The Clunes Golf Club has successfully applied for a VicHealth Active Club Grant, which provides funding to increase the opportunities people have to participate in community sporting clubs.

The Clunes club now plans to deliver a MyGolf Program in term four of each school year, with the aim of increasing junior participation by providing a fun, accessible, non-intimidating and affordable introduction to the sport.

The program forms a part of the Clunes Better Health Initiative, which has been established to ensure residents of Clunes and surrounding district have fair access to resources that enhance their health and wellbeing and the skills and knowledge to manage their health.

The club will receive $2725 from the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation – better known as VicHealth – to be spent on junior golf equipment and coach accreditation.

Clunes Golf Club president Lawrie Lees and his team of volunteers from the club will play a strong part in delivering a highly successful MyGolf Program for the very first time.

The program will also provide parents with the opportunity to participate in the program, alongside their children.
