Smoldy....when only the best will doSo…since we’ve been back from lockdown, up until Sunday I had played 14 rounds, averaged about 30 points per round. Which blew the handicap out from a poor 17.1, to a shitful 18.3. But other than the odd hole(s) per round, the last few weeks have felt like it was getting better, just not showing in the score. Clubbies and stroke rounds at Yering are never much fun on a poor day, and we’ve just had 3 weeks of them, plus MM on Saturday. The last 5 rounds were the equivalent of 33 33 33 30 30.
Sunday…well, it blew it’s arse off, we had on and off rain…and I shot 38 points, and had my first comp win in the 2 years I’ve been at YM. Handicap back momentarily to 17.7…still at least a couple of shots higher than I’d hope for, but clearly required.

Ok, point taken.
But some people are a bit too precious when it comes extraneous noises. A mower two holes away, traffic on a nearby road.
A good player can concentrate on the job at hand and switch off to minor distractions.Yeah…nah.
I find that some of the “better” players crack the shits at the smallest of noises.

Smoldy....when only the best will doI should point out I’m keen to save the course as I live near it and have had half of my hole in ones on the course (1 on the 6th).
I grew up playing this course when I was a teenager. And missed a hole in one in pennant on the 6th hole by about 2 inches.
It would be disappointing to see it go purely because there aren’t many courses nearby. Having said that…it’s a pretty ordinary course.
