GoldyKeymasterWell…what a cracking day. After it looked a little bleak early, what a beautiful day it turned into. Was great to see everyone back at the Frog for the first game of the year.
Well done Muzz…you little bastard…you just keep racking up wins in these things.
Smergs making a long awaited return to the group, along with Nationals roomie and former *champ Koiom…we had a great day out there. We were following possibly the slowest group ever allowed on a golf course, but it was still fun…if not a little frustrating.
Quite a few highlights..one of the best was on the 11th-12th holes, where collectively as a group we were one under on each hole – Carson and myself with pars, Smergs with back-to-back birdies. I was giving him shit all day about him laughing at having to play off 13…when he’s had 36, back-to-back birdies, and decent birdie looks on 1, 3, 5, 11 and 15. He may have got the one on 5….I can’t remember…

Second_Ball_BirdieParticipantI love playing the Frog. Who’d have thought 34 was enough for 17 of 25?? Group of bandits! Was a nice day but for a few peanuts and their attitude but not letting the negativity get in the way of a positive outing. Thanks to the organisers, Geoff, Deege & Goldy but also to Ink for a fun round. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

deegeParticipantThanks all. A great day was had. I got a 5 for 4 and that is enough for me.
The Frog was in great condition though the greens were a little slow early. When it was raining on the way to the course, I hurried to pick up an umbrella at the pro shop, which of course I never needed. So I think the great weather can be attributed to that purchase. Congrats to Kiwi and the other winners. See you all next time.

8th dwarfParticipantWell another OOM run and won.
2020 starts at the 🐸 and it was in terrific condition bar the wet bunkers.
Many thanks to LT Dan, the Match play king (Goldy) and Geoff Cohen for organising today’s event. To the group,
Keg, played well Matty and well putted that man! and drives a very big pill.
Squeaky (iron mick) good finish buddy. My tip for you is when you go in the magoomby DO NOT use a fairway club. You did it all day and the resulting shot showed you about 15 times it doesn’t work. PW or a lofted iron (Wedge) nec time.
Shrugger (Bully) showed great tempo today, had a lot of putts just slide by.
A glimpse of how you can really play my friend.
A better score (for you) than last week.Funny thing this morning
Francie is always giving me grief about my inflated cap and we both played off a pretty hi 14 today 😂
I dropped .9 so GA back down to 11.So back to back wins now. Final round at Gardiners run in 2019 and 1st round win at the frog for 2020. If I can snag a Win at the MT Derrimut donkey club (Scumshine) that’s a hat trick of wins.
Ari would be the only one whose has possibly done that. Back in the days when he was at his peak and we were playing for 2nd.Benny was on fire in the club rooms. Some of you blokes need to sit and listen to him when he has the mike at the dinner table.
Until we reconvene

SmergenParticipantSo this is where you guys hang out now….
Was over in the old joint and it was just crickets and some dude selling forgiving tees.
Well, what a day to be back with familiar faces. Some new ones too which is good to see. It’s been a while since the last OOM for me but it’s good to see a few traditions remain. Solid practice green banter, a presidential address from the Great Man (that no one really listens to sorry Geoff), and someone giving Frank sh!t about not winning already. But there’s a few new things too… Ghetto was there before me and not rocking up straight from car to tee box. Removal of grades so that you only get ripped off by one winner, not multiple. Handicaps that look like cricket scores…. Frank, Muzz.. 14… I mean… seriously. Gents. What the hell is going on with GA these days….
But amongst all that is a quality crew that makes before, during and post golf activities thoroughly enjoyable. I’ve missed it.
To my crew of Goldy and Koiom… What a day. Some top draw banter that, quite frankly, was what the fans really turned up to see. Personal favourites were discussions about forgiving putters and MOI, the full benefits of Ghetto’s glad bag rain coat and combined IQ of the group in front of us and how Goldy’s stableford score on the back probably eclipsed it.
Golf was, surprisingly, quite impressive. Koiom has one of the smoothest, most bestest tempo’d swing going around. He’s a class above us mere mortals and it was great to watch. Personal favourites included the 3rd into 8 and 2nd in to 14. But it’s tough when you’ve got no shots to work with, and any miss is penalized. Us “teen choppers” have a bit more buffer. Well done mate, you’ve got game.
Goldy… we’ve had many rounds at Le Frogge… but that back 9 was something else. Unassuming and dare I say “sneaky special”. 24 points in 9 holes… Faaark. We’ve seen NAGA’s a half of that over the year in 18 holes… You scrambled well, and the putter was rock solid on the back. Be very proud of how you played.
As for mine… Well yeah… It was chocolates and boiled lollies… Birdie looks on 1, 3, 5 and 15 to be teamed with the two I did jag at 11 and 12. I was probably more proud of not wiping a hole, no matter how hard I tried to make it happen (see the 8th). But year, playing to 13 was surprising and refreshing. I think there’s still some reasonable golf hidden somewhere in there muscles…
To the organisers… love your work and your effort. These days are as enjoyable as ever.
And looking at the table above, there was 12 finish ahead, and 11 finish below me on the table. That my friends is how you lock and load midtable mediocrity.
FIngers crossed for Sunshine.
Smoldy. That is all.
