The golfer who slips on the champion’s green jacket after the final round of the Masters Tournament won’t be the only person celebrating a $1 million haul.

The season’s opening major championship is the first golf event to be the subject of a daily fantasy sports game with a top prize of $1 million.

The contest, run by DraftKings Inc., will offer a total of $2.2 million in prize money in the burgeoning multibillion daily fantasy sports industry, The Masters is by far the most popular golf tournament among bettors, regularly drawing twice the wagers of the next closest event — the U.S. Open — at sportsbooks. DraftKings is experimenting to see if that interest will extend to daily fantasy, putting the Masters alongside contests for basketball, baseball and football that have offered top prizes of at least $1 million.
