Recap of the 2017 Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals

Eight junior golfers – four boys and four girls – were crowned champions at the fourth annual Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals held Sunday (April 2) at Augusta National Golf Club.

The road to the National Finals began last summer as youngsters competed at one of 250 local qualifiers at courses across all 50 states. The top finishers advanced through 50 sub-regionals to one of 10 regional qualifiers at some of the nation’s most acclaimed venues and championship sites. The 80 winners across the four age divisions earned a trip to Augusta National to participate in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals prior to the start of the 2017 Masters Tournament.

The four female champions were: Maye Huang of Katy, Texas (ages 7-9); Lucy Yuan of San Diego (ages 10-11); Alexa Pano of Lake Worth, Fla. (ages 12-13), Savannah Grewal of Mississauga, Ontario (age 14-15).

The four male champions were: Carter Gaede of Manhattan Beach, Calif. (age 7-9); Liam Hartling of Redlands, Calif. (ages 10-11); Zachary Colon of Bolton, Mass. (ages 12-13); Mason Quagliata of Scottsdale, Ariz. (ages 14-15).

The success of these National Finals was due in large part to you, the PGA Professional, as commented on by both PGA President Paul Levy and Augusta National Chairman Billy Payne:

“You are the tangible connection between the grassroots community and people who play the game,” said PGA President Paul Levy. “It’s a great opportunity for all of the young boys and girls who played in this championship to connect with a PGA Professional, the people who teach the game and introduce them to the game.”
