New golf App making every round count

Australian owned SOGO Golf is celebrating 12 months of national competition this month and as they move into their second year they are actively engaging with clubs to help deliver value to their members and get more golfers on their courses every day.

The team at SOGO is passionate about growing participation by making every round count and to help relieve the administrative burden on clubs at the same time.

The company’s new and innovative SOGO Golf App is now available on both the iTunes App Store and Google Play store for all golfers to download. With a fast sign-up process, any golfer with a current Golf Australia Handicap can download and compete on SOGO in minutes.

As SOGO enters its second season, the team has reviewed the year of data and the behaviour of golfers once they’ve played more than 20 rounds on the platform to see how SOGO has changed their game. The results have been very exciting around participation, showing  70% of golfers are playing more rounds since starting on SOGO, increasing from 4.1 rounds up to 6.2 rounds per month. That’s an increase of almost 50%!

Since kicking off their SOGO campaign, golfer performance at clubs has also seen a big boost with 80% of golfer improving their handicap (by an average of 2.5 strokes) . The team at SOGO sees this as a combination of golfers playing more often and SOGO adding more meaning to every round. Golfers want to bring their A-game every time they play, since every round is now played on a national stage and counts toward great prizes on our weekly, monthly and annual leaderboards.

The majority of rounds being submitted on SOGO are played during club competitions but more and more golfers are taking advantage of the SOGO App’s flexibility to be able to compete when playing social rounds or competing with other users at a time and course that suits them. SOGO gives golfers added incentive to get out on the course more frequently, to boost their monthly totals or compete in one of our standalone events like the SOGO major series.

Every time a golfer plays SOGO it counts towards a series of 9-hole and 18-hole leaderboards, including weekly (best round), monthly (best three rounds) and annual (best five rounds) competitions. Our team also utilises the hole-by-hole data to recognise achievements like eagles and birdies, giving golfers a reason to stay in the game right up to the last hole.
