OK I agree with Hack2489 wrote to a point.

The point being the edge of the metro area, at which PGA professionals become a bit like hen’s teeth.
A newbie could ask local golfers for advice, if he/she knew any. In my limited experience, a lot of club golfers know not a lot about club selection. Most have forgotten what it was like to be a beginner.

While I was buying some decent golf balls ( Inesis Tour 900 ) I noticed that they had a beginner’s set for sale. It had 7 clubs for $359.The set was:
    1) Mini Driver 14 degree/ 42.5 ”
    2) Hybrid 22 degree /39 ”
    3) 6/7 iron 30 degree
    4) 8/9 iron 39 degree
    5) PW 45 degree
    6) SW 56 degree
    7) Mallet putter
    Stand bag at $95.

The one disappointment for me living in the sticks is that Decathlon won’t freight bigger items . Still that sort of set composition makes a lot of sense to me, in that there is nothing too hard to hit to frustrate a beginner.

One of the best practice rounds can have XRman is to play a few rounds with only 7 clubs and see what effect it has on scoring.
agree with set make up shown above.
