200 golfers, including Pro’s and celebrities will decsend on the Hunter Valley today. They have received a much sort after invite to the Jack Newton Celebrity Classic 2016 . This will be the event’s 38th year and we are thrilled that this flagship event is now in it’s second year at the stunning Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.

Festivities will kick off tonight at the Welcome BBQ with all the guests arriving in their favourite footy jumper from any code. A mixture of regulars and new players alike. For some it will be like their yearly reunion, catching up with old friends and for the new players, it will be their first taste of how thing happen and the Jack. With fireworks and a fly over by regular golfer and Red Bull pilot Matt Hall it is a great way to start off the 36 hole pro am.

The first tee off happens at 7am Tuesday morning. With Tuesday being fancy dress day, it is a lot more colourful on the green than usual. In previous years this has led to everyone from The Hulk, Santa and “KISS” making the rounds on the course. Following a full days play, the sponsors dinner reminds everyone why we are all here. To raise money for the two causes close to Jack’s heart. Diabetes research and Jack Newton Junior Golf, which has helped produce some of this countries best players. We will spend the night adding to the total of more than $6.3 million.

Sore heads aside, the golf continues from 7am Wednesday followed that evening by one of the biggest farewell parties we have had in the Hunter.

For members of the public, 200 of the biggest names in Australian sport, stage and screen attend every year and they are right on your door step. We encourage you to come out to the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, watch some great golf and have lunch.

Since its inception in 1979, an invite to The Jack has been regarded as the hottest ticket in the country for golf lovers. Joining us again this year are Father and son, league legend, Wally Lewis and actor Lincoln Lewis. Lincoln has been coming with his dad since he could walk and Wally has only missed 3 tournaments in the event’s 38 years.

Other regulars include league legends Terry Lamb, Tim Brasher and Michael Hagan.  Stars of the small screen such as House Husbands cast Gyton Grantley and Rhys Muldoon, Actor Peter Phelps, Ironman champion Guy Leech, newly elected member for Patterson, Meryl Swanson, Comedian, Adam Spencer and the Foreman from Ch 9 hit show, The Block and gun golfer Keith Schleiger are also headed back.

Among our first time golfers are Allan Langer, Model and presenter, Kris Smith,  Former Australian Polo Captain, Glen Gilmore, Charity CEO Sam Webb  (from the 2016 season of Australian Survivor) and Kim and Chris from The Block. Also joining the already steller list of players will be our first Grammy award winner, Chris Isaak’s guitarist, Rowland Salley. Full Celebrity list and the Draw for round one is below.
