    I forgot one
    7) get good at chipping and putting. It is the one aspect of golf that we amateurs can get close to Pro level performance.

Here are the 10 rules of scoring according to Will Robins.
he found with his scoring method system that Double bogeys come from breaking one of these rules.

    1. missed short putts under 1.5m
    2.penalty strokes
3.not getting out of trouble and safely back in play
    4 having 3 putts
    5 Under clubbing
6.Playing risky shots, ie a shot you are not capable of playing
    7 short siding on approach
8 holding on to bad shots
9 misreading the lie of the shot
    10 starting poorly

In the net, for good shots it is around the 1.4 mark. For shots you can tell it isn’t great, it is down around 1.3

this factor indicates not a consistent strike on or near centre of club face.
spray some powder on face and see where your strike is on club face.
also does your launch monitor give ball spin, maybe you dont have enough ball spin to get ball into the air. for your swing speed need around 2800 to 3000 rpm.
ball speed will vary a bit by type of ball.

Special, from your description of “spitting out low”, I assume you are de-lofting the club considerably and trying to blast the ball out with a large handful of sand. While that can be made to work, it has its problems.
I’d recommend Phil Mickelson’s bunker CD for good guidance.

You haven’t t told us anything about the loft and bounce angle of the club you usually use and about the consistency and texture of the sand.

I try keep the face open and hands central, i use a 60 degree for sand shots..

I think it is probably taking too much sand.. the bunkers are reasonably soft and deep with sand.. wetter weather make them a bit more condensed and harder to get under however.. If i miss i do one of 2 things… scoot through the sand and thin the ball out or take too much sand and it doesn’t get out.

The longer further back ones I tend to take a larger swing that takes way more sand where as the closer ones I have a comfortable tempo and it gets out ok.

Talk with your coach and learn the correct technique, which is same as hitting over a bunker.
As Old bogey says talk with your coach about the bounce on your wedge.
do you have a 56 deg with 10 to 12 deg bounce will hit ball higher out of soft sand than a 60 deg which it sound like you are digging in.
at Cranbourne the bunkers are deep, so try and avoid them.

Are passports and other documentation available here too?

Hope so because we are soon going to need a passport in Victoria to travel to other regions of the divided states of Australia (DSA)

Ever have those days where you feel like you are playing really well but your score indicates you played like a big bag of shit?

I had one of those today.. scored -8 in par playing off 18. But for the first time I actually felt like I was playing to my hc but the score did not reflect it whatsoever. I was in pretty much every hole but a game of inches, marginal mistakes were turning par opportunities into doubles.

Putting and bunker play was the worst I’ve been for quite some time, couldn’t get out of a couple of bunkers and picked up and 3 putted honestly about 6 times. Had some birdie putts turned into bogies and par putts turned into wipes. Also had a lost ball on 2 holes despite being in a good position and just completely miss hit one into the thick bush.

But I’ve always been most concerned with the long game and today the driver performed well which was nice. Was in most holes and just blew it around the green and the sand so positive is I’m normally not too bad in that area of the game, so if I can keep striking it like that it will come together. I could have so easily been 0 today as it turned out I had -8.

    Positives!

Never focus on your score, it builds tension, focus on the process of how you go about playing..

look back almost certainly your poor bunker shots came about not because of technique, but because you tried to get close instead of just getting out.

dont put a value on the putt, ie its for a par or birdie, as each putt is same value its just on shot.

How do you define a birdie putt.? realistic anything more than 10 ft 3m is at best a good chance for 2 putt.
bet your 6x 3 putts came about because you tried to make the putts for birdie, ran first on 2m past then missed next one, Yes.
instead of lagging close when putting from more than 3m.

I found it useful to work out average distances that I hit clubs. I made a list of swing speed/ shot distance and averaged out 5 for each club. I also recorded my best shot with a high smash factor. It is handy to know how far a shot might go if you really get a great strike.

The other training use I have used it for is trying to increase my swing speed. Often you think you are getting faster, but you are not. I was trying to a ladder like drill in increasing swing speed.

What is your smash factor with your driver. ?

if swing is efficient it should be close to 1.5

To elaborate on the Arccos Caddie App handicap ratings, it has given me the following numbers for my last 10 games.

