Dubbed “The Search for the Next World #1”, will see Institute of Golf co-founders Craig Dixon and Guy Wilson, both AAA Members of the NZ PGA, travel to China to assess junior golfers and their families, thanks to support for the project from government agencies Education New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand and local government agency Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development.

Wilson and Dixon gained worldwide fame for their incredible work with current LPGA Tour player and world number one Lydia Ko, who worked with the Institute of Golf from the age of 6 through to 16 in New Zealand. In the wake of Ko’s astonishing success, parents from around the world are turning to Institute of Golf for game improvement, university scholarship placement, and the hope that one day their child will follow in Ko’s footsteps. Institute of Golf has already successfully placed students into golf scholarships at universities including Harvard and Dartmouth in the USA.
Junior golfers aged 6 – 16 will have the chance to register their interest in a free assessment to take place in Beijing on June 17 and 18, and Shanghai on June 19 and 20. For information on locations or to apply for an assessment, visit www.nextworldnumberone.com, or WeChat ID instituteofgolf.
In addition to the “Search”, one lucky student from each city aged 10 years and above will receive a 30-day, all expenses paid Game on English scholarship to train at Institute of Golf and receive English language training at Unique New Zealand, one of the country’s leading language schools. The value of the Game on English Golf scholarships is in excess of $25,000 NZD (110,000 RMB).
Institute of Golf co-founder Craig Dixon said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to visit China and meet with some of the country’s most talented players. We are continually astonished by the level of talent that is produced out of China and look forward to working with these players and have them attend our programmes.
“We are confident that by combining the great talent pool of Chinese players with our revolutionary training methods and systems, we will create the perfect environment for achieving greatness. Who knows – we could be meeting the next world number one in just a few short weeks!”
Game On English Golf is an educational sports programme that provides Chinese students with elite Golf + English Language coaching in New Zealand. The programme was launched in 2015 and saw immediate results. Participants in the inaugural programme saw their scores improve by an average of 14.5 shots in just four weeks. So astounding were the results that a short video was produced to showcase the students’ success, which can be found at www.nextworldnumberone.com, or WeChat ID instituteofgolf.
The destination of New Zealand is world-renowned for its clean air, spectacular views, and amazing activities. New Zealand boasts almost 400 golf courses with settings ranging from the subtropical Kauri Cliffs to the alpine Jack’s Point, located in the tourist mecca of Queenstown.
Chinese visitation to New Zealand has been booming, and with new visa rules and more direct flights, travel has never been easier. With two locations in Auckland – the country’s largest city and home to excellent accommodation, activities, and cuisine – plus several other coaching opportunities throughout the North and South Island, Institute of Golf can help make your dreams of visiting New Zealand and improving your game a reality.
Several packages are available that would see students visiting for as little as one week to as many as six weeks. Their premium Gold Package retails for an astonishing $500,000 NZD (2.21 million RMB). Believed to be the most expensive golf programme in the world, it includes unlimited instruction, unlimited golf, and out-of-this-world activities such as a helicopter visit to the iconic Milford Sound. You won’t have to worry about standing in queues either, as transport throughout New Zealand is provided by luxury automobile, helicopter, and private plane.
