deegeParticipantAre bells allowed Dictator Dan?
Bells are encouraged, but as this is a free state of Danistan, the wearing of bells is not required.

deegeParticipantSo a few weeks off due to some work stuff and back to it today. Back on the coach gameplan to try and get my 40 points, and I managed 41. So that was great. And there was a hitler and a fed ex in there and a couple of three putts.
Really was hitting the ball well today and managed to pull it all together. The driver was great (except for one bad drive but I remembered to take my medicine rather than being a hero and walked off with a bogey). That bogey meant that I played the par 5s in 1 over, so just missed out on coach’s plan. Despite the couple of three putts, my putting was pretty good – could definitely see the benefit of the work on the technique mats at Golf Studio. 33 putts for the day which is above the 30 I am aiming for but not unhappy with that return.
The ball striking was the help though – 5 GIR and a bunch of times was pin high or thereabouts. Hit the green on the 1 ranked hole and three putted to still walk off with 3 points. So those holes are nice. And was in range on some holes which I have never been before. Coming into par 5s with wedges is fun.
And the tale of the tape was 86 off the bat, which is easily my best round of the last 12 months and I think my second best round ever. Using coaches gameplan meant that I wasn’t obsessing about the score because I still had tasks to accomplish (we have three par 5s in a row at the end of our round).
deegeParticipantTrackman system has SO many numbers, and variables too. I’m surprised the studio doesn’t have a guide or intro lesson for new users etc.
Did you set up each club? What about ball in use? I know from the lessons and fitting I had using one, there was always a process of setting up the club in use and standardisation for ball in use, etc.
Do you get the data from your session?
The range supplies all the balls, so assume that it is set up for the balls they provide. They had an intro where they showed me how to use the machine. So I set up for particular clubs as I use them. They do send you the data, but I actually haven’t checked to make sure that they sent the session through – you have to sign up for a trackman account.
It’s more the golf geek thing – it gives you so much data and I don’t know what half of it means. I mainly use the shot dispersion thing or take a video to see if I am managing to do the think that my coach wants me to be practising.
deegeParticipantI find myself agreeing with multiple points of view here. When we played at Barnbougle the first day we played off the tees recommended for the highest handicap which was the very front markers. Everyone had fun (including me – it was fun having wedges into greens). The next day we played one set further back and it was a mistake – brought a lot of carries in for the higher markers and a lot more lost balls.
I prefer to have a comp tee for the day, but that said, I think that our courses are way too tied to the “traditional” tees. I would like to see some rounds where we play a tee other than the reds, maybe a medal day off the blues followed by one off the golds. I think it adds some interest for different players and means that you have to think a little more about how you are going to play your round. If the blokes played a round off the reds off lower handicaps I think that would be fun for a change as well.

deegeParticipantDue to current State of Emergency re CoVID 19 will this event be postponed?
Just because I am doing a lot of work on this at the moment in a work context, here are my thoughts.
We will be asking that anyone who is showing any respiratory symptoms or fever elect not to participate. We have a healthy emergency list so even if you make this call very late you will likely not lose your dough. If you are subject to an authority imposed self isolation order (ie international travel within 14 days or exposure to confirmed case), then we may be able to cover your fees from our reserves even if we can’t get someone to replace you .
We recommend that players avoid shaking hands or engaging in other physical contact during the round and maintain sensible distances (1.5M plus) while on the course. If you are in a risk category, you might not wish to hang around for a meal afterwards, but that is your call.
Updates as developments require.
