Wow – what happened on 2?

playing personal par, I obviously laid up.
Then chipped it up and it rolled off onto the edge of the water, I was able to have a swing at it but I didn’t want to get my pants dirty so I just picked up knowing I will likely score really well on the next couple of holes.

and the actions of those muppets aside, the flip side of that is how you react to the feeling of being pressured and rushed from the group behind too.
There will be times that stuff simply happens and for reasons that aren’t specifically your doing – like a couple of the group hits some OB and then some of your group taking your allocated time for a lost ball, all of a sudden it can add up if the group behind has had a good run and they are standing behind you looking like the royal tea-pots they are.

for next time you’re stuck behind some silly punters with their pants tucked into their socks playing slow golf, what can you do?
could you take the sandwedge out of your bag that you threw back in quickly the hole before to keep on moving and give that a clean? Get the mud off it, get a tee into the grooves, just shit like that to take your mind off the inevitable wait and make use of this time?
The answer to that is be anything other than a tea-pot.

Realising that I have lost 4 new balls and only have one new one left, I aim left and it goes way left.
Dead behind a palm tree so I can only knock it up the fairway a little bit for 2.
Hit hybrid, stuck it really well down wind to be pretty much green side, but it looks like it’s rolled into the bunker for 3, i hope it stopped.
Wasn’t in the bunker and is sitting pretty nicely.
Chip it in for 4, and laugh at getting 4 a 3 to be 3 points after 4 and still not touching the putter.

The third hole playing into the teeth of the southerly will be fun.
    Drive goes right, drop 2.
Hit it fat into the bunker for 3.
Skull it out over the green for 4.
drop 5, up and over the green for 6.
    Hit bunker shot for 7
Putter is still in the bag, untouched after 3 holes

First tee shot for Bump with all of us watching!

What I think will really happen is my tee shot goes into the water on the right … of the tee block. Then I have to take a drop from behind the tree, knock it out sideways and be 220 out hitting 4. That shot doesn’t turn over and catches the far side of the bank, drop 5, hitting on for 6.
That rolls off the green to the left and I pick up for a wash without taking putter out of the bag.

so if I hit 3 wood and it only goes 200odd I still put myself in that position of a lob wedge in regardless, with a club that even maxed out won’t reach the water and a line that is starting right of the bunker?
sssh, Mads, your secret is safe with me 😉

That’s an aggressive line off the tee!

That’s where it will finish, the aiming point is about 10m+ right of that, well outside the bunker knowing it will draw back on the breeze and end up there.

It’s all about putting yourself in the spot you want your second shot from.

and bearing in mind, it has been 5 months since I have swung a club, anywhere in the air is my first goal

and depending on how much the southerly is pushing at that stage, being too long and straight with the driver is asking for wet or bunker. The 3 wood should be short enough, if it starts in the right spot that it won’t get wet it it holds out in the wind

Nah, 3 wood is the play here.
240 towards the pond will leave me a 70m flick up on a better angle in.
I think that’s better than a cheeky little chip up onto that tricky raised green.
