WeetbixParticipantFairways a little patchy and soggy in places
How would you know?
Too soon?
After I chip out of the trees

WeetbixParticipantMore rubbish today, but instead of the full swing it was the putter than cost me
Off 7 at Ashgrove had 27 points with 1 birdie 3 pars 11 bodies 3 doubles
5/10 fairways but only cost me 1 shot
6 GIR and dropped 2 shots each from poor wedges and poor irons – well poor results, the actual shots weren’t far off3/15 up and down – it cost me 5 shots as many of them were not realistic up and down opportunities
38 putts – 5 3 putts and 2 other misses inside 3ft – 4 of the 3 putts were from missing from 3ft or less as well
Should have been at least 32 points today – time to get the putting mat out

11’s an impressive number of bodies to have racked up.

WeetbixParticipantPlayed Glades today in glorious sunshine after a very brisk Saturday meant many turned up in longs
1 birdie 4 pars 12 bodies 1 double
44 15 front
41 18 back
85 34 off 11Drove pretty well for 8 FIR but 2 trips to the trees cost me 2
Rest of long game was decent but only 1 GIR – 8 just missed – but trying to chop out of a divot off a steep downslope over water cost me 2 shots, plus a hooked 7i off a par 3 cost me another
5/16 up and downs – dropped 9 shots
The greens were excellent and probably the fastest I have ever played. They’re truly superb but a challenge to read and the ball just rolled and rolled.
Love the course. It’s so strategic, the greens are superb and set up perfectly against the fairly wide fairways. You can hit lots of fairways and still have very tough approach shots. Just a great fun course.
Flagged just and down from 11.3 to 11.1
Beaudesert next week

WeetbixParticipantPlayed Hills off the white off 12 today in beautiful conditions with a 1 club wind most of the day
As usual the course is preferred lie everywhere (currently including rakeless bunkers) but overall condition was good for what is a value course1 birdie only 4 pars 8 bodies 4 doubles 1 triple
8/14 fairways – but dropped 4 shots from slicing driver in to trees and 1 from an 8i off the tee on the weird 5th hole – tee was not good and I’m still not allowing enough for the fade slice
4 GIR plus a few others I found but rolled off – 5 shots dropped from other full shots – pretty poor, such is golf
2/17 up and downs – 8 dropped shots only because some of the short game shots I left myself with were not gunna get up and down bar a miracle. Hit a couple of good lob shots. Bunker play was pretty good. Rest was generally pussy’d
34 putts – 1 3 putt. Putted pretty well overall and sunk a couple of decent ones but for a point of a bogey. But saw a Twitter post from Paidrag Harrington about working out where to set up so your eyes see the line properly and that seemed to work well. For me I have to stand well inside the ball to see the line properly which meant gripping at the top of the grip and getting my arms a bit more in front. But it definitely helped with alignment today.
Beaudesert tomorrow which will be brisk at 7.30am but hopefully I can drive better and reduce the full swing mishits.
And hit some chips with enough force.May 31, 2020 at 2:38 pm #11836
WeetbixParticipantSlightly better at Beaudesert with a good front nine but a poor back off 10 for 20 and 13 and 33 points all up
2 birdies 3 pars 12 bogies 1 triple
4/14 fairways – dropped 3 shots, 1 driver 1 mini driver 1 hybrid off the tee. Found a few too many trees which usually results in bodies and that was the case today.
6 GIR – plus a few others that were on the green but then rolled off. Overall not bad but most of the good was the front nine. Dropped a shot from a poor punch and a couple of others I have scored against the short game but it was a close call.
5/16 up and down – better than I thought but still missed some straight forward shots. 9 shots dropped here.
33 putts – 3 dropped from 3 putts but overall pretty happy. Was distance control that caused the 3 putts on dewed and then grainy greens which are subtle and challenging.
33 points won’t flag I expect so the avalanche of flags begins after Pacific Harbour next weekend

xrmanParticipantSo you scored in the low 80’s Weetbix? Only hitting 4/14 fairways. Does that mean you were in the light rough or in deep shit on the 10 you missed? You must be good at recovery shots. On the GIR, did you par/ birdie them? Still 33 is a respectable score .
I find in my game getting a GIR doesn’t mean I am any more likely to par the hole. It usually means I have a long first putt, which i usually fail to get close to the pin.
We live in hope.

WeetbixParticipantI had a couple of others that were just off the fairway
And I am prettyngpod with recovery shots! Lots of practice! 😁
I had 2 birdies from GIR’s – 1 on a par 4 and 1 an up and down on a par 5
The 33 was ok bit disappointing when the front was 20 points and 3 over – annoying to waste a good start like that
I had 3 3 putts so certainly wasted some opportunities

7 of the 10 were in the trees but I got most of them around the green in regulation

xrmanParticipantI was wondering about the three putts. Was putt #1 a long one ( equivalent to a chip length) ? I don’t think all 3 putts are equal. Three misses from 4m is a bad result, but 3 misses from 30 m isn’t the same thing, process wise that is.
