BumpunRunParticipantMr Upnin, is the course playing all 1-18 at the moment?
BumpunRunParticipantHave been in Jewellery trade…and same company…for 43 years after leaving school at age 15.
Became Manager in 1988 and when the boss retired in 2000 myself and another tradesman took it over becoming partners. We split the partnership up in 2011 and he graciously allowed me to keep this business name going. In 2015 I had what I consider some sort of breakdown and decided that I needed to do something else to save my sanity and that of my family. With my love of golf and how golf works, I took on a role at Elanora Country Club as Course Marshal and I can honestly say that it was a decision that has changed my life, for the better.
Now I’m there 4 days, still a casual but doing around 28-30 hours a week..still running the Jewellery manufacturing business from home, 2 days a week, so in reality I’ve turned my job into a hobby and my hobby into a job…and I love it!
Did we ever confess the full story to the team about what was allegedly yours and my first ever meeting on the putting green at Palm Meadows of the very first Saturday of the very first Nationals?
Following a few weeks worth of sledging and offers of huge bets for a putt off?
and how the end bet was upwards of $200 after I kept on running my mouth off?
and how your first putt was the worst in the history of the world?
and how I had to try and make mine even worse without trying to make it look obvious?Good times….
You are one of the very good blokes JB and I am very thankful that you’re still hanging onto the skills of your new hobby
BumpunRunParticipantso I need to check the flags before I tee off on each hole too… jeepers, this is enough to send a man to drink
You’ve already asked about that……
I was just reiterating after bringing it across to the correct thread…
It also takes me two times to remember things

BumpunRunParticipantIt all depends on the flag position. If it is left laying up Left from the tee, presumably with 3 wood, is a reasonable option, as is centre fairway. If flag is on the right, centre or right is the better option. Long with the approach is the only choice and remember the approach is a half club uphill and almost always into the prevailing breezes. Subject to the strength of said breezes, the driver is a better option as a real man (read young buck) will blow it past the bunker and leave himself a wedge of some sort.
It’s a very elevated saucer-type green from the front. The chip up from in front of the bunker would be considerably tougher
it is ‘flatter’ from the back/left so that might be a better miss.Hopefully Up will see this and correct me where I am wrong and let me know what and why I should be doing, I would like that a lot
Playing a drive depending on where the pin is, I like that – I am going to try that
following hitting driver on 1, the second and third holes will both be attacking 3 woods.
On two I will be a lob wedge out, where the flag can be anywhere from 5m on to 30m on.
Turning the driver over to the left leaves me down in the nasty area that I didn’t like and pushing it right is tree city within the bunker, again, I didn’t like it here either. It will be a carry over the doodle-looking like bunker outcrop on the right hand side leaving me a little flick in.Then on 3, anything longer than a 4 iron off the tee is a tight landing area. The play can be with a pin point 3 iron to the longest part on the right hand side of the fairway to leave a straight shot up in towards the flag.
Too long with driver chasing length on the left hand side will go into the bunker, so the line will be as close to the right-hand outcrop of the left hand bunker to leave something like a 6 or 7 iron in.(note, the 2nd is on the left and the third is the one on the right)
yeah?

BumpunRunParticipantI have played a few more holes over in my head again….
When we get around to the first, it will be a line as far left towards the bunker as possible to take the front greenside bunker out of play as much as possible.
Then knowing that there is 10m to carry the bunker from the front of the green distance.
The safe approach is a bail out left hand side, but that is naturally a nasty slippery chip and/or putt …Attachments:

BumpunRunParticipantLess than four weeks out now, do I have to start talking to the bank about extending the loan?
What are we playing for?
Weets and Upnin against me.
4ball stroke?
Or Matchplay? What’s on the line here?
I keen to really talk up a big game to get the punters excited!!Usual match is best ball stableford and the losers pop the money on the bar for the pleasure of the victors – they at least get to recoup some of their loss in the drinks. Did I mention I’m off the wagon from the 7th?
Played in the Thursday game at The Australian years ago with the Purple Gang, one of that fraternity was one Kerry Francis Bullmore Packer. Given it was always a draw for partners, I enquired as to what Kerry’s standard bet might be (also fearful of not being able to pay the freight). Turns out it was a simple $10 Nassau – oh, and you can add as many 0s as you are comfortable with…..didn’t end up drawing him, which is just as well, he may have wanted to check my bonafides for the $10mx$10mx$10m I had in mind.
As for the match, I might just bring a smokey along and play you two bods.
Just like Kerry, I don’t get out of bed for anything less than a $10 bet
BumpunRunParticipantBy the way, are you fellas figuring on showering and changing apres golf, and then partaking in the consumption in a fair amount of strong liquor?
Or, will it be the usual bottle of Coke and off?
Just curious……
consumption of significant amounts of liquor afterwards, unlikely due to current road rules…. lunch, however, very much yes please

BumpunRunParticipantOk, I’ll start… How good to see Cam Smith start the year in Hawaii with a big 1!
Was it inspired by Scomo?
Did P Reed watch?-

Did Yarn give him a pep talk before Christmas?
I am sure that Razaar Ray was keeping him fired up and calm
BumpunRunParticipantI stopped reading that sentence after I didn’t know what de jure means. I assumed it means sexy and that you too believe MP is sexy
but yes, match play it is
BumpunRunParticipantCleverly getting your bad rounds out now to put on a scoring clinic in four week’s time.
I am going to build this up to be epic, I’ll have played the game over in my head 15 times before the first tee and be mentally spent and defeated before I even get there…
Are memberships transferable?
Can that be a bet on offer? -
