We sound like a bunch of old blokes carrying on in the bar about the good old days. I wish we could be them right now.

As is usual our weather has changed. I went for a walk on a few holes on the golf course yesterday in the sunshine, but today it is pouring down. The good thing is the rain is extending up north to the Wimmera/ Mallee region, where they really need it. Who knows , Broken Hill might also get some rain.

Another Vets match has been cancelled ( third in a month). It is great that the Shepparton cluster is contained. Seeing that it is 600 km from here, it seems silly that we have been in lock down as a result of that out break. I guess it is easier to lock down a whole State, to remove the incentive for folks to escape to the country. It is just as boring here too, why bother!

There is some evidence that vaccinated people that get infected end up with even stronger immunity. Possibly making boosters unnecessary.

It will be interesting to see what the case numbers will be in Victoria in 4-6 weeks. If it is in the 1200 mark by then, it will solve the debate about if Gladys was too slow to lock down, once and for all.

Meanwhile in fantastic spring weather rural courses remain closed.

I retested the Hybrid set at 29 flat. It seems easy to hit and I was getting smash factor 1.4> on all shots. total distance was around 130m. With any luck, Dan will release us from house arrest this week. “Spring is here, the grass is riz, I wonder where the golf course is?”

I hit some balls into my back yard net with my TS2 29 hybrid. It was fun! I visualized it flying down the fairway in perfect control.

The 27 degree hybrid TS2 arrived today. After unpacking it I hit it into the net using my launch monitor, set at 28 degrees. I got quite a few good strikes out of 5 with smash factor >1.4. If it is accurate I should get around 139m total distance. That is too long. I want it to go about 130-135, so I have set it at 29 flat and will re- test it once my Pa duty is over this morning.

My new ( to me) TS2 27 hybrid should arrive any day now. It takes about a week for freight to arrive from Melbourne these days. A slow boat from China ought to be Aust. Post’s theme song. Not that I am allowed to go and hit the thing anyway. Way too dangerous. There was a spark of hope that the lock down for rural Victoria will be lifted on Thursday, but I expect some ridiculously non- science based restrictions will remain ( like wearing a mask outdoors/ playing golf/ by yourself).

Arccos data; I saw a You Tube video that was based on Arccos data showing how far we actually hit Driver. It was age based, with handicap levels. I apologize for not writing down all the age levels, but you can search for the video if you are less than 65 yo.

At 65 years of age; Scratch golfer (238 yards) , 15 handicap (202 yards) and 30 handicap ( 180 yards)

For a while my Arccos Caddie app has been telling me that I should be hitting Driver 207 M at my handicap ( was 12). In winter I was averaging 180 m carry an the occasional 195m shot. The app was rating my game as ” need distance” to get my Driver to match the rest of my game. Adding the age filter now, 202 yards ( 15 handicap) is roughly 180m, so I am not doing all that badly after all. The only time I have ever equaled the 215m ( 238 yd) drive was on a Riverland course with wind assist and hard fairways. It rolled forever down hill and measured 240m! It rolled into a tree I recall.

I went for a drive today too. The local tip was doing a thriving trade with all the gardening waste being delivered. My 10 by 5 trailer load cost me $2.20. Bugger, I forgot to apply for a permit to look after my grand kids while their mothers ( 2 in one day) went for medical appointments. Oh, that is right, that is an allowable activity. I have been building forts and making treasure maps for the last 2 hours. I need a drink!

Just as well we didn’t have Delta variant last year in Victoria. I had visions of Monty Python with the undertaker with his cart. ringing the bell as he shouted ” Bring out your dead”!
On the bright side the courses are drying out after record rains last month. Then again, it is a sunny day and no wind in Portland ( rare) , and we are not allowed to play solo golf. Why?
O.I.L. also dictated last night that grand parents are now limited in access to their grand kids for care purposes. Fuck that! The State will not determine when I will or won’t provide care, if asked to do so by my daughters. Dan just lost the Seniors vote in 12 hours!

SO we don’t have anyone on here from non-lock down states, still playing golf?

    Playing Virginia tomorrow

WE ARE ANXIOUSLY AWAITING YOUR REPORT. (not shouting) Playing golf vicariously is, well, as good as it is possible at the moment in the virus ravaged SW districts of Victoria. I know I am exaggerating, as we don’t have any cases within 300 km of the border. Still we all witnessed the effectiveness of Dan’s “Ring of Steel” around Melbourne ( there wasn’t one) and with all of rural VIc closed, there is little motivation for the Metros to travel beyond the tram tracks.

Sun shine and light winds will dry the course out.

    Hit a good score Weeti!
