Smoldy....when only the best will doI went to a Bunnings yesterday…one look at the queue waiting to get in was enough for me…straight out.
Herein lies at least one small percentage of the hypocrisy of the current rules. I can honestly say the most threatened I feel in regard to COVID is when I go to buy stuff. Any stuff. But of course…this is “essential” activity.
People running the tan…or any remotely “highly physical” activity offers a far greater risk than golf with all of the precautions in place.
But the shithead running our state will in no way back down now…especially with all of the challenges to his authority that he is getting from all over the place in relation to this and other similarly “safe” activities.

I’m prepared to be as childish and petulant as is required. And I know it’s only been a few weeks.
But I agree with Carson 100%.
Unfortunately, I reckon Sam Newman’s twitter protests will have only strengthened the Chairman’s resolve to extend us the middle finger for as long as he sees fit.

Golf Australia’s focus during the COVID-19 pandemic will always be the wellbeing of the broader community.
Combined with our enduring responsibility for our clubs, their staff and all Australian golfers, we remain comfortable that our position recommending that clubs close has been appropriate to this point.
But, acknowledging the long challenge that lies ahead of all Australians during this pandemic, we have been encouraged to see golf played in comparative safety in five states and one territory in recent weeks as we all adopt social distancing necessities.
Under strict and specific safety protocols – enforced by state and territory guidelines as well as individual club rules – Golf Australia is now satisfied that golf can be played at minimal risk. Having worked collaboratively with our clubs and other stakeholders, we are now comfortable to alter our position and encourage courses to open and for people to play.
As well as social distancing, these safety protocols include keeping gloves on and not touching hands with playing partners, not sharing carts, leaving flags in, reducing hole depth, greater times between groups, not exchanging cards, not using bunker rakes and maintaining personal hygiene.
The ability to play currently does not apply to those in Victoria and the Northern Territory where golf remains prohibited under local laws. As ever, Golf Australia will continue constructive dialogue and advocacy for golfers with these governments.
It is important to note that Golf Australia may again alter our position depending on the changing requirements of governments (Federal, state and territory) as the COVID-19 crisis unfolds.Now…to get Reichfuhrer Dan to allow us back outside….

Smoldy....when only the best will doOk…this is pretty free format…and is prompted by Informer 3838…the latest Underbelly instalment from Channel 9.
So they’ve decided to cast in the role of the titular informer 3838…a lady by the name of Ella Scott Lynch. Now…it’s a TV show…and I understand they want people to watch…and they will take artistic license…BUT. This actress bears about the same resemblance to the real life character as a mermaid does to a whale.
And in unrelated news, George Clooney has been cast to play me in the upcoming mini-series “Goldy – The Bunting Chronicles”
But someone thought that was a good idea…..
Maybe they should have done it as a comedy/drama and cast Magda Szubanski.
Magda would have been closer to the real deal. Although no one wants to see her with her kit off.

Smoldy....when only the best will doWhy is it that when we try for a safe shot off the tee, we manage to hook/ slice it into the very trouble were are trying to avoid?
An excellent point.
There are 3 tee shots in particular on my own course that I take a cautious approach to – and often hit poorly because I’m frightened of the consequences of hitting poorly….it’s great logic, isn’t it. So I’ve decided to just try to hit the best shot I can on all 3 (one is a layup par 4 that I’d resorted to 3w off the tee…and STILL managed to stuff it up) and oddly enough that has worked out way better on all 3 holes. Go figure.
For those playing at home, those holes are 5, 14 and 26. One on each layout.

Smoldy....when only the best will doHaving spent the best part of the entire week watching Masters replays…FFS..1996…stop…anyway…watching Scotty’s 2013 win for the umpteenth time, I just want to say again what a magnificent human being Angel Cabrera is. The manner in which he congratulated Scott and seemed genuinely happy for him was above and beyond. The thumbs up on the approach shot to the 10th in the playoff was just the early sign. The embrace and the walk off together at the end said it all.
Angel…you’re a farken legend.
