Can break 80ParticipantGolf at Churchill Park with Bill Bradman yesterday.
fun day, lots of good shots, decided to play from forward tees and play aggressive golf, and making a few more pars but ending up in some wild places with missed approach shots, lost at least 3 balls in long rough.
chipping still not sharp but will improve with more play. Putting getting feel back.Bill lived up to his Bradman name with a nice 100. he is learning to use less loft on chipping, ie with hybrid and 7 irons rather than LW. results getting better.
Centenary park tomorrow with Dancer, where the game will be red tee, white tee, blue tee then finally back to Langy next Friday
Can break 80ParticipantGood scoring xr
All I have to do is play like this when in a proper game!
I played this afternoon in sunny but cool conditions with a 20 m headwind from the South.
I started with a well planned and executed par ( isn’t that great when it goes to plan), but upon coming up behind a very slow couple of lady players on hole 2 my game went wrong. After a 5 minute wait for my second shot, my 4W approach shot push right and behind a tree. I had to chip out and chip on for a double bogey. I ended up with 4 pars, 4 bogeys and one double. I am managing to get on the green for three on the par 5 holes, but on one the first put was very long and the second putt hit the edge of then hole and deflected out.Two steps forward
1) I hit most of the fairways off the tee, and the ones I missed, it is only slightly in the left rough. I was thinking” visualization and fee’l before each tee shot. It seemed to work.
2) Putting was fairly goodOne Step Back
My fairway approach shots at my maximum distance are not accurate enough. I think it is down to me trying to hit the ball hard and losing my form. It makes sense for me to lay up instead and try for a accurate chip shot at the pin. I must lack discipline! It is obviously not a 70% shot.what distance are your talking about for your approach shots ,150m
how far from the hole are you hitting the approach shots you think are not accurate enough? are you expecting too much…?as a rule proximity to hole is 10 % of approach distance which is about the pga tour average for player number 250 on money list.
from.
160 to 182m =20m
150m inside 15m
100m = 10m.
50m = 5m
so on a course with small greens 30m long by 20 m wide
Can break 80Participant34 pts at Mt Derrimut – much better with today’s play – a few missed putts and tee shots, overall in a happy place.
You have 39 points the other day but dont hit it good, today you had better hitting but scored lower.?
Can break 80ParticipantI rarely play ‘comp’ so posting in here is somewhat of a novelty. but since I played in the ‘blue marker challenge’ at OSCC on Friday, here I am.
102 OTS for a ‘played to’ of … well, that’s to be determined. For some reason my score hasn’t posted to my GA.
Maybe due to the course being re-rating? Don’t know, need to call them today. When the re-rating goes through, it will now be a slope of 148, scratch 74. Currently a slope 138, scratch 74.
Current rating slope 138 will give me a played to of 22.9. Re-rated 148 will be 21.4.
Either way really, a bit off my GA of 15.6
A slope of 148 will make it OSCC one of the highest rated in the country.

Can break 80ParticipantPlayed today at Eastern Sward with Dancer.$20 green fees which is good value. caught up with coach Garth who is developing course nicely.
very good condition of course with lush fairways and greens are good putting surface, moderate fast down hill, lots of break on some of them. This course is about position off tee.
lots of lakes to get into and small greens where need to keep your approach shots .
Best hole on course is par 3 8th.
1st time round its 175m, second time its 154m to a small well bunkered 2 tier green
Fun day will be back again soon.1 user liked this post.
Can break 80ParticipantRound one of matchplay champs today.
As predicted, went down 2&1.
I was ahead of my handicap after nine and was leading 2 up. But I weakened and my opponent had a few good holes, taking me to 2 down after 15, and that’s where it stayed.Although I only had to give him two strokes, his next opponent (handicap +3) has to give him 21.
good warm up for next years pennant, that is assuming no one will call it off again because somebody catches a mild cold.
Can break 80ParticipantToday was a much better performance.i payed to my handicap ( 15) . I hit 6 GIR, but made few up and downs.
Two steps forward.
1) tee shots were generally hitting the fairways, with reasonable distance.
2) Fairway shots with Hybrids and 4 wood went well when I got onto them. I did overuse the 4W though in less than ideal lies.
3) The putter was way better 17 by two putts and one one putt( it was a good one !)
4) I used my distance chart to good effect to chip/pitch the ball onto the green. One step back
1) I thinned a few iron shots and went through the greens as a result.
2) I found out that the chipper isn’t much good in poor lies ( tufty grass) it chunks!good to see you are learning to play golf with a mask.
Can break 80ParticipantHi all, many people may be aware that during the lockdown the people of Northcote and surrounding suburbs took over the Northcote Public Golf Course. The current state is that golf is back for now, the current management agreement runs out next year and the council has ear marked the course for public space. This means either limited golf and sharing the space with other activities (picnics, walkers, music venue etc) or what many on councils preference would be no golf.
A local group of players have banded together to try and save NGC, generally speaking they seem to be quite moderate and aware that things may not be the same as before but they just want somewhere to play golf. They have a petition that they will present to council would be greatly appreciated if you would consider signing it to save a local public golf venue.
Regards,
Will the councillors change at the just completed election,.
Can break 80ParticipantYes OB I played Centenary park Tuesday with Dancer, very good day and course was in excellent condition.
dancer played great golf with a 94 off the stick. he defeated me 6&4 in our match.
$19 after 2pm= great value.Yesterday I played Royal Garfield with Littleman. Course was enjoyable as always. green were slower than normal, lush grass cover on the fairways, so good lies all way round. I was in the trees all day and still had good lies.
Littleman will probably join Garfield over summer. its close to his new farm and he goes skiiing over winter.
Lots of players were out playing yesterday and even so, we went round in just on 3hrs 15.
Taking our time, hitting a few extra shots etc.scheduled to play Lang Lang next Thursday with Dancer and Warra next Sunday, but if CoviDan announces tomorrow that the BS Metro Wall is still in place until December or March next year , will look to join somewhere else so I can continue to play over summer

Can break 80ParticipantStab at Warra today. A few good holes of 3 points each and a few more wipes. 14 out & back for a miserable 28 point total.
I had some fun in a couple of bunkers trying gentle outs but failing, so I continued to successfully repeat the failures quite precisely. I could hit the lip at the top of the bunker every time. There are plenty of you tube instructional videos on how not to get out of a bunkers.
If you are hitting the top lip that shows consistency in technique.
Can break 80ParticipantSand scrapes are such good fun. and certainly need a different game approach. you were wise to leave SW and LW in car
No ProV’s and back spin needed.
the trick to putting well is how well you learn the art of scraping the sand to obtain smooth surface for putt.1 user liked this post.
Can break 80ParticipantI’m not religious, but with Dan not allowing believers to pray for something better, one could assume that he bats for the other side.
These restrictions really are ridiculous. Previously (a step or two back), we could have up to 5 guests which enabled our weekly get together of four old farts sharing a few drinks and snacks. Now that we’re all bubbling along quite nicely, with no coronavirus for more than 6 months, we can have 10 people from two households if they’ve bubbled together, but I can’t have 3 people from 3 households. They’re not even allowed to go anywhere where they might catch the fucking virus.
It’s all very depressing.
A lot of the restrictions dont make any sense.
