Stab at Warra yesterday. The mist was a bit heavy at times meaning I had to wear a jacket for all but two holes.
No wipes – that’s a first for quite a while.
Five doubles @ 1 point each.
Two pars (3points on only one).
One 4-point – a chip in from 50 metres after hitting the drive fat. Yes, par 3. That earns a ball. Who needs to drive the green?
    34 points, $15 for B grade third.

Special, from your description of “spitting out low”, I assume you are de-lofting the club considerably and trying to blast the ball out with a large handful of sand. While that can be made to work, it has its problems.
I’d recommend Phil Mickelson’s bunker CD for good guidance.

You haven’t t told us anything about the loft and bounce angle of the club you usually use and about the consistency and texture of the sand.

Par at Warra today, for a change.
    -1/-1 for a -2 total.
Best round for quite a while – will probably cost me a stroke off my ‘cap.

    Stab at Warra again.
Same 33 points as Tuesday. Most drives were nice & straight. Too many putts just missed, even had a 3-putt.

MM at Southern today off the back plates. Stroke and counting putts. The field was divided into two groups (Monday and today) Playing off 12. Have I ever said don’t expect to play well while on night shift……

    Front 9 – 44 OTS with 17 putts
    Back 9 – 49 OTS with 17 putts

    93 nett 81 and 34 putts

Going ok until the 13 then went….double, double, quad and triple.

I suppose just getting out is a good thing?

I thought it was supposed to be “no competitions” for those in the prison yard? Or does your occupation provide an exemption?

There are ways to play a “comp”……… just not officially via Golflink and clubs.

Agree, and you can still be handicapped. It’s supposed to be no comps with no prizes. But some large metro clubs still published their Sat comp results in the newspapers.

You’re not a big fan of coppers are you, Obe?

On the contrary, most are decent blokes (& women) and some are good friends.

Slow play happens, don’t stress yourself over it.
If you are in the metro lockdown area, there are additional restrictions about not getting anywhere near the group in front, only two pairs on each hole, etc.

Stab at Warra today. 13 out (bloody 5th hole stole my ball from beside the green – wipe). 20 back in with a few pars.
    33 point total.

It looks like my golf is steadying.

    20-25% ???
Only one in my last 20 has come close to my handicap.

wouldn’t that depend on whether your handicap trend is going down or up?

Being harder than, say, a blancmange, is always helpful when deciding to play or to cower in the bunker.

    Bippity-bumpity-boo.

Yeah, piss weak today. It still hadn’t rained here by nightfall.

Diabolically wet was promised for today and at 7:00am the radar showed lots of big heavy clouds headed our way, so I cancelled my 8:44 booking. It is now 2:44 and I haven’t seen one drop of rain.

A high slice is due to the club face being open in relation to the direction the club head is travelling at impact. The most likely reason is a cupped lead wrist (left wrist for RH golfers). The reason for cupping is because you want to hit the ball up so your subconcious helps you out by opening the club. You need to swing with a flat left wrist.

Hold your left arm out horizontally, palm facing the ground, flat left wrist. Tilt your hand up, as indicating ‘stop’, your wrist is now cupped. Tilt your hand down so your palm faces your knees, that is now bowed.

Now take your normal stance with your driver with a square club face (at right angles to the target line). Deliberately cup your left wrist and see what happens to the club face angle. If you do that through impact, you’ll get a high slice right. So do your best to always swing with a flat left wrist.

A shorter driver is easier to control and a heavier club head provides better feel.
