CommishParticipantStableford at Green Acres yesterday. (Never played there) A tight tree lined course that needs accuracy off the tee. A low course rating so my GL 9.6 translated to playing off 9 for the day.
Front 9 – 20 points ( 2 over 38 OTS)
Back 9 – 18 points ( 5 over 40 OTS)38 points got me a 3rd in A grade and a NTP. Drove pretty well with about 12 FIR and 10 GIR.
An enjoyable course that I would like to play again.
Were Oliver, Sam and Haney in your group??
?? Not sure what you are getting at?
You obviously never watched the 60’s TV show. 😁

CommishParticipantI played my first round in a while which included swinging a club for the first time in a while.
Hit a wedge on the par 3 1st a touch thin and it went out of bounds long.
Wash
Smashed 3 wood with draw that took a wicked kick left into the dam.
1 point
Smashed driver, chipped up and three putted
1 point
Smashed driver along the right hand side.
Couldn’t find the ball under the leaves.
Wash.
I was two points after 4 holes.
The greens had been cored recently and weren’t as brilliant as Piney greens always are and the overall course was as sad a condition as I’ve ever remembered seeing it, it was a real shame for the team.
Finished with 30 points.
The best thing about the day was exactly what I had hoped it would be.Hope you smashed a few Bundies post round as well. Yep, best part about any golf game is the company you share it with. Well, most of the time anyway. I assume that is what you are talking about.🤔

CommishParticipantMy last 7 rounds in GL were all in the 20s (points). Until today.
The usual stab at Warra.
Started with two 6s (most holes are par 4), then two 5s, then two 4s, two 5s (par3 & par5), two more 4s, then the pattern broke.
18 out, 22 back for 40 points. That’s been a long time coming. All up, three doubles, seven bogeys, eight pars.I would like to think that I’ve ‘cracked it’ for consistent drives, but I just know that Saturday will be back to normal.
Thursdays are usually a small field (57 today), but it looks like I’m in the money.
Sounds like your inconsistency comes down to the mental aspect of the game and what it does to your confidence. Bit like myself actually.
CommishParticipantGood stuff Frank
Yep…scary stuff….20 years ago retirement was ages away…..NOW it’s something I have to consider more seriously.
YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!!!

CommishParticipantHope I haven’t peaked too early.
Another round today at Elanora off the blue tees and 38pts. I’ve gotta stop doing this or my handicap will drop too much and I’ll never win anything 😏
Do testing rounds count for your handicap???🤔

CommishParticipantI’ve finally edged my ‘cap out to 18.0
OldBOgey 15 / 16.5 / 17
So you are an over achiever!!!
CommishParticipantI just upgraded my 15 year old drive in search of a few extra yards to a Srixon Z785. Went to the range for a side by side comparison and my old Exotics XCG5 (which I picked up on Ebay for $80) outperformed the new driver in length, carry length, ball speed pretty much every stat you could think of.
Goes to show if it is not broke don’t fix it!!
Expect the Srixon Z785 to be on Ebay shortly.
What are the shaft comparisons??

CommishParticipantNow I’m curious, did any of the rule advice that you offered affect the bloke playing in his Senior’s Champs?
Of course not. Didn’t have any affect on Micks result at all.
