sitting home, or gardening, which always involves drinking a few beers.
But, the big thing for me is having goals to achieve. I’m happiest when working toward something. Hence, my desire to improve my swing, and game. I get frustrated but also enjoyment. Two edges of the same razor.
The exercise and improvement aspects keep my mental health in check too. With my work being all in my head aka “knowledge worker”, doing physical things is really important for balance.

Hack2489ParticipantFuck it.
I’m going to give myself a new year energy boost.
First, I’ve decided to eat better. Plan is salad or fruit with every meal. Drink water only and only 2 beers a day which will be consumed from a chilled glass to enjoy the consumption (rather than necking a stubby as I do my chores)
Second, is golf lessons and an improvement plan. After I see my coach we’ll decide on the TPI assessment. Lesson is booked for 7th.
Third, new surfboards. I need the motivation to get me in the water. More time in water = better fitness, weight loss and cross training for golf.
Bring on 2020!

Hack2489ParticipantIs there any way to get a ‘new content’ or even a ‘recent discussions’ summary on the main Forum index page?
Going into every sub forum to look for ‘new posts’ is a PITA.
I see the ‘wordpress’ dashboard has it sort of, but that’s a PITA to get into too.
Im sure there must be though web designers are off till New Year. SIU till then;)
Unfortunately Mike I think that timeline might be enough to lose the little momentum there is…
It’s holiday season so people have time to browse forums. Once lost, hard to get back.
The old ISG ‘new content’ summary was the go to for me and I suspect a lot of the others. I use similar on other forms. Some call it latest activity, others recent discussions. Whatever it is called it needs to stand out like dogs balls on the main Forum index page.
I’m also thinking the ‘state based’ sub forums are spreading the content too far. Too many areas ATM to go into to read stuff. Would work if there is a new posts type summary though.
Just my $0.02 while I wait for the roast to cook and the batteries for the RC car to recharge!
Thanks Hack I appreciate your input over the past few months.
This is a self funded site and one that will only “take” off if/when the other site shuts down.
Chicken before the egg scenario as I’m not investing heaps on this site until we know what is happening for sure with former. Even then I don’t have the funds to do a massive upgrade here. Will have to take it in small steps.
I’ll take the feedback from past month and have web team do an upgrade to see if can get better functionality.
Nationals will start ramping up in a couple months and maybe then we’ll see what is a happening with other site.
Happy holidays. See you in the other side!
Why cannot we all contribute to funding the site. Don’t know how much it costs to set up and maintain site like this, but surely we could all throw in the cost of a coffee each month??
Think it might take more than the cost of a cup.of hot water, teaspoon of international roast and a dash of milk!
But, in all seriousness, agreed.
If everyone used the golf balls they play as their benchmark, then contributed the cost of a box of those to a ‘L4G forum development fund’, we could have a swimming pool built off ‘the deck.

Hack2489ParticipantI think what surprises me most about the forum is the lack of discussion about the playing field, ie the golf course, and the amount (a lot) of discourse about what people scored.
The ISG forum had a specific place for golf course discussion, albeit it wasn’t heavily populated compared to the days/weekend score updates.
Do people care what other people scored? What’s with the obsession with this?
Even more startling is the lack of discussion about tournament/professional golf. Do people care about that at all? We just had the most significant tournament ever held in the country and barely a word.
Do people actually like golf? Or just play it for the score/handicap?Thanks for your honesty.
You’ll see I started a thread about golf courses, see here:
Tournament stuff… Start it! I’ll happily join in that discussion.
As for the posting scores, etc. plus the journey threads, I think they have there place. I’m personally more interesting in the improvement and ‘how’ which as you’ll read is more the content of my journal / journey thread.

Hack2489ParticipantTrying to find a swing that doesn’t destroy my lower back, yet produce playable distance and consistency is alluding me ATM.
Broken range session of 10 balls at a time, then collect to stop the over use of my lower back was inter mixed with providing locals knowledge to Weeti and his crew.
I just need to ‘know’ ‘how to power the swing without lower back strain. Going to book in for a lesson and might then follow up on the TGI assessment.
I’ve also been reading a bit of Bradley Hughes swing philosophy and mechanics online. Tried a but if it today, but find any time I think about my hands or forearm rotation i end up with ugly results.
For me, ATM, relaxed, non active wrists and hands with a full shoulder turn seems to give me better results. Powering the downswing then becomes an issue is I start with hips as that crunches my back.
Similar problems and I’m over trying to find the solution.. Let me know when you solve the riddle and what the answer is, because after 5 years of trying to find it, the back gets worse as does the swing. Sometimes I just find that, just let it happen and accept what is about to happen, rather than think about it is more beneficial to the game. Doesn’t help the post game ouches, but the score is often more reflective of not letting it bother me.
Yeah, it’s bloody frustrating. Wanting to improve but being limited by lower back restrict is a PITA.
On reflection, my back was never as bad before I started using my lower body to drive the swing (focus on hips turning to start the downswing), but, it would go ‘out’ if I tried to get any distance or swing power / speed.
I think I’m better when I restrict my backswng to what feels like a 3/4 swing. I also think I’m better when I let the arms power the swing by coming off the chest and being more relaxed overall, but especially in the wrists and hands.

Hack2489ParticipantHack – was good to meet you. Thanks for the course thoughts.
You were totally correct about the greens – right up there with the worst greens I have ever played on. I’ve never encountered pot holes on a green before. Never had a putt jump up to knee height either!
Still enjoyed the day although I played like a complete idiot and had 95 net 82.
Oh well – such is golf
That 95 included the best knee high bounce from a putt I’ve ever seen! No doubt your score was reflective of the putting conditions.
So, what is this ‘order’ and the cup.you play for? I think you mentioned on the other site a while back too??

Hack2489ParticipantSo, how’d you finish up Weeti?
After your putt on the first, I’d just like to confirm my course report regarding the condition of the greens was accurate.
Also, tell pants I couldn’t find his provisional ball in any of the front yards on Narooma Street. Hope he found his first ball.

Hack2489Participant3 NTP is a very good feeling
It was a very mediocre field.
And.
They were drinking heavily, despite the 8.30am tee off.
Merely getting GIR was enough to get 2 of the NTP.