    Tee shots (26) , approach ( 16) , chipping ( 7) , sand ( 4) , putting (6). Overall rating 13.2. in comparison to my GA 17.2

So in my last game it rated my games tee shots at 30 + handicap , so my driving game was worse than average.

So whats the answer (secret ) to improvement.
clearly Arcoss is saying to go out and hit 1000 practice balls and gain an extra 25m on your driver.
play the plus 20m game and see what arcoss gives you as a driving handicap.

What does your on line coach Jim Venetos say about your driving swing

A practice round today to work on some issues. Cold, but no rain and wind.

    Two steps forward
    1) short game on song
    2) I have found my 160 m low trajectory shot for windy conditions with a 2 Hybrid ( 17.5 degrees). Hit 6 GIR today which is an improvement.

    One step back
Tee shots still too short. I think I am / know I am trying to steer the ball into play rather than letting the club go. it is killing my club head speed. I tried measuring my club head speed in the net later and it went from low 80s to 89 mph in 5 minutes. Looser grip and arms to get a swishing happening.

what make you say your Tee shots too short.? by how much are you short.
go and play the Plus 20 m game.

after your tee shot, pick up ball and move it further down fairway an extra 20 m. then play from there.
see what number of strokes that 20 m has on you total score for round. BUT also if you are in rubbish move 20 m down and also in rubbish.
try it, and see how much difference it really makes. my guess is it will only improve you by1 to 2 shots. You can then decide whether to spend $5000 to gain that extra 20m and 2 shots.

also you said tow bad tee shots, golf is a hard game and the pro’s dont hit every tee shot perfect.

Slow game movement got in my head today. I was 0 through 6 in par and my mate was -1. But around the 4th hole we started getting really agitated at some of the things the group in front of us were doing.

They’d stand and wait for the group in front to leave the green, then only once they’d left the green would they measure the distance, pick a club, have about 4 practice swings then hit. While the partner would stand and watch, then walk over to his ball which he could have got to while his partner was hitting, then do the same thing. One time they were on there second shot on a par 5, and waited until the group in front were off the green to hit. They were not great golfers so no chance in hell were they making it from 250+ out.

They’d mark their balls each time, wait for the mate to putt and second putt, when they could quite easily putt in between. Then once mate was finished would put ball down, read the putt from about 3 different angles, practice putt then finally hit it.

By the 14th or 15th one of the guys would start playing a practice ball every time he didn’t like a shot he hit.. did it about 3-4 times.

Each time they did one of these things we’d just have to stand and wait and watch it all happen. We understand it’s busy and its going to be slow, but was infuriating that they weren’t ready to hit each time it was clear. If you’re waiting, be ready to hit you know?

Our golf was shit but it definitely got our noses out of joint big time it was a talking point for us every hole. I went -10 my mate went -11. Fair to say we made a complaint.

welcome to your new club. That is what its like in club golf.

control the things you can control , not the things you cannot.

the speed of play of group in front falls in the second part.
you let the situation effect your score.

Stab at Warra today. 13 out (bloody 5th hole stole my ball from beside the green – wipe). 20 back in with a few pars.
    33 point total.

It looks like my golf is steadying.

dont complain, at least you can play at moment.

We Victorians might need a passport and other document papers to just to travel to NSW for the Nationals in October.

How’s that going to work….now the boarders are closed between NSW & Vic? 😉

And we are going to have to get smuggled out of our poisonous postcodes, to go and play golf in the bush.(if golf is still allowed that is.)

You’re allowed to exercise within the prison confines. So you can zip down to Langy which is in Cardinia.

Error: the Lang Lang golf course is just outside the shire, immediately off the south east corner. But you might get away with it. Depends on where they put the checkpoint.

As I’m an outsider, I can go there, provided I go through Nyora.

No we received a note saying my dangerous post code is not welcome to go to Langy for 6 weeks..
lots of our membership is located in the poison areas and so wont be playing.

some members probably wont renew membership which is due end of month.
OB if you want to play no worries getting on. BUT no carts are allowed at moment.

Maybe us Melbourne players have to avoid the border police and dig a tunnel under the Murray and have a great escape to play golf in the clean virus free zone.
