BumpunRunParticipantSurely the home of golf on the NSW/Vic border must get a Guernsey!!
Is that where my home course is??
Well there you go, I’ve learnt something new today
BumpunRunParticipantThanks for asking, here is the blow by blow
started on 1. Driver – absolutely dead straight, I wanted a slight draw to take to to the left hand side out of the line of the bunkers front right of the green, it did not deviate an inch and I was left with about a 60m lob wedge chip. I hit it straight into the bunker.
Took a bogey from being less than 60 out…
Short iron misses from inside of 80 = 1
Second hole. The sign at the tee block says 250m to the water from this point, I used 3 wood – and smashed it, lucky I did. I was less than 5 from the water. That left me a pitching wedge. I hit it front edge and three putted for bogey.
Third hole – par 3, hit 8 iron. I fanned it right and plugged it in top face of a bunker right hand side. I didn’t get that one out and then three putted for a double.
Fourth hole – took 3 wood again and was left with about 45 in. Dad had hit from about 70 and his landed middle of the green and rolled all the way off the back, so I am good at learning and knocked down a sand-wedge and landed it on front edge … it rolled off the back. Had bogey here too.
Short iron miss from inside of 80 = 2
Sitting 5 over after 4.
Still blown away by how hard and rolling the greens were I hit pitching wedge on 5, and it landed a touch shorter of where I wanted, and stopped dead. Three putted to be 6 over after 5, with all handicap gone and hitting 3 genuinely perfectly struck tee shots.
6th, par 5 where I had planned on making up some shots, worst drive of the day, I hit it over the bunker and it stayed in the trees. Hit an super fun slinging 4 iron up the fairway to be about 40 out. Hit lob wedge and guess what? I didn’t hit the green… got up and down for my first par of the day.
then on 7th, a harder par 5 that I saw as a birdie hole, ideal line was over the bunker on the left hand side. Placegetter sat his on the top lip of said bunker, Dad hit his in that bunker and I flew it while it was still climbing. I measured that drive at 270, then hit 5 iron along the left hand side to leave myself with a shirt lob wedge in…. how clever am I?!?
I did hit the green but not stiff enough for a birdie, but easy par.
on 8, par 4, absolutely tagged driver again to be a short lob wedge out, tried a knock down and hit it a touch thin and it rolled off the back, shitty lie so didn’t get up and down.
7 over after 8
9 my line was anywhere in the middle, I smashed it long up the right to be a 9 iron out…. and didn’t hit the green, it went in the left bunker. I did get up and down for 14 points on the front.More rums collected at half time. I ended up drinking a fair bit which was probably evident at the speeches, but I digress
on 10, smashed driver to be long and right hand side away from the water. I probably missed the green here, I can’t remember
on 11, another one of my best drives of the day, I belted this thing long high with draw around the water, I think I had a 7 iron in. Must have parred it because I didn’t birdie it.
on 12, I smashed driver on this par 5 and had a 6 iron length in, but the green was too protected with bunkers from that range so I must have aimed somewhere for a short lob wedge…
13, I was spewing, it was playing into the wind a full 4 iron length, pin at the back and I went through. I had a tiny little sand wedge bump on, and couldn’t have landed it any better just over the rough and it rolled plenty passed, must have two putted from there.
14 was the log drive hole, I went last. Place went right, Dad was perfect, for him and I absolutely tagged my driver again but drew it more than I needed and was just off the fairway, I was however a short lob wedge out… it took me 14 holes to hit a decent lob wedge because I put it to a couple of feet and got the bird here.
15, can’t remember, but I am sure I smashed driver and had a short lob wedge in, must have parred it.
16 was the one I had been thinking about all week, but as described above I wussed out because of the gusting winds, I smashed 3 woos to be a shirt lob wedge out, which I put into the bunker in front of me. I did hit the pin with the bunker shot for a tap in par.
on 17, I drew the 8 iron punch a touch too much but it landed and spun sideways, into the water. Bogey
on 18 I wanted to be long and right, but by this stage I probably wasn’t sure what end of the club to hold, I smashed driver long with draw that must have kicked and gone in the water, because it wasn’t where we thought it should be and bogey finish…
for a 2 over over back nine with the last two holes.
It was a weird feeling day where I felt like I was absolutely smashing my tee shots all day but not scoring because I was missing greens when I could have thrown it on.
I didn’t have many putts drop either, but all up to play with Place and Dad was a long awaited desire of mine, so I made the most of it by drinking a lot and having lots of laughs. All up, I only missed the two fairways, one of 6 and then just off on 14 – which was a birdie hole
But wouldn’t have hit many greens in reg at all.
It’s still one of my bestest favourite courses ever3 users liked this post.
BumpunRunParticipantso, depending on what hole we tee off on with the shot gun start, this is 16.
If I am off either, 17, 18 or 1 rather than 16, this will be my tee shot. It’s a 210m carry over that longest point of the pond that could roll up towards the green.
wish me luck
Did you pull it off?
Nah, by the time we got to 16 it was too gusty to have a crack with the driver so I chickened out and took 3 wood. I did smash it still and probably could have and should have considering where the 3 wood finished…
I will take up a lot of space in Weets thread to post how I played to make him feel better, but this hole saw me chip my lob wedge approach into the bunker. Remember that for when you’re all playing along at home

BumpunRunParticipantSo, in the absence of anywhere fun for me to document my updates and progression, I will just use my #twinnings thread to update the house.
I have been playing with some website I found where you can plot your way around each hole with distances and alignments and all that so I now have my tee shots mapped out and sorted to know where i need to put the ball for the best chance of a par round.
disappointingly, there are only a couple of times where I will be teeing off with Ink’s head, most of the holes will be big dog.
I will be making use of Ink’s head on 1 though, as shown on the attachedAttachments:

BumpunRunParticipantI am thinking one that has had a run before.
The Gold Coast courses are more of a fun party, colourful type of attire compared to the more traditional elegant attire that will get the nod at my future home course.
At this point I have this planned ….. dammit, I am still trying to work out how to do photosPostings pics is a PITA. Nice to see you won the battle.
I think we discussed this previously… Isn’t the rule blue and green shouldn’t be seen unless there’s a colour in between?
So, white belt?
would there be a better colour option to add to the mix?
I can look at;
red
orange
yellow
purple
green
navy blue
red with black ladybeetle spots
a few different ones of coloured stripes…navy could possibly work, the thought with that Federation Blue was to match my sunnies, but navy would match the hat.
alternatively, any of the above plain colours will act to break up the look completely….You have posed some very good questions there Hack, you’re a good man.

BumpunRunParticipantMy game this weekend will knock off a played to 7.3 that I had at Palm Meadows, on 31 July 2016.
Then our game at the Flats will drop off my 6.0 from Royal Pines in September 2016.But then I will still have a score from November 2016 in there for some time yet
Good times -
