MadamKeymasterI have been playing at Royal Bridgewater ever since Comrade Dan closed our golf courses.
The course is set on the rolling hills overlooking the picturesque Discovery Bay. The winds can prove to be a challenge, a bit like Pt. Fairy. The course itself is challenging , with hidden bunkers and concealed rock hazards. Being mainly couch grass fairways and the sporadic tufted grass in the deep rough, it punishes wayward shots. The greens would have to be the most difficult I have ever experienced, being almost impossible to read. We did complain to the course committee, but the sheep didn’t see the problem. The gallery of poorly behaved crows also proved to be a disruption. We again complained to the match committee about the crows unruly behaviour , but they stonewalled us.In summary, this course has great potential but will need a lot of work to improve to match Pt Fairy as a links style course. The green fees are quite low, so maybe the gift horse’s oral investigation should be avoided.
You had me at “ive been playing….”
MadamKeymasterMy handicap hasn’t moved…..since the last update. (Not sure if that’s good or bad???) 😉
Mine hadn’t moved since Nationals!

MadamKeymasterSo options thus far:
Howlong, Black Bull, Yarrawonga/Mulwala Thu-Sun Yarrawonga has an Executive Course as well so will look at options to include a fun event in middle maybe?or Canberra Yowani and ??
Long list of options..
Royal Canberra, Federal, Gold Creek, Queanbeyan, Yowani, Mt Broughton on way for those coming south.
Plenty of options for food drink & accommodation.Still I’m in for Murray too
Canberra is my vote.
I’ve heard Mt. Broughton is good……no comp tho.
Yowani = Yes
Mt Broughton is not in Canberra!
thanks for the input good to see you Bully

MadamKeymaster@weetbix has identified the core issue. i.e. the “robustness” of the ratings of tees on the same course.
I feel that both slope and scratch rating need to be checked for all tees her in Australia before competition rounds are played from different tees in the same comp.
I also like the idea from @deege of medal rounds or club champs being played across all tees on the course. That would mix up the rounds, make players think a bit more and add another element to the outcome. All players play off back markers, then say forward tees, then say usual comp tees etc. With mixed pin positions, the player ability to adjust best to course conditions would be a good element for the outcome.
A forward tee on a par 3 with a pin tucked up behind a front bunker vs it playing as a long par 3 with pin back centre of green? Same course, very different shot and mindset needed.
I’d still probably hit it fat and have to chip on regardless.

Hack2489.
We’ll see if event is happening first- then the committee can review.
We tend to go with middle tees usually, based on course slope rating etc. The Qld version we did Blue but rain condition made it so much longer and tougher
PS I thought the handicapping was done with red wine at the dinner and the early start!
MadamKeymasterExpendables 2 If you like good ol action movies with all the old favourite stars. Very predictable but entertaining!

MadamKeymasterPerhaps they should grade the size of heads according to skill level.
Start off with larger oversize heads when beginning or until game reaches a determined level,, then at each grade / skill level the head becomes small.
ie 500 CC for high handicap
400 for mid
300 cc for good players
250 cc for pro’s
ie
make the driver heads for pro’s and elite players smaller, like the old persimmon heads.
This would mean hitting right in middle or ball would not fly.If they grade by size of head Pigskin will definitely win Round 1.
Who would win the smallest size?

MadamKeymasterThereby increasing the average IQ of both States.
How’s the golf going in your state at the moment?
It’s been beautiful weather that the golfers up here are playing in at the moment, but that’s really no different to normal. The golf here is fine. Or at least it would be.
We’re all going nuts yet it’s been less than a month so far.Reported on the TV news last night on screen that the total infections for Aust was “0.00002%” but the chic reporter read that as “point zero zero zero zero two of one percent”. Must have been employed for her looks.
She was chic, elegantly and stylishly fashionable type? pronounced “shiek’?
Whats wrong with that?
